The Nintendo Switch 2 will release earlier than we thought: it launches on June 5, 2025 worldwide! If you did not know what to do during the summer, Nintendo has you covered with the new hybrid portable and living room console!

Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will open on April 9, 2025. Regarding the prices:

  • The console alone will be around 450$ / 470€
  • The Console + Mario Kart World Bundle will be around 500$ / 510€

Nintendo Switch 2 VS Switch 1

A new console is great, for sure, but is it really that different to the current Nintendo Switch? We are here to answer your question!

This new console introduces several enhancements over the original Nintendo Switch:

  • Display and Performance:
    • Screen: The Switch 2 features a 7.9-inch Full HD (1080p) HDR display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smoother visuals compared to the original Switch’s 6.2-inch 720p screen.
    • Docked Mode: When docked, the Switch 2 supports 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, providing enhanced graphics on compatible displays.
  • Controllers:
    • Joy-Con 2: The redesigned controllers attach magnetically and can function as computer mice for compatible games. They include a new “C” button for in-game chatting and have been made larger for improved comfort.
  • Storage and Battery:
    • Internal Storage: The Switch 2 comes with 256 GB of internal storage, a significant increase from the original’s 32 GB.
    • Battery Life: Depending on usage, the battery life ranges from 2 to 6.5 hours.
  • Additional Features:
    • USB-C Ports: The console includes two USB-C ports, enhancing connectivity options.
    • GameChat: A new feature allowing real-time voice communication during gameplay, made easier by the “C” button on the Joy-Con 2 controllers.
    • Backward Compatibility: The Switch 2 is backward compatible with most original Switch games, though some may not be fully supported.

What Games Are Coming to Switch 2?

Of course, the new console will not be released alone, and you will be able to play a variety of new and exported games on the Nintendo Switch 2! Here are all the games that are planned for the Nintendo Switch 2 so far:

  • Mario Kart World – An open-world version of the fan-favorite kart racing game!
  • Donkey Kong Bananza – A 3D platformer.
  • Pokemon Legends A/Z: The game will come with a Special Switch 2 Edition as well!
  • Kirby Air Riders: A racing game, but starting with Kirby!
  • The Duskbloods: A FromSoftware game on your Nintendo Switch! It seems similar to Elden Ring Nightreign.
  • Borderlands 4: Launching September 23, 2025, the game will also release on the Switch 2.
  • Civilization VII: While the normal Switch was too underpowered for it, it will run much smoother on the Switch 2.
  • Switch Online Expansion Pack for Switch 2 with GameCube games! Those include The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Soul Calibur 2, and much more!
  • Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment: The new prequel to Zelda Tears of the Kingdom!
  • A James Bond game developed by IO Interactive.
  • DragXDrive: A mouse game for Switch 2! You will play wheelchair basketball by moving both joy-cons like a mouse to move and score points.
  • Zelda Breath of the Wilds and Tears of the Kingdom, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Metroid Prime 4, and more upgrades for Switch 2.
  • More games will join the roster:
    • Street Fighter 6
    • Yakuza 0 Directors’ Cut
    • Elden Ring
    • Madden
    • Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 and 4
    • Split Fiction
    • Hogwarts Legacy
    • And more!
