On this page, you will find out the optimal PvE stat priority for your Combat Rogue Tank in WoW Classic - Season of Discovery. We first present the stat priority, before delving into more complex explanations.

1.

Stat Priority for Combat Tank Rogue

Stats for your Rogue Tank are quite similar to those of a DPS specialization just with an added priority on Stamina, there is very little gear with defensive secondary stats available in the game currently so your focus should be primarily on maximizing your Stamina and Agility for more health and dodge rating.

  1. Stamina
  2. Agility
  3. Hit Rating (to 9%)
  4. Strength/Attack Power
  5. Crit Chance

Stats Further Explained

2.1.

Stamina

Each point of Stamina increases your health by 10. As a class with very little tools to properly handle incoming Magic damage Stamina will be crucial to surviving any encounter with a boss that primarily deals damage via spells. You will rarely have to choose items specifically because they have Stamina on them but some items will be budgeted more towards Stamina than other primary stats so make sure to keep this in mind.

2.2.

Agility

Agility is the second strongest primary stat for Rogues as it increases not only their attack power but also increases their critical strike chance and your dodge rating. Agility being a primary stat will be plentiful on gear and you will not often have to choose between it and other stats.

2.3.

Hit Rating

Hit Rating increases your chance of hitting the target, abilities and attacks that miss deal 0 damage making Hit Rating quite important. In order to guarantee your chance to hit a boss inside of a raid instance you would need 9% Hit Rating as a Tank Rogue we have access to a large number of ways to get closer to this hit cap specifically Precision Icon Precision, Weapon Expertise Icon Weapon Expertise and the Runes you will find on your Ring slots making it much easier to reach Melee hit cap allowing us to focus on maximizing our Stamina and defensive stats found elsewhere.

2.4.

Strength/Attack Power

Strength grants Attack power at the same conversion rate as Agility but does not grant Critical Strike or Dodge rating making it worse than Agility, this makes this stat equivalent to Attack Power which you may see by itself on gear. The added Attack Power is a great source of additional threat though you are unlikely to have threat issues with the current tools available as a Tank rogue.

2.5.

Critical Strike

Critical Strike rating increases the chance that you will hit with a Critical Strike (100% of damage) Threat is rarely an issue as a Rogue tank but the added damage is never a bad thing though not something to prioritize over any other stat.
