TBC Classic Cooking Profession and Leveling 1-375 Guide
Cooking allows players to create food and drinks for consumption. This is mostly used to create raid-consumable food for various different buffs. Cooking is a secondary profession, meaning it does not take up one of the primary slots that others would such as Engineering or Tailoring.
If you are going to train up Cooking, we recommend getting skill-ups for it alongside Fishing, as you can use most of the fish that you catch to level up Cooking.
Introduction
Cooking can be learned from any trainer, but leveling it beyond skill level 150 can only be done through items and quests. Cooking is easiest to train if done at the same time as Fishing, as many of the fish caught can be cooked for skill-ups.
Cooking Training
The skill levels you will need to train at are:
- Apprentice Level can be learned when first picking up the profession, starts from a skill level of 1, and goes up to 75. It also requires your character to be Level 5.
- Journeyman Level can be learned when you reach a skill level of 50 and goes up to 150. It also requires your character to be Level 10.
- Expert Level can be learned when you reach a skill level of 125 and goes up to 225. It also requires your character to be Level 20.
- Artisan Level can be learned when you reach a skill level of 200 and goes up to 300. It also requires your character to be Level 35.
- Master Level can be learned when you reach a skill level of 275 and goes up to 375. It the highest Profession Level and also requires your character to be Level 55.
Azeroth (1 - 300)
Apprentice and Journeyman Cooking can be learned from any trainer found mostly in major cities. When you arrive at a major city, you can ask any city guard for directions and pick the Cooking trainer option under the professions section. This will mark their location on your map, allowing you to easily find them and get the Cooking skill.
To reach Expert Cooking, you will need to purchase Expert Cookbook from Shandrina for Alliance players, and Wulan for Horde players. It will cost 1 gold from the vendor, or you may find it on the auction house for a similar price and save the trip.
To become an Artisan Cook, you will have to complete the quest Clamlette Surprise, given by Dirge Quikcleave in Gadgetzan. Alliance players will first need to get the quest I Know A Guy... given by Daryl Riknussun in Ironforge; Horde will need to get the quest To Gadgetzan You Go! from Zamja in Orgrimmar.
Clamlette Surprise will require the following materials:
- 12 x Giant Egg
- 10 x Zesty Clam Meat
- 20 x Alterac Swiss
Outland (300 - 375)
To become a Master Cook, you will need to purchase Master Cookbook for 5 gold. Alliance players can purchase this book from Gaston in Honor Hold and Horde players can get it from Baxter in Thrallmar. Both factions can also purchase it from Naka in Cenarion Refuge. Once again, you may find this on the auction house for a similar price and save a trip. Once read, you will be a Master Cook and capable of reaching 375 skill level.
Leveling Cooking (1 - 300)
Cooking is a very easy profession to get skill-ups in. Most of them can also be obtained by using fish caught from Fishing as there are plenty of different Cooking recipes that use fish that can be caught.
