Darkmoon Faire Guide for WoW Classic and Season of Mastery

The Darkmoon Faire is a monthly event in WoW Classic that starts on the first Friday of each month and brings buffs, quests, epic gear, cosmetic gear, pets and two mini-games.

You can find it in Mulgore or Elwynn Forest, but hurry up, as it only stays around for a week!

1.

What is the Darkmoon Faire?

Quoting the official introduction:

A gathering of the exotic from around the world and beyond, the Darkmoon Faire is a celebration of the wondrous and mysterious found in Azeroth. While the Faire spends most of its time in parts unknown, Silas Darkmoon and his enigmatic employees do stop from time to time in Mulgore and Elwynn Forest. When the Faire is on its way, barkers will stop by Orgrimmar and Ironforge to announce its arrival.

The Darkmoon Faire is a monthly event. It always lasts exactly one week and starts setting up on the first Friday of every month, becoming available at the start of the next Monday. Its location rotates between Mulgore (38,39 coordinates) and Elwynn Forest (42,70 coordinates).

Do note that, while there will be NPCs heralding the arrival of the Darkmoon Faire in Ironforge and Orgrimmar, they are not able to instantly teleport you to the Faire grounds in WoW Classic.

2.

Darkmoon Fortune Buffs

By talking and answering Sayge's two questions, you can gain access to special world buffs that last for two hours and have a four hour cooldown (only counted from time you are logged in) until you can request a new fortune. Also, make sure you have space in your inventory for the fortune quest item!

The first question has four possible answers and the second question has three possible answers. The combination of both answers dictates which buff you get.

These buffs can allow you to clear raids and other hard content much faster, and you should look to get the 10% damage increase buff whenever you can, which simply requires you to pick the first option on both questions:

Answers Buff
1st option + 1st option +10% Damage
1st option + 2nd option +25 Resistances
1st option + 3rd option +10% Armor
2nd option + 1st option +10% Spirit
2nd option + 2nd option +10% Intelligence
3rd option + 1st option +10% Stamina
3rd option + 2nd option +10% Strength
3rd option + 3rd option +10% Agility

Non listed answer possibilities simply result in one of the above options, but beware that 10% extra damage is only possible by picking the first answer on both questions!

3.

Darkmoon Faire Tickets and Prizes

You can obtain Darkmoon Faire Prize Ticket Icon Darkmoon Faire Prize Ticket by completing repeatable profession item turn-in quests given by various Faire NPCs. There are multiple quests available, giving out anything from a single ticket, up to 20 tickets per turn-in. You will also get some reputation for your turn-ins, but there are no relevant rewards associated with its reputation in WoW Classic.

You can use these tickets to buy out multiple prizes, but the most important of them are the Orb of the Darkmoon Icon Orb of the Darkmoon and the Amulet of the Darkmoon Icon Amulet of the Darkmoon, which are best in slot gear for many classes, especially the Orb!

4.

Best way to get the Darkmoon Orb or Amulet

To save you time and money on the way to obtaining these coveted items, we recommend that you focus on turning in Rituals of Strength and its follow up quest at Kerri Hicks, which will get you to 1200 tickets with just 480 Dense Grinding Stone Icon Dense Grinding Stone (crafted by Blacksmithing from 1920 Dense Stone Icon Dense Stone raw materials).

Look out for cheap Evil Bat Eye Icon Evil Bat Eye and Glowing Scorpid Blood Icon Glowing Scorpid Blood on your server's auction house as well, which can turned in for Evil Bat Eyes and Glowing Scorpid Blood at Yebb Neblegear. These can also be farmed easily in the Eastern Plaguelands and Silithus, respectively.

While the items mentioned so far will tend to the be cheapest, least painful way to get 1200 tickets, if your server's supply of them runs out or they become too expensive, try turning in Armor Kits (8x Rugged Armor Kit Icon Rugged Armor Kit from Leatherworking, which need 5x Rugged Leather Icon Rugged Leather each) at Chronos, or Thorium Widget (6x Thorium Widget Icon Thorium Widget from Engineering, which require 3x Thorium Bar Icon Thorium Bar and 1x Runecloth Icon Runecloth each) at Rinling.

The remaining quests reward lower ticket amounts, which tends to make them more time consuming, and often more expensive, relative to the amount of tickets received per gold spent.

5.

Other Darkmoon Faire Ticket Rewards

While Orb of the Darkmoon Icon Orb of the Darkmoon and Amulet of the Darkmoon Icon Amulet of the Darkmoon are the premium rewards from Darkmoon Faire, this is the full list of available items:

Cost Item
5 Darkmoon Flower Icon Darkmoon Flower
5 Minor Darkmoon Prize Icon Minor Darkmoon Prize
10 Last Month's Mutton Icon Last Month's Mutton
12 Lesser Darkmoon Prize Icon Lesser Darkmoon Prize

1200 Amulet of the Darkmoon Icon Amulet of the Darkmoon
1200 Orb of the Darkmoon Icon Orb of the Darkmoon

Most of these items are (cosmetic) gear, but the Darkmoon Prizes deserve a special mention:

  1. Minor Darkmoon Prize Icon Minor Darkmoon Prize rewards low level (~25ish) green gear, 10-slot bags and low level gems.
  2. Lesser Darkmoon Prize Icon Lesser Darkmoon Prize rewards medium level (~40ish) gear, 12-slot bags and medium level gems.
  3. Greater Darkmoon Prize Icon Greater Darkmoon Prize rewards high level (~55ish) gear, 16-slot bags and high level gems. This bag can make you large profits if you are lucky, as 16-slot bags and high level green items (for Greater Eternal Essence Icon Greater Eternal Essence) are extremely valuable.
6.

Darkmoon Cards and Decks

Darkmoon Cards are now dropping all over the world, and you will probably find some during your journey in Azeroth.

You need 8 different cards of a type (Elementals, Portals, Warlords and Beasts) to assemble a deck, which can then be traded for a trinket gear piece at Professor Thaddeus Paleo in the Darkmoon Faire.

The 2 to 8 cards come from random Humanoid or Undead enemies who are of level 45 or above, but the 1, or Ace, card, comes from specific enemies depending on the deck you are trying to assemble:

Card Location
Ace of Elementals Icon Ace of Elementals Elemental Invasion bosses
Ace of Portals Icon Ace of Portals Darkmaster Gandling in Scholomance
Ace of Warlords Icon Ace of Warlords King Gordok in Dire Maul
Ace of Beasts Icon Ace of Beasts The Beast in Upper Blackrock Spire

Darkmoon Faire Trinket Effects

Elementals Deck Icon Elementals Deck Darkmoon Card: Maelstrom Icon Darkmoon Card: Maelstrom Decent to good DPS trinket for most melee characters.
Portals Deck Icon Portals Deck Darkmoon Card: Twisting Nether Icon Darkmoon Card: Twisting Nether While the chance is low, it can provide a second life, if you are lucky.
Warlords Deck Icon Warlords Deck Darkmoon Card: Heroism Icon Darkmoon Card: Heroism Good for solo farming on melee characters.
Beasts Deck Icon Beasts Deck Darkmoon Card: Blue Dragon Icon Darkmoon Card: Blue Dragon Similar to Mindtap Talisman Icon Mindtap Talisman for high Spirit Priests, worse otherwise.

Unfortunately, none of the trinkets are very exciting, and for the most part provide fun / niche effects.
