Best Gems for Holy Priest in Phase 3 of Wrath of the Lich King
Below is a list of the recommended gems for a Holy Priest in Wrath
of the Lich King Classic. Be sure to meet your Meta Gem requirements by using all of
the required colors. It is typically recommended to only use the minimum gems
required to activate your Meta Gem and then use
Yellow Gems in the rest of your
open sockets unless the socket bonus is great.
Your gemming will largely depend on whether or not you have mana issues. If you often find yourself completely out of mana before fights are ending you may need to opt into more Intellect. If not you will want to increase your Haste as much as possible to boost your healing output to the maximum.
Phase 3 introduces epic gems which can be obtained from multiple sources, making them readily available early on. Try to to use epic gems over rare gems as much as possible, especially in best in slot gear as they offer a great stat increase.

Holy Priest is an extremely Mana-hungry specialization. Early on you will want to use the Intellect-based gems shown above until you are comfortable with your Mana on fights and able to sustain your healing output. When your Mana needs are handled, you will want to swap over to Haste Rating gems to increase your healing output.
Best Consumables and Checklist for Holy Priest in Wrath of the Lich King
Below is a list of the recommended consumables for a Holy Priest in Wrath of the Lich King Classic. Some consumables have multiple options depending on your needs; be sure to choose accordingly.
Elixir of Lightning Speed &
Elixir of Draenic Wisdom
Runic Mana Potion,
Potion of Speed &
Runic Healing Potion
Cuttlesteak or
Imperial Manta Steak /
Very Burnt Worg
Saronite Bomb &
Global Thermal Sapper Charge
Glyph of Flash Heal,
Glyph of Guardian Spirit &
Glyph of Renew
Heavy Frostweave Bandage
Flasks
Flasks are not recommended for a Holy Priest as Elixirs provide a larger benefit. The main benefit of using a flask is that they persist through death, saving you gold if you happen to wipe.
Elixirs
Elixirs are preferred by Holy Priests in WotLK as they provide more stats
overall. They greatly help you with your Mana issues, whereas the flask only
provides a mid-priority stat. Use Guru's Elixir if you are having mana
issues, if not use
Elixir of Lightning Speed for even more healing
output.
Potions
Your potion options are fairly basic. You will use Runic Mana Potion in
combat to keep your Mana up, and
Potion of Speed will be used as your
pre-pot potion. It is recommended to always carry a stack of
Runic Healing Potions on you as they can sometimes save your life,
especially during trash pulls.
Food Buff
You have a few options when it comes to your food buff. Depending on your needs
you will either use Cuttlesteak for Mana regeneration, or
Imperial Manta Steak /
Very Burnt Worg for a healing increase. You
may also have someone in your raid providing the
Fish Feast, saving you
some gold on food buffs.
Best Profession Consumables for Holy Priest in Wrath of the Lich King
Here we will list the unique consumables provided by each individual profession.
Engineering
If you are an Engineer you will want to carry
Runic Mana Injector and
Runic Healing Injector on you instead of
their normal potion counterparts as these injectors restore an additional 25%
health or Mana to Engineers. You will also want to stock up on explosives to
deal high damage on AoE pulls.
Inscription
You will want to carry a few of each of these glyphs on you to swap around depending on the fight, your raid's needs, and the role you are covering.
First Aid
While these are minor and will see little use, it is always recommended to keep them on hand for the quick, Mana-free heal.
