Trial of the Champion Dungeon Guide
Trial of the Champion can be found in Icecrown and will be released as part of a later phase in Wrath of the Lich King Classic. The recommended level range to run this dungeon on Normal is 78-80. Heroic mode will require Level 80 to enter.
In this guide, we will cover dungeon quests, the layout of the dungeon, tactics for each boss, loot that can be obtained, and ideal group compositions.
Trial of the Champion Quests
Trial of the Champion only has one quest available for it, the Heroic daily quest Proof of Demise: The Black Knight. Check in Dalaran City to see if this is the current daily quest before heading inside.
Trial of the Champion Entrance Location

The Trial of the Champion dungeon can be found at the far North corner of Icecrown. The dungeon entrance itself is on the North side of the Crusaders' Coliseum structure in the middle of the Argent Tournament grounds. There is a summoning stone on the Eastern side of this large building.
Overview of Bosses in Trial of the Champion
Here we will give you a full rundown of what you can expect from each of the bosses found here on both Normal and Heroic difficulties as well as the items they drop.
Grand Champions
Mechanics and Strategy
This encounter starts off with players grabbing and equipping
Argent Lance, allowing access to the faction-specific mount needed for
the first phase of this fight. This mount has unique abilities that must be used
in order to dismount the three Grand Champions your group will be facing.
Be sure to keep your shield from Defend up at all times to greatly
reduce incoming damage. Use
Shield-Breaker and
Charge to
remove enemy shields to greatly increase your damage output. It is recommended
that you have your party members all focus down the same target to quickly
remove one of your opponents. After defeating all enemies, the three Champions
you are facing will dismount and you will fight them normally.

- Ambrose Boltspark / Eressea Dawnsinger (Mage)
- Lana Stouthammer / Deathstalker Visceri (Rogue)
- Colosos / Runok Wildmane (Shaman)
- Marshal Jacob Alerius / Mokra the Skullcrusher (Warrior)
Be sure to focus down one target at a time as these Champions can be quite dangerous if left alive for long periods of time. Both the Rogue and Shaman are great first targets as they are quite powerful. Be ready with any interrupts available for the powerful casts and heals, as well as any dispels for the multiple different Curses, Poisons, and magical debuffs and buffs. Controlling the adds on this fight is the easiest way to assure victory.

Eadric the Pure / Argent Confessor Paletress
Mechanics and Strategy

- Argent Confessor Paletress
When running this dungeon, the second boss can be either
Eadric the Pure or Argent Confessor Paletress. If facing Eadric,
face away from him at the end of his Radiance cast to avoid becoming
disoriented. Dispel the
Hammer of Justice on whoever gets stunned; this
allows them to catch
Hammer of the Righteous and throw it back at Eadric,
dealing high damage.
If fighting Paletress, do your best to interrupt and dispel and heals she
casts. When she summons a memory with Summon Memory, focus it down
quickly and interrupt anything it casts.

The Black Knight
Mechanics and Strategy

- Phase Two
- Phase Three
Do your best to remove both Diseases whenever they get applied to reduce the
damage from Obliterate.
In Phase Two The Black Knight will continue to use all of the same
abilities from Phase One except Death's Respite.
Phase Three is just a DPS race to kill the boss before the stacks from
Death's Bite overwhelm the party.
