Why Are the Reviews So Good?

Blue Prince is a small indie game that you may not even have heard about. Yet it is ranking higher than games such as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, or even Monster Hunter Wilds, Assasssin’s Creed Shadows, and Split Fiction!

Opencritic ranks it first with a score of 91, and Metacritic ranks it first as well with a score of 92! But how come this mysterious game ranks so high?

Simply put, Blue Prince is one of those games that will force its way into your brain, and not come back out. Similar to games such as Outer Wilds, it lets you mix your own sense of curiosity with deep and intriguing puzzle-solving gameplay. While the randomness of the rooms can feel annoying at first, you quickly learn how to control them and plan ahead.

Some puzzles will only need a bit of logic, while others will require you to find combinations or secret information! But it does not leave you frustrated. No matter how long you spend on a puzzle, once you solve it, you have a rewarding feeling. You constantly uncover new things. Your curiosity is always satisfied.

As you explore, you find new clues in the form of locked rooms, boxes, books, journals, and other documents. Not only does the game have really nice puzzles, but it also comes with a heavy story and a lot of lore. You do not just uncover rooms; you learn about a whole story and all the mysteries behind Mt. Holly. And if you manage to find Room 46, you will realize how much it was worth the trip!

To sum up, Blue Prince is a touching little game, with intriguing puzzles and secrets to uncover, that will leave a mark on you, which will never leave.
