The Hatchery in New World: Aeternum is an endgame trial that pushes players to demonstrate their skills, strategies, and knowledge of combat in the game. In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know to conquer The Hatchery and emerge victorious.

1.

The Hatchery Trial Guide

Although The Hatchery can be difficult, it is not considered as one of the most difficult PvE experiences in the game. For example, the 20-man Sandwurm raid and the Winter Rune Forge trials are arguable more challenging, and require more in-depth mechanics than The Hatchery.

Regardless, it is critically important to fully understand each of the waves included in The Hatchery, overall battle mechanics, and more if you want to be successful.

In this guide, we'll cover everything you need to know about The Hatchery, including team composition, build and consumable recommendations, battle mechanics, rewards, and more.

1.1.

Prerequisites

In order to participate in The Hatchery, it's recommended that you are level 65. It's also highly recommended to have a gear score of at least 650 before entering. However, if you are slightly below 650 gearscore, but have a good group, you should still be able to complete this with ease (as long as you understand the battle mechanics highlighted below).

2.

Team Composition

The Hatchery is typically completed by a raid group of 10 members. Within that group of ten players, typically there is one tank, two healers, and seven DPS.

This team composition allows a single player to agro all mobs and take as much damage as possible, while also having two healers ready to not only heal the tank in times of need, but also the other DPS members that will be running around throughout the fight.

Experienced groups may find themselves running just one healer eventually, but it is safest to attempt this trial with two healers.

3.

Build Recommendations

When it comes to your build, you must first identify what role you plan on taking when attempting this trial - will you be a tank, healer, or DPS player?

If you chose tank, you will typically always run the sword and shield as your primary weapon, and then a secondary weapon that can either provide you and your allies with specific buffs (such as the Flail), or a secondary weapon that can support additional debuffs on your enemies (such as the War Hammer). Regardless of your selection, you will want to ensure you are utilizing a heavy set (in order to maximize total armor protection), and ensure you have enough constitution to maximize overall survivability.

If you chose healer, you will obviously utilize the Life Staff as your primary weapon. When it comes to your secondary weapon, you will likely want to use the Void Gauntlet. Although this is not a requirement, the Void Gauntlet does allow you to not only debuff enemies, but also provide major buffs to your team members with the Oblivion Oblivion ability.

If you chose DPS, you will want to make sure you are aware of what the other six DPS members of your team are utilizing. Instead of copying the exact build as the other DPS members of your group, it's worth considering utilizing a unique weapon that could provide additional debuffs (such as rends or weakens) to enemies in order for your team to maximize damage output.

4.

Enemy Type: Human

The Hatchery trial is almost entirely full of enemies classified as Humans. With that being said, these types of mobs are more vulnerable to Slash damage, making weapons like the Greatsword, Great Axe, and Hatchet good options.

You will want to try your best to have three Major Human Combat Trophy Major Human Combat Trophy items within your houses, adding up to an additional 15% damage to Humans.

Additionally, it is worth noting that this trial involves multiple enemies that deal fire damage. With that being said, it’s worthwhile embedding multiple Cut Pristine Ruby Cut Pristine Ruby gems within your armor, and an amulet with the Flame Protection Flame Protection perk to maximize your fire protection.

5.

Consumables

The last thing you'll want to ensure you have before entering The Hatchery are your consumables. Below are a list of consumable items you should ensure are in your inventory prior to starting this trial.

Consumable Effect
Infused Health Potion Infused Health Potion Restores 2,400 health, +7% of your max health.
Infused Regeneration Potion Infused Regeneration Potion Restores 240 health, +0.7% of your max health and 3 mana per second for 10s.

Phases and Battle Mechanics

There are five phases with different waves of enemies in this trial, each having different battle mechanics. This good news is that the first three phases are extremely straight-forward, and are essentially just multiple groups of mobs.

6.1.

Phase One

As mentioned phase one is the easiest phase, as it will be a simple wave of Human-type mobs that spawn towards the back of the arena. It's best-practice to focus on the ranged mobs first (especially the healers), and then focus on the others. You and your team should have no issues taking this wave down.

6.2.

Phase Two

Phase two is almost identical to the previous phase, except the waves of mobs are slightly more powerful (and have more health). It is recommended that any Great Axe user in the group utilizes the Insatiable Gravity Well Insatiable Gravity Well ability to group these mobs up in order to take care of them faster. Similar to the first phase, taking down the ranged enemies first will make the fight itself a lot easier.

6.3.

Phase Three

This phase would be considered the last "easy" phase, as once again, it's a wave of multiple Human-type mobs. However, this time they are Elite enemies, granting them a larger chunk of health, and the ability to deal more damage than typical mobs. The battle mechanics for this phase is similar to the previous phases - group the enemies together as much as possible, and burn them down with as much DPS as possible.

6.4.

Phase Four

This phase is where the trial truly begins, as you and your group will be facing off against Razhan the Hordemaster.

Razhan the Hordemaster utilizes the Hatchet as its primary weapon, and it's important for the tank to truly step up the game and take the hits (and agro) for this fight. As the tank takes the hits, all of the DPS players should be behind the boss, dishing off as many debuffs and abilities as possible to burn down his health.

As you continue to take down his health bar, Razhan will eventually showcase a range of abilities, including one that will target specific group members within the group with an explosive attack. If you or a group member gets surrounded by a fiery ring, it means that Razhan is targeting you with this explosive attack. You should remove yourself from your group and take a step back, as once it explodes, it will deal damage to you and everyone around you!

The other important thing to mention is that Razhan will periodically spawn fiery mobs throughout the battle as he throws large fireballs around the arena. It is extremely important for all of the DPS players to stop what they're doing, and focus on these fiery mobs as soon as they spawn. If they are not defeated in time, they will end up growing in size (and power), making them much, much more difficult to defeat.

With this information, you have everything you need to know in order to take down this boss. Play smart - avoid his abilities, focus the fiery mobs, and pile on the debuffs, and you won't have any issues defeating Razhan the Hordemaste.

6.5.

Phase 5

Once you take down Razhan the Hordemaster, the final phase will begin, which introduces you to the final boss in this trial - Hadish Azar, Keeper of the Flame.

This phase requires the most battle mechanics, as this boss has a large range of fiery abilities that you need to understand before entering the fight.

One of the first of these abilities you'll encounter is a fiery dash, where he will quickly move completely across the arena, pushing anyone in his path away and burning them in the process. It's important to ensure that no players are near the edge of the arena during this ability, as Hadish Azar can actually push players completely off of the arena, instantly killing them and removing them from the fight.

Other than the fiery dash ability, this boss will also showcase a range of other flame-oriented attacks that can deal with a burning DoT effect. It's important to utilize your Infused Fire Absorption Potion Infused Fire Absorption Potions during this fight if you ever get burned, as it can hurt quite a bit over time.

Once your team takes down a large chunk of health, this boss will then move to the back of the arena, hunting that he is about to send out flame waves. Although you could simply dodge these flame waves within the small openings that appear as they move towards you, it's actually best practice for all players on the team to stack directly on top of Razhan the Hordemaster during this phase, and focus on dealing damage to him.

Please note:: It is critically important that your healer(s) are dealing AoE heals during this phase, as all members of the team will be taking damage with this strategy. If all of your healers are dead before this wave starts, then it is best to take a step back and dodge the flame waves accordingly.

By following the battle mechanics above, and staying aware of his abilities, you and your team will be able to successfully take down Hadish Azar, awarding you with a range of valuable rewards.

7.
