Leveling Talent Tree and Build for Demonology Warlock
The build below is for open world leveling. It focuses on applying Corruption and Curse of Agony to as many targets around you, then blowing them up with your Metamorphosis and letting your Felguard cleave everything down. This build works for both open world leveling and for any dungeons you plan to do.
This buld is strictly for those of you that will be SOLELY dungeon leveling. It sacrifices the Affliciton talents for some Destruction talents to help you cast harder and faster Shadow Bolts and Immolates.
Leveling Rotation
Leveling as Demonology is all about your DoT's, your Demon and the infamous Metamorphosis. It's a rather simple leveling process in comparison to the other Demonology Warlock specs. While you don't have Siphon Life and Corruption healing you constantly, you do have your Felguard acting like a mini Warrior, charging in and cleaving all your enemies down, while you run around and apply your DoTs to everything around you. Once they're close enough pop Metamorphosis, which opens up the ability to use Immolation Aura, and watch all your enemies melt around you.
A perk to Demonology is that you have a deep toolkit to help you out while leveling. Immolate is better used with Demonology, thanks to the talent Molten Core, which extends it by 9 seconds and allows you to place Immolate up on all enemies around you. Metamorphosis should then be used to buff your Corruption damage. Follow this up with Immolation Aura to wipe out the mob pack. This will be more than enough to kill most enemies that you'll encounter in the open world. When fighting higher level enemies like elites, incorporate Shadow Bolt once you've applied Immolate and Corruption. Helpful Addons and Weakauras can assists you in tracking things like Molten Core procs, which will tell you when to Incinerate over Shadow Bolt to sqeeze out some more damage on the heavier mobs.
AoE Leveling Rotation as Demonology
Warlocks have one of the best AoE abilities in the game with Seed of Corruption. Even better, Demonology itself has another one of the best AoE abilities in the game with Metamorphosis and Immolation Aura. This makes Demonology the best AoE spec in the game when played properly. This also can cause you to have an extreme amount of threat issues if you're in a group and not careful. It's important to Soulshatter when you see your threat getting high and if you're running with a Paladin in your group, don't be afraid to ask for a bubble or Hand of Protection.
If you're leveling in the open world via quests, then the enemies should be dead long before your Immolation Aura runs out, but if they're still alive, feel free to toss a Seed of Corruption out.
If you're in a dungeon, apply Immolates while the tank gather all the enemies. Once he's got them all, run into melee range and use Metamorphosis and Immolation Aura and then cast Seed of Corruption until all the mobs are dead. It is wise to use Soulshatter after you cast a couple Seed of Corruption.
Demons for Leveling as Demonology
The best Demon to be using as Demonology is the Felguard. This is an extremely strong pet that gets even stronger with Demonology talents like Demonic Brutality, Master Demonologist, Demonic Empowerment and Unholy Power. Felguard has access to abilities like Demonic Frenzy, Intercept, Cleave and a taunt, Anguish.
List of Trainer Skills to Buy
Warlocks have a ton of spells and Demon Grimoires to buy. It can become daunting to think about which ones are worth getting. To keep it simple, you want to buy all ranks of spells that you find yourself using out in the open world. You can skip a bunch of spells if you want to save gold and make it less confusing. Some spells that you can skip training until level 80 are listed below in order of which they become available on your trainer.
- Curse of Weakness
- Searing Pain
- Ritual of Summoning
- Rain of Fire
- Eye of Kilrogg
- Curse of Tongues
