Welcome to the ultimate Riding guide for New World: Aeternum, where you'll master the art of riding mounts at maximum speed throughout the lands of Aeternum. In this guide, you'll learn everything about the Riding trade skill, including how to get started, how to level up, what types of mounts are available, and much, much more.

1.

Riding Overview in New World: Aeternum

Riding in New World: Aeternum is one of the few "casual" trade skills that are in the game, and is also one of the newest trade skills that have been introduced. This trade skill has a direct impact on how quickly you can move throughout the lands of Aeternum (without teleporting to a shrine or town).

The Riding trade skill can be very complex, but this guide will break-down all of the important information you need to know, including how to unlock your first mount, where to unlock new types of mounts (like wolves and lions), how to level up your riding trade skill, where to get the best mount equipment, and more.

2.

Unlocking Your Mount

At level 20, you will be able to start the "My Kingdom for a Horse" quest, which will provide you with your very first mount in the game - Moonshadow Moonshadow the horse. In order to start this quest, you will need to ensure you're at least level 20, then make your way to an NPC named "Jochi Khan", who is located in the northwestern part of Everfall. You will be able to quickly identify where he is by locating the horseshoe icon on your world map.

This quest is extremely easy and straight-forward, as you will just need to gather and explore a few locations that are near where you accepted the quest. It will only take a few minutes, and you will quickly be able to unlock your horse mount.

3.

Leveling Your Riding Trade Skill

Once you receive your horse, you can begin leveling up your Riding trade skill by completing a range of racing side quests (which are indicated by the golden "flag" icons, like the one above). When you arrive at one of these locations, you will see a flag on the ground, which will indicate the start of a race. When you cross this point while on your mount, the race will begin!

When the race begins, you will see a colored path appear in front of you, indicating the direction you must go. The goal of the race is to reach the other flag before the timer reaches 0:00. In order to do this, you must utilize a combination of "charges", which uses your mount's stamina, as well as reaching the small "milestone" points, which will grant you a slight increase of the amount of time you have to complete the race.

By completing these races, you not only gain Riding experience, but also the ability to unlock future mount types, including wolves, lions, and bears.

Unlocking Your Wolf Mount

After unlocking your horse mount and completing all of the available race side quests shown on the map, you will have a new quest appear on your map called "Smuggler's Ring Circuit". This quest will be provided by an NPC named Francois de La Rama, who is located in the lower left corner of Weaver's Fen.

After completing the additional race quests and another group of self-explanatory gathering quests he provides you, you will unlock your very first wolf mount, called Bloodfeast Bloodfeast.

If you are struggling with any of the quests associated with unlocking your wolf mount, reference the video below.

5.

Unlocking Your Lion Mount

Similarly to how you unlocked the wolf mount, you will need to move forward and complete all of the available "race" side quests available on the map. After completing all of these quests, you will have a new quest appear on your map called "Codex Aeternum Circuit". This quest will be provided by an NPC named Satiah Ramotep, who is located in the top left portion of Brimstone Sands.

After completing the additional "race" quests and another group of self-explanatory gathering quests they provide you, you will unlock your very first lion mount, called Yae Hua Yae Hua.

If you are struggling with any of the quests associated with unlocking your lion mount, reference the video below.

6.

Best Mount Equipment

Just like how you have unique armor and equipment associated with you character, so does your mount! Your mount will have an equipment slot for two primary items - a mount shoe, and a mount strap. Additionally, you will be able to also place two mount attachments, that are stricly a cosmetic for your mount.

Below is a list of some of the most sought-after horse equipment currently available in the game.

7.
