Lord Jaraxxus Encounter Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot

Lord Jaraxxus is the second boss in the Trial of the Crusader raid instance. This boss will test your healers and your raids ability to switch targets while avoiding various ground hazards.

• If you see any kind of mob alive, kill it! Lord Jaraxxus should be last in your kill priority but make sure to take advantage of cleave when to maximize damage.
• If your class has multiple schools of magic you can use your non-primary school to bait the interrupt if you are targeted with Mistress Kiss
• Immunities such as Divine Shield and Iceblock remove the Incinerate Flesh debuff, feel free to use these to help your healers!

• Make sure your party frames clearly display the Incinerate Flesh debuff as the timer to heal this person can be tight if people do not switch quickly!
• Spread evenly around the room to mitigate damage taken by Fel Lightning
• Immunities such as Divine Shield and Iceblock remove the Incinerate Flesh debuff, feel free to use these to help your healers!

• On both Heroic and Regular difficulty the adds on this boss can safely be tanked in melee so melee can continue to cleave the boss while killing adds.
• Do not be afraid to move the boss if it means your raid can better cleave either an add or a spawning portal.

• Netherpower — Jaraxxus will give himself a dispelable buff that increases his damage by 20% stacking up to 10 times.
• Fel Fireball — Jaraxxus attempt to cast a fireball on his primary aggro target dealing massive fire damage and leaving a DoT on the target. This spell is interruptable
• Fel Lightning — Jaraxxus attempt to cast a fiery chain at a random player in the raid dealing fire damage to them and any nearby targets up to 4 players.
• Incinerate Flesh — Jaraxxus will choose a random player in the raid causing them to take fire damage and absorb healing; this debuff can only be removed by healing the player. If the player is not heal sufficiently they will explode dealing massive fire damage to the raid.
• Netherportal — Jaraxxus will spawn a portal that will begin to spawn Mistress of Pain mobs. On normal it will spawn a set number of adds on Heroic it must be killed.
• Legion Flame — Jaraxxus will apply a debuff to a random player in the raid causing them to spawn fire underneath themselves for 6 seconds.
• Infernal Eruption — Jaraxxus will spawn a volcano which will deal fire damage to anyone near it and spawn Felflame Infernal. On normal it will spawn a set number of adds on Heroic it must be killed.

• Spinning Pain Spike — The Mistress of Pain will grab a random target and inflect 50% of their maximum health as physical damage.
• Mistress Kiss — The Mistress of Pain will choose a random player and apply a debuff that will interrupt the next spell cast. This mechanic is only present on Heroic difficulty.

• Fel Inferno — The Infernal will leap to a random target and channel a fiery spell at the original location of their target, dealing fire damage to anyone near them.
• Felstreak — The Infernal will deal a considerable amount of fire damage to its primary aggro target.

This encounter can be completed with one tank but two makes handling the adds easier, the amount of healers you choose to bring will depend entirely on your raids familiarity with the mechanics to mitigate damage taken, typically the the more DPS you can bring the better as the quicker the add spawning portals and the adds themselves die there will be less mechanics and less overall healing required. Anywhere from 3-5 healers will work depending on your raid team. Bloodlust and Heroism typically can be used on the pull or whenever you feel it will maximize your raids damage, if you are struggling with handling the adds you can consider using it to kill the spawning devices but I would try to prioritize moving personal DPS cooldowns before Bloodlust and Heroism to accomplish this.

The fight against Lord Jaraxxus is a relatively simple one that will focus on your ability to kill adds and heal through occasional checks. Jaraxxus should be tanked in the center of the room but he can and should be moved around to allow your dps to cleave the spawners and the adds themselves. The Netherportal and Volcano are only targetable on the Heroic version of this encounter so do not worry about having to kill them on normal. Mages in your raid should be spell stealing Netherpower from Jaraxxus every chance they get as it will give them a sizable damage increase, if this is not possible make sure it is dispelled by another class. The Melee should be stacked on the boss and ranged should be evenly spread in a circle surrounding Jaraxxus though Fel Lightning does have a target cap you can help your healers by being spread to mitigate its bounces. The primary focus on this boss is to kill the Mistress of Pain and Felflame Infernal adds as quickly as possible once you have destroyed their respective spawners if you are doing Heroic. Members of the raid who are targeted with Legion Flame must move out of the fire spawning beneath them while trying to avoid running on top of other players. Jaraxxus will occasionally target a random member of the raid with Incinerate Flesh, this person must be healed to remove this debuff failing to sufficiently heal them will deal massive damage to the raid and very likely lead to a wipe, immunities such as Divine Shield and Iceblock can be used to remove this in case of emergency but should be saved for such. Mistress of Pain will randomly select a member of the raid to apply Mistress Kiss to which will interrupt their next spell cast, if your class has multiple schools of magic try using your non-primary school to consume this interrupt, this effect cannot be stopped by things such as Aura Mastery. In essence, kill portals/volcanos, kill adds and kill the boss while keeping everyone alive, avoid fire and heal the target with Incinerate Flesh and you will kill this boss quite quickly.

The only notable change other than increased heal and damage values for this encounter is that you must kill the Netherportal and the volcanos that will spawn from Infernal Eruption. Adds will continue to spawn from these until they are killed so this is your absolute highest priority.
