InZOI, the latest life simulation game, introduces a unique Facial Capture feature that enhances character personalization and in-game interaction. This functionality allows you to animate your Zois (in-game avatars) by mirroring your own facial expressions in real-time.
Real-Time Facial Expression Tracking
As mentioned before, this Facial Capture feature allows you to use your iOS device (any Apple Phone or tablets) to track your own facial movements, which your Zois will then replicate during gameplay. This creates a more immersive and personalized experience. To set up this feature:
- Launch the Facial Capture in InZOI: In the Zoi creation menu, click on the “Set up facial capture” button located in the top toolbar.
- Connect Devices: Make sure both your PC and iOS device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Install the Live Link Face App: A QR code will appear; scan it with your iOS device to download the Live Link Face app.
- Configure the App: Open the app, select the Live Link feature, and grant necessary permissions.
- Input IP Address: In the app’s settings, add your PC’s IP address, which is provided in the InZOI setup menu.
- Establish Connection: After entering the IP address, allow the app to find devices on the local network. Once your device appears in InZOI, select it to complete the setup.
This allows your Zoi to mimic your facial expressions in real-time. You will of course have to hold the phone and film your own face for it to work.
Clarification on Face Scanning for Character Creation
It is important to note that, despite some misconceptions, InZOI’s Facial Capture does not support scanning a player’s face to create a Zoi that looks similar to them physically. The feature is only used for real-time expression tracking.
Compatibility and Future Developments
Currently, the Facial Capture feature is exclusive to iOS devices. This is due to specific requirements and existing patents related to facial tracking technology. No announcement is made so far. We do not know if it will, or not, be available in the future for Android or other platforms.
In summary, InZOI’s Facial Capture feature offers a new way to enhance the gaming experience by allowing Zois to reflect real-time facial expressions. While it does not yet support creating a Zoi that looks exactly like you, the feature is still a significant step forward in immersive gameplay in life simulation games.
