Everything You Need To Know About Territory Standing in New World: Aeternum
As you explore the diverse territories of Aeternum, you'll gradually build up a valuable resource known as "Territory Standing". In this guide, we'll review what your Territory Standing means, what you should select when you level up your Territory Standing, best practices on how to quickly level up your Territory Standing, and much, much more.
New World Aeternum Territoy Standing Guide
In New World: Aeternum, every territory has it's own unique "Territory Standing" level. As you progress your Territory Standing level, you will unlock unique buffs and benefits for that specific territory. For example, you can have a level 56 Territory Standing in Everfall, and a level 102 Territory Standing within Windsward. In this example, you will likely have more benefits when gathering, gaining experience, gaining influence, and more within Windsward (the territory that has the highest Territory Standing).
In this guide, we'll explain what your options are to choose from every time you level up your Territory Standing level, which option is the best option to take, and a handful of methods you can use to quickly level up your Territory Standing across every territory within New World: Aeternum.
Please note: The level cap for Territory Standing is level 300; it will be a grind when trying to max this out. It is best to approach this as an end-game accomplishment, as you can easily be distracted focusing on leveling your Territory Standing, and it will take you an extremely long time to actually hit this cap. This is a marathon - not a sprint.
Territory Standing Bonus Options
Every time you gain a level in your Territory Standing, you will have the option to choose one of three "upgrade choices", which will directly provide you with buffs in that specific territory. Below is a complete list of what these "upgrade choices" could be:
Upgrade Choice | Territory Buff Provided |
---|---|
Standing Gain | Increased Territory Standing XP |
XP Gain | Increased Character Experience |
Gather Bonus | Increased Gathering Speed |
House Ownership | Provided at Rank 10 - Allows You to Buy a House |
Station Fee | Decreased Crafting Fees |
Trading Tax | Decreased Trading Post Fees |
Storage | +25 Storage |
Property Tax | Decreased Property Taxes |
House Items | +5 Furniture Items in House |
Faction Tokens | Increased Amount of Faction Tokens |
Best Choices for Upgrades
As you can see from the table above, there are a wide range of bonuses you can choose from as you progress your Territory Standing. When selecting these bonuses for each territory, it's important to keep in mind what your long-term intentions are related to that territory. For example, if you plan on gathering a lot of high-quality resources within the Cutlass Keys PvP Zone, then it will be worth investing in the "Gather Bonus" option, supporting your gathering efforts to quickly (and safely) gather resources.
If you know where you plan on purchasing a house, it will be worth investing in the Property Tax and House Items upgrade options in order to maximize the efficiency of your home. However, if you don't own a house within a specific territroy, make sure you don't select house-specific bonuses for that area.
Regardless of which territory you're in though, it is always a good idea to invest in the Storage Space upgrade option, as overall storage will be critical for the long-term adventures you will have throughout Aeternum.
The upgrade option that most players tend to stay away from is the XP Gain option, as this will essentially be worthless once you max your character's level. In some cases, it might be worth investing in this option for a single territroy if you find yourself struggling to level up your character. Ultimately though, there usually is always a better option to invest in.
Territory Standing Leveling Guide
When it comes to leveling up your Territory Standing, there are a handful of fast and effienct methods. Some of these methods are free, while others may require gold. Typically, the methods below that require gold tend to be the fastest way to level up your Territory Standing.
Please note: It is important to ensure you play the "Territorial Triumph" song before doing any of the methods below. This song will provide you with an increased amount of territory standing experience. To learn more about gaining access to this song, visit our music guide.
Additionally, if you want to get even more territory experience with the methods below, consider adding the Town Loyality perk to your satchels. This will grant you an increased territory standing by up to 15%.
Points of Interest
Simply by exploring an entire territory will award you with multiple Territory Standing levels. It's best practice to unlock your mount at level 20, and to utilize your mount to quickly explore every point of interest in the territroy that you are trying to level up your Territory Standing in. This method is free, and will only cost you some time in order to explore the full territory.
Cooking Method
One of the most effective (yet most expensive) strategies to level up your territory standing is through cooking. There are multiple cost-effective ways to cook in bulk, which not only grants you a very large portion of cooking experience, but also territory standing experience.
Depending on the costs of raw ingredients on your server, it may be worth cooking a large amount of Meat Bait, which only requires one type of raw meat. Typically, Red Meat tends to be extremely cheap on most servers (sometimes as low as .01 gold), making this the perfect raw resource to use for this method.
It's best practice to set up a large number of buy orders on the trading post for your meat of choice, allowing you to quickly (and efficiently) stock up on a large number of the meat. Once you have a large amount, you will want to go to the kitchen within the territory of your choice, and then mass-produce Meat Bait. After you cook this bait, feel free to drop it on the ground, or attempt selling it on the Trading Post (this might take a while though, as it's not a very sought-after bait).
After cooking this meat bait in a large quantity, you will gain an extremely large amount of Territory Standing experience. Below is an in-depth video that explains this method in more detail.
Motes Method
Another method that is very similar to the cooking method mention above is the "Motes Method". For this strategy, you would prepare buy orders for elemental motes (such as an Air Mote) instead of Raw Meat. It's best to review all of the prices for each mote on your server, and then prepare buy orders for the cheapest mote available.
Once you have a large number of motes, you can then upgrade them at the Arcane Repository at your territory of choice (for example, upgrading air more to Air Wisps). In this method, you will gain a large amount of arcana experience instead of cooking experience.
This method will be more costly than the cooking method, as motes tend to be more expensive on every server compared to raw meat. However, these motes are more useful, and more sought-after, so you can likely repurpose these upgraded motes for personal usage, or resell them in the Trading Post for a potential profit.
