Sony has officially announced that Ghost of Yōtei, the highly anticipated spiritual successor to Ghost of Tsushima, will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025.
Developed by Sucker Punch Productions, this standalone sequel introduces a new protagonist, Atsu, and a fresh setting in ancient Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido).
A New Tale of Vengeance and Freedom
You play as Atsu, a survivor turned hunter seeking revenge against the Yōtei Six, a deadly group who burned her family alive and left her for dead.
Each of the Yōtei Six can be hunted in any order, which provides players with more freedom and a personal narrative path. The new trailer teases everything from burning ginkgo trees to quiet blade duels–blending emotion, folklore, and fast, reactive combat.

More Exploration, More Choice
Ghost of Yōtei builds on the open-world design of Tsushima. You can explore snowy peaks, build campfires anywhere, track optional bounties, or train with hidden weapon sensei.

A new memory-based mechanic also lets you glimpse into Atsu’s past, adding emotional weight and context. Combat has been expanded too, with dual katanas and other tools now part of your arsenal.
