Foreword
Unlike some classes, Warlock has several viable leveling builds that will give you different strengths while leveling. Demonology will offer a more defensive option while leveling, where you will utilize your demon for more damage while taking advantage of great defensive talents such as Soul Link. You also will be using more offensive pets for damage, specifically an Imp and eventually a Succubus.

Leveling Talent Tree & Build
Your first talent unlocks at Level 10.
- Level 10 to 14 — 5 points in Improved Corruption
- Level 15 to 16 — 2 points in Suppression
- Level 17 to 21 — 5 points in Demonic Embrace
Improved Corruption removes the cast time of your Corruption and makes it instant cast. While 2 points is enough to make the Corruption cast below the GCD, the full 5 points makes it instant, allowing you to cast Corruption while moving.

Next, put two points into Suppression as this will increase your chance to hit your enemies. Some people choose to put more points into Suppression, however two points is more than enough, as you should rarely be fighting mobs 3 levels higher than you.

Demonic Embrace boosts your stamina by 15%, making you much more tanky. The 5% spirit loss is meaningless, as Warlock doesn't benefit from the stat.
- Level 22 to 24 — 3 points in Improved Voidwalker.
- Level 25 to 26 — 2 points in Improved Healthstone.
- Level 27 — 1 point in Fel Domination.
- Level 28 to 31 — 4 points in Fel Stamina.
Your next three points should go into Improved Voidwalker. This will make your Voidwalkers abilites 30% stronger. This means that both the Voidwalker's single target and AoE taunts are 30% more effective, the pet heals 30% more from Consume Shadows, and Sacrifice will absorb 30% more.

Mainly this is used to quickly summon another Voidwalker to Taunt again, or Sacrifice for another shield.

Leveling Rotation
Your goal should be to get your Imp and Immolate immediately, which will give you the highest damage output in the game prior to level 10. If you sell your armor that you're wearing when you start the game, you'll have the exact amount needed to buy Immolate at level 1. Likewise, just killing a couple mobs in the starting zone will give you enough as well. Eventually you will pick up your Succubus, but with both the Imp and Succubus you should continue with the basic practice of using your DoTs on the target then finishing them off with your wand. Use Life Tap as needed for Mana regeneration to try and limit downtime. You should immediately start using your wand as a filler in place of Shadow Bolt once you get one, which will drastically help your mana. Plus the wands in the early game to an insane amount of damage. You can buy a Lesser Magic Wand and Greater Magic Wand from the Auction House. Or if you're playing Hardcore, you can be Tailoring and Enchanting and make them.
- Command your pet to attack the target;
- Immolate;
- Curse of Agony;
- Corruption;
- Shadow Bolt until you get your wand.
- Shoot with your wand;
- Drain Soul to kill the enemy if you need a Soul Shard.
Detailed Leveling Rotation Explanation
Warlocks have one of the strongest starts in the game. Immolate is available for purchase for 10 copper from level 1, meaning you should sell your water and food to get it as soon as possible. From there you can do the Warlock quest from your trainer to get your Imp, which you can easily get by level 2 or 3. With your Imp and Immolate, you should have no trouble wreaking havoc on anything in your path for a few levels.
As soon as you hit level 10, head to your Warlock Trainer and pick up the quest to get your Voidwalker. It will be the focal point of your build. It's rather easy to steal threat from Voidwalker by using things like Shadow Bolt and Immolate at the start of an encounter. You should always send your Voidwalker in to attack first, then use Curse of Agony and Corruption as they generate less threat, which will allow your Voidwalker to hold threat much longer.
With the example of fighting three mobs at once, send your Voidwalker in, let him attack each one and AoE taunt if you have it. Spread Curse of Agony and Corruption to the three mobs, while at the same time manually having your Voidwalker taunt each enemy in turn. It's suggested to have all of your pets abilites off of auto cast and on comfortable keybinds so you can easily taunt. Doing this will also preserve the Voidwalker's Mana. To help the Voidwalker live longer, order it to tank two mobs, taking threat on the third enemy and drain tanking. This is a good practice so you can also build your Defense skill up.
At level 20, feel free to go pick up the quest to get your Succubus/Incubus, if you choose to use that. This is a good option for demon that does the most damage out of the other demons and has Seduction which is a strong CC that will charm, making them do nothing for 15 seconds.
At level 30, you'll be able to pick up the quest to get your Felhunter, if you choose to use that. The Felhunter has great utility with Spell Lock, which can come in handy for any spellcasters you'll encounter and Devour Magic which will purge a harmful magical debuff from you as well as purge a helpful one off of the enemy.
List of Trainer Skills
All Warlock specs benefit from upgrading the same skills, so our list of skills to buy from trainers is the same, regardless of the spec. For this reason, you will find that list in our general Warlock leveling page.
Warlocks have the option to buy a vast amount of spells and Demon Grimoires. With how many spells there are to buy, there's also a ton that you can skip. Below is a list of all spells and Grimoires you can skip. The list will be in order of the level you learn them at.
- Buy all Grimoires for the Demon you plan to use. If you plan to use Voidwalker, then keep all the Voidwalker Grimoires up to date, while not worrying about Imp, Succubus or the Felhunters Grimoires.
- Curse of Weakness
- Sense Demons
- Enslave Demon
- Create Soulstone
- Curse of Tongues
- Hellfire
- Drain Mana
- Create Firestone
- Curse of Shadow
- Curse of the Elements
- Curse of Doom
