The last character trailer for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 released today! It is time to meet Monoco, the Gestral! Monoco is technically not a member of Expedition 33, but he joins nonetheless. However, he will become a unique and important member of the group! Here is everything you need to know about the “friendly yet bloodthirsty” character!
What Is Expedition 33?
In a fantasy world inspired by France during the “Belle Epoque“, after the end of the French-Prussian War in 1871 until the start of World War I in 1914, once a year, the Paintress awakens and paints cursed numbers upon her monolith.
Everyone of that age will turn to smoke and fade away. Year by year, that number ticks down and more humans are erased. Soon, she will awaken again, and paint the number “33”. But this time, Expedition 33, those doomed to disappear next, will go on a quest. Their goal: Destroy the Paintress, so she can never paint death again.

Who Is Monoco?
Monoco is the last character of Expedition 33 that was showcased in a specific trailer by Sandfall Interactive. You can watch it here:
Monoco is not a human, he is a Gestral. Those creatures usually do not speak human language, and are driven by the thrill of battle. This is the only reason he first joins Expedition 33. Gestrals are also invulnerable to the curse, and Monoco is one of the few that can talk to humans.
Monoco has a unique ability: he can collect the feet of Nevrons, absorbing their skills and transforming into them during battles. He has extremely scholarly manners, which contrast heavily with his very clumsy and rough-edge personality!
Sandfall Interactive confirmed that Monoco’s trailer is the last one regarding the playable characters. You will have the possibility to discover more about all of them once the game releases on April 24, 2025!
