Skyblivion mod for The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim

The team behind Skyblivion has released a round of comparison images, and the transformation is nothing short of jaw-dropping. From the ancient halls of Malada to the corrupted depths of the Realm of Peryite, these shots highlight just how far the fan-made remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has come.

For those unfamiliar, Skyblivion is part of the broader TESRenewal project. Which is a massive volunteer-driven effort to rebuild Oblivion entirely within the Skyrim engine. It’s not just a graphical upgrade. The mod brings new systems, animations, lighting, and redesigned environments, all while remaining faithful to the spirit and world design of the original 2006 classic.

What stands out most in this showcase is the overhaul of interior spaces – once flat, boxy rooms have been completely reimagined with verticality, ambient lighting, and detail density that rivals modern AAA releases. Some notable examples include:

  • Inside Malada, the ruins now feel genuinely ancient and sacred, bathed in gorgous lighting and overgrown with moss and vines.
  • Fort Blueblood has been restructured into a believable, battle-worn stronghold with impressive visuals.
  • The Realm of Peryite? Gone has the more standard oblivion realm red, and instead has a green colour that much more aptly matches Peryite.

Skyblivion has always been ambitious, but these latest previews show just how close they are to delivering on that promise. This isn’t just nostalgia in HD – it’s a full reimagining, brought to life by fans who clearly love the world of Cyrodiil as much as the players do.

The full set of images can be found on the Skyblivion official website, however here’s a preview of one of the most impressive changes. Note that these images are the exact same locations in-game. Thats how impressive these changes are.
