WotLK Classic Tailoring Profession and Leveling 1-450 Guide
Tailoring offers many different gear options throughout all Phases of Wrath of the Lich King Classic, with many of them being best-in-slot for some specializations.
In this guide, we will show you all the different gear available to Tailoring, how to train the profession, unlock its different specializations, and many other things.
Introduction
Tailoring is an iconic Profession for Cloth-wearing classes as it can be used to provide some powerful gear. Tailoring also offers unique enchants that can not be made by other professions, making it highly desired in end-game content.
Tailoring is often paired with Enchanting, so as to Disenchant the stuff you make while leveling it up, but this is not mandatory. Another option is a gathering profession like Herbalism or Mining since Tailoring is not reliant on another profession to provide the materials it needs to make items.

Tailoring Specializations in Wrath of the Lich King
Tailoring is one of the few Professions in WotLK to keep its specializations, although they play a much smaller role than they did in previous expansions. All 3 specializations still exist, Mooncloth Tailoring, Spellfire Tailoring and Shadoweave Tailoring; but instead of providing unique gear based on your specialization, you simply only gain double the amount of specialty cloth made every cooldown.
WotLK has 3 new cloths available at level 415 Tailoring; Ebonweave, Moonshroud, and Spellweave. These cloths have nearly a 4-day cooldown, making them valuable to craft every time they are available. Whichever specialization you pick will increase the cloth crafted from 1 to 2.
Unlocking a specialization requires you to be Level 60, have 350 Tailoring skill and complete one of the quests down below. After unlocking a specialization, you are able to change between the 3 options for a fee of 170g by talking with the quest givers below.
- Becoming a Shadoweave Tailor — Andrion Darkspinner in Shattrath City.
- Becoming a Spellfire Tailor — Gidge Spellweaver in Shattrath City.
- Becoming a Mooncloth Tailor — Nasmara Moonsong in Shattrath City.
Tailoring Profession Bonus in Wrath of the Lich King
Tailoring offers the ability to craft some great end-game gear, as well as some powerful, unique cloak enchants. These cloak enchants have an amount of randomness to them as they are procs instead of passive stat increases. These enchants will be lost if you get rid of Tailoring.
- Darkglow Embroidery — Average of 33.3 Mp5
- Lightweave Embroidery — Average of 74 Spell Power
- Swordguard Embroidery — Average of 100 Attack Power
Tailoring Mounts in Wrath of the Lich King
- Flying Carpet — 150% flying speed mount.
- Frosty Flying Carpet — 280% flying speed mount.
- Magnificent Flying Carpet — 280% flying speed mount.
