Overview
Death Knights are one of the most versatile classes in WotLK Classic. While they lack one specific area where they are dominant, they excel in many different niche situations and always complement a team extremely well whether that is inside the Arena, a Battleground, or out in the worlds of Azeroth or Outland. Spells like Death Grip, Chains of Ice or Summon Gargoyle, and many other short-cooldown utility spells are what make Death Knights unique in what they can offer to a group.
Unholy is the dominant PvP spec for Death Knights. While Frost can sometimes be competitive in battlegrounds Unholy is unmatched when it comes to the other Death Knights specs in competitive PvP.
- Unholy Unholy is a powerful specialization that deals massive consistent damage and can also deal a considerable amount of burst thanks to Summon Gargoyle and other abilities. While known for its damage, Unholy is also a master of disruption thanks to abilities such as Chains of Ice, Death Grip, and Mind Freeze. Fully utilizing these tools is what will separate you from other players. Dealing maximum damage is not too difficult, but dealing maximum damage while keeping your teammates alive and lessening your opponents' damage is what will make the difference in a competitive PvP scenario.
Macros and Addons
Macros and Addons can greatly benefit your gameplay, especially in a high-paced environment like PvP where no two encounters are the exact same. Macros specifically can lessen the time it takes you to perform an action by combining two commands into a single button. Addons can increase the amount of information you are receiving in order to be able to better make a decision as to what your next move should be. Listed below are our guides for Death Knight-specific Addons and Macros; most of these are targeted towards PvE but can also be quite useful for PvP.
Consumables in Wrath of the Lich king.
Consumables are considerably less relevant for PvP in WotLK Classic as many of them either do not work in instanced PvP or their effects are considerably lessened.
