Woodworking Trade Skill Guide for New World
Welcome to the ultimate woodworking guide for New World: Aeternum, where you'll master the craft of cutting down trees, and transforming the raw timber into essential crafting components for weapons, furniture, and more.
Woodworking Overview in New World: Aeternum
Woodworking in New World: Aeternum is an essential trade skill that enables players to refine raw wood into useful planks, which are crucial for crafting the most powerful weapons and tools in the game. Due to the nature of how you'll be gathering these materials and using them, this trade skill is directly linked to Logging, Engineering, Weaponsmithing, and Furnishing.
Mastering this trade skill not only provides access to valuable crafting materials, but also offers players significant gold-making opportunities.
In this guide, we'll cover everything you need to know about woodworking, including how to get started, leveling strategies, items you can craft with this trade skill, gold-making strategies, and more.
Refining Reagent for Woodworking
Obsidian Sandpaper is the refining reagent that you will be utilizing when it comes to Woodworking. It is highly recommended that you submit buy orders on the Trading Post if you're planning on maxing out this trade skill, as it will allow you to bulk-up on the required sandpaper ingredients in the most cost-effective way.
Leveling Woodworking in New World: Aeternum
Woodworking is a fairly simple skill to level up: the most experience you can acquire is from the highest tier materials you can craft, so always craft up for maximum experience. However, you can take a cheaper route and continue to only craft the lower materials which are extremely useful and can still sell for plenty of gold, as many players would rather just buy those lower level resources than farm them themselves.
Below is a table of refined resources you can create with Woodworking, including the required materials for each, and how much experience is gathered when crafting them.
Refined Resources | Materials Required | Woodworking Level | Experience Gained |
---|---|---|---|
Timber | Green Wood x4 | 0 | +44 |
Lumber | Aged Wood x4, Timber x2 and Obsidian Sandpaper x1 | 50 | +322 |
Wyrdwood Planks | Wyrdwood x6, Lumber x2 and Obsidian Sandpaper x1 | 100 | +1,998 |
Ironwood Planks | Ironwood x8, Wyrdwood Planks x2 and Obsidian Sandpaper x1 | 150 | +10,164 |
Glittering Ebony (10 per day) | Ironwood Planks x5, Wildwood x2, and Obsidian Sandpaper x1 | 200 | +24,000 |
Runewood Planks | Runewood x 12, Ironwood Planks x2, and Obsidian Sandpaper x1 | 205 | +38,205 |
Prismatic Planks (10 per day) | Glittering Ebony x 1, Runewood Planks x10, and Obsidian Sandpaper x4 | 250 | +124,020 |
Yield-Increasing Gear
Each of the refining trade skills have a gear set that increase the total yield you receive while refining by +2% per item. For Woodworking, it is the Woodworker's Cap, Gloves, Paints, Shirt and Shoes.
You can generally find these as drops or on the Trading Post, however some pieces can be much rarer than others. If you are trying to buy these on the Trading Post, it is recommended to place a buy order (instead of buying it directly) in order to get the best possible price.
Armor | Drop Source |
---|---|
Woodworker's Cap | Package of Specialized Woodworking Materials or Slayer Rosellen (in Ebonscale Reach) |
Woodworker's Shirt | Package of Specialized Woodworking Materials or Overseer Levy (in Shattered Mountain) |
Woodworker's Gloves | Package of Specialized Woodworking Materials or Borvarn (in Ebonscale Reach) |
Woodworker's Pants | Package of Specialized Woodworking Materials or Tzi-Wang the Immovable (in Shattered Mountain) |
Woodworker's Shoes | Package of Specialized Woodworking Materials or Daisy the Dancing Bear (in Ebonscale Reach) |
How to Make Gold with Woodworking
There are a range of ways on how you can make gold with the Woodworking trade skill. For starters, the high-end planks that you'll be crafting will be extremely sought-after, and you'll be able to make a direct profit off of these most of the time simply by selling them via the in-game trade chat of Trading Post.
Another method is to utilize your actual high-level Woodworking skill as your advantage, and charge other players for you to smelt their raw ingredients. If you have all of the necessary Woodworking gear, and are max level, you will likely gain more "bonus" crafts, making the Woodworking process more valuable.
Additionally, if you haven't used your daily cooldown for the high-end planks (such as the Prismatic Planks), you can sell your "cooldown" in a way, where a player would provide you with the ingredients necessary to craft 10 Prismatic Planks, as well as some gold (for you), in exchange for you to craft the ingredients, and return the finished product.
