Kazrogal Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot
Kaz'rogal is the third boss you will encounter in the Hyjal Summit 25-player raid instance. Unlike the first two bosses you will face Kaz'rogal at the Horde basecamp. Kaz'rogal is one of the most unique bosses in the Burning Crusade expansion because of his Mark of Kaz'rogal ability that forces all members of the raid to be even more aware than usual about how much Mana they have and how they must plan to use their resources.
Overview
Kaz'rogal is the third boss you will encounter in the Hyjal Summit 25-player raid instance. Unlike the first two bosses you will face Kaz'rogal at the Horde base-camp. Kaz'rogal is a DPS check that will require your group to maintain their Mana. Kaz'rogal becomes more and more difficult as time goes on as he increases the frequency which he casts Mark of Kaz'rogal eventually wiping the raid if your guild is not able to kill him in time. Kaz'rogal is a one-tank encounter and should not require you to bring any extra healers.
Role-Specific Tips for Kaz'rogal
Healer Tips
Kaz'rogal is not a particularly high damage boss fight but it will require you to maintain your Mana, taking full advantage of consumables such as Super Mana Potions, Demonic Runes, and Dark Runes.
If you cannot avoid triggering Mark of Kaz'rogal make sure you are far enough away from the group that your explosion will not hit any other members of the raid.
DPS Tips
If you cannot avoid triggering Mark of Kaz'rogal make sure you are far enough away from the group that your explosion will not hit any other members of the raid.
While Kaz'rogal is a dps check, it is crucial to use consumables such as Super Mana Potions, Demonic Runes, and Dark Runes to avoid triggering Mark of Kaz'rogal's detonation.
Tank Tips
Make sure Kaz'rogal is positioned in a way that avoids hitting your ranged players with War Stomp.
Kaz'rogal Abilities
- Mark of Kaz'rogal — Kaz'rogal will target random players in the raid with a debuff that will drain 600 Mana per second for five seconds. If the player's Mana is reduced to 0 by this debuff it will cause the player to explode for about 12,000 damage to themselves and anyone near them. This debuff will become increasingly frequent as the fight goes on.
- War Stomp — Kaz'rogal will occasionally stomp, stunning everyone within 15 yards of him for a few seconds.
- Malevolent Cleave — This deals damage to everyone in front of Kaz'rogal, and the damage is split evenly between anyone hit by it.
Strategy for Kaz'rogal
Pulling the Boss
Kaz'rogal will spawn and engage your raid about 60 seconds after the final trash wave is defeated. It is important to position the boss in a way that allows people to avoid his cleave but still remain spread to allow them to get away from the group. It is important to position Kaz'rogal quickly as the boss becomes increasingly difficult as the frequency of Mark of Kaz'rogal increases.
Phase One
Once Kaz'rogal is positioned the boss fight is an extremely simple burn that will require your raid to do as much damage as possible as quickly as possible. Kaz'rogal's Mark of Kaz'rogal will initially cast once every 60 seconds but the cooldown of this spell is reduced by 10 seconds every time he casts it, becoming more and more frequent until it eventually overwhelms your raid. It is important to maintain a loose spread around the boss that will allow players who run out of Mana while under the effects of Mark of Kaz'rogal to get out of the raid so they do not explode and damage any other raid members. Other than maintaining your Mana and doing maximum DPS, Kaz'rogal is an extremely simple fight. The only other mechanics to deal with are a frontal Malevolent Cleave, so make sure you are not infront of the boss, and a War Stomp that will occasionally stun players within 15 yards of Kaz'rogal.
