TBC Classic Rogue Weapons Guide
When playing a Rogue, it is very important to have a proper weapon. This guide will explain which weapon skills are available to Rogues for training, ideal weapons to seek out in each Phase of TBC Classic, and options to consider acquiring on your way to Level 70.
If you are moreso looking for a list of optimal Level 70 gear beyond only weapons, we have compiled a separate Rogue Gearing Guide.
Rogue Weapon Skills
Rogues can use Daggers, Fist Weapons, Swords, and Maces with Crossbows, Bows, Guns, and Throwing Weapons for their ranged slots. Choosing the correct weapons are an incredibly important part of playing Rogue in both PvP and PvE. Abilities such as Sinister Strike and Hemorrhage are instant strikes that deal damage based off of your weapon's base damage plus bonus damage from Attack Power, which is normalized. Your offhand weapon generally wants to be as fast as possible due to Shiv, Combat Potency, and any poisons.

Mainhands for TBC Classic Rogues
There are many great main-hand weapon options for Rogues in TBC Classic. Below are a variety of mainhands ranked for each Phase. It should be noted that for Phase 1 the difference in DPS between Dragonmaw and Gladiator's Slicer is less than 2 DPS apart, assuming you can utilize 100% uptime on Dragonmaw's proc; otherwise, Gladiator's Slicer will beat it out. Also, note that for Phase 1, all 5 options listed below are within 9 DPS of eachother, so it is not recommended for you to pick up Blacksmithing just for Dragonmaw as it will be a huge gold and time sink.
Pre-Raid
Weapon Name | Location |
---|---|
Dragonmaw | Crafted; Blacksmithing |
Blinkstrike | World Drop |
Vindicator's Brand | The Aldor; Exalted |
The Bladefist | Warchief Kargath Bladefist; Heroic The Shattered Halls |
Phase 1
Weapon Name | Location |
---|---|
Dragonmaw | Crafted; Blacksmithing |
Gladiator's Slicer | Arena Points |
Blinkstrike | World Drop |
Spiteblade | Netherspite; Karazhan |
Hope Ender | World Boss; Doom Lord Kazzak |
Offhands for TBC Classic Rogues
Offhand selection is much smaller for each Phase. Here we will go over a couple of options for offhands in each phase.
Pre-Raid
Weapon Name | Location |
---|---|
Latro's Shifting Sword | Aeonus; The Black Morass |
Blazeguard | Crafted; Blacksmithing |
Latro's Shifting Sword is an amazing offhand and can easily last you until Black Temple. This weapon is so perfectly itemized that it is only few DPS worse than Merciless Gladiator's Slicer.
Phase 1
Weapon Name | Location |
---|---|
Gladiator's Quickblade | Arena Points |
Latro's Shifting Sword | Aeonus; The Black Morass |
Leveling Weapons
Below we will go over a few of the most notable weapons you can get while leveling.
Cruel Barb is from Deadmines and can be used for a very long time. With a slow weapon speed and high damage, this is a very strong leveling weapon. Other notable items you can obtain while leveling up are Vanquisher's Sword from quests avaiable to both Horde and Alliance players within Razorfen Downs. After that, Thrash Blade from the Maraudon quest Corruption of Earth and Seed is a great option to last you until Outland. In Outland there are many different weapon options you can obtain while leveling. You will likely be changing them out every zone you go into.
