Because of the different stat values, as discussed in our stats page, the value of each gem varies, depending on the stats they provide.

The Red Gems are usually the most valuable, granting a lot of Spell Power. Blue Gems have Mp5 and Yellow Gems have Hit or Haste, which are also very valuable.

Phase 3 introduced epic gems from prospecting Titanium Ore. You can also transmute them with Alchemy or buy them with emblems.

Chaotic Skyflare Diamond is the best overall Meta Gem for Elemental Shamans, increasing your damage substantially and making your frequent Critical Strikes deal even more damage!

The Runed Cardinal Ruby is the main gem that you should be putting into the Red Sockets on your gear, with Veiled Ametrine also being worthy of consideration if you need extra Hit.

Royal Dreadstone is the best Blue Gem, and you need two of them to unlock Chaotic Skyflare Diamond. Try to put them into Blue Sockets in order to get some socket bonuses as well.

Veiled Ametrine is the best Yellow Gem. Use them on Yellow Sockets with good bonuses if you can use the extra Hit, or Reckless Ametrine if you are already Hit-capped.

Because of their expensive spells, Elemental Shamans can be quite Mana hungry. You can prolong your Mana bar by using consumables or having less Chain Lightnings in your rotation, which is recommended as it is a small damage gain over the much more Mana-conservative Lightning Bolt.

Flask of the Frost Wyrm is the recommended flask for Elemental, and is much stronger than using double elixirs, while potentially being much cheaper for progress on hard bosses because it does not get removed on death.

Spellpower Elixir is the best Battle Elixir and Elixir of Mighty Thoughts is the best Guardian Elixir.

Fish Feast, Tender Shoveltusk Steak, and Firecracker Salmon all grant 46 Spell Power, and are the best food buffs available.

Potion of Speed is the best DPS potion during a fight, although you can also try pre-potting with Potion of Wild Magic to boost your Fire Elemental Totem as much as possible.
