TBC Classic Rogue DPS Phase 1 / Tier 4 Gear and Best in Slot

Below are two BiS lists made for Tier 4; one is with world boss loot and the other is without. Note that the world boss loot is only a couple DPS more than the setup without world boss loot. You also lose a lot of Stamina swapping to the world boss loot set, which can make some raid mechanics much deadlier to you. Below are also gem suggestions for your BiS gear. Please note that your setup will use less Hit gems and more Agility gems if you are running Gladiator's Slicer or Gladiator's Quickblade over Dragonmaw, Blinkstrike, or Spiteblade.

If you are starting out as a freshly-leveled Combat Rogue, our pre-raid best in slot list is meant to give you an idea of non-raid items you can chase as a solo / pug player in preparation for raids.

Do note that items from Heroic dungeons or that require Primal Nethers (which are obtained from Heroics) can be harder to get than raid items due to their daily lockout. Some Heroic dungeons are also harder than most of Karazhan.

If, however, your character is ready to take on the content of Tiers 5 and 6, then please utilize our updated lists instead.

When gearing for BiS in Tier 4, many players will be attracted to Dragonmaw for being the strongest possible choice of weapon. Please note that while Dragonmaw is a fantastic weapon, it is less than 3 DPS higher than Gladiator's Slicer and is only about 4-6 DPS higher than Blinkstrike and Spiteblade respectively. Also note that Dragonmaw only outperforms those items if you can make full use of the Haste proc every single time it procs, otherwise the top sword options will outperform it. In later tiers, Talon of Azshara outweighs Dragonmaw's upgraded version Dragonstrike by a fair margin, so keep that in mind for the future.
