The Edge of Madness is the second optional boss encounter in Zul'Gurub, found on the Eastern edge. You can cleanse the brazier to start the encounter, which can be one of four possible bosses that rotate biweekly.

1.

Edge of Madness Summary

Edge of Madness is one of the optional raid bosses in Zul'Gurub, and unlike other bosses, you need to use items to summon the boss. To begin the encounter, you must use a Gurubashi Mojo Madness Icon Gurubashi Mojo Madness to cleanse the Brazier of Madness, which will then summon the boss for the week. Alchemists can learn to craft the Mojos from clicking on the Brazier in the room. To craft a Gurubashi Mojo Madness Icon Gurubashi Mojo Madness, you will need 1x Blood of Heroes Icon Blood of Heroes, 1x Massive Mojo Icon Massive Mojo, 1x Black Lotus Icon Black Lotus, and 6x Powerful Mojo Icon Powerful Mojo. While this is an optional encounter, you will need to clear this weekly to get the item drops needed for your raiders to craft their tier class trinkets. There are four possible bosses that can spawn, and they change every two weeks. You will need to kill all four bosses to get all of the necessary items to receive your class trinkets.

As mentioned above, there are four possible bosses that can spawn. These are significantly easier than the other encounters in the raid, and do not have many mechanics. The possible bosses are Wushoolay, Hazza'rah, Gri'lek, and Renataki.

2.

Strategy for Wushoolay

Wushoolay

Wushoolay can cast Chain Lightning Icon Chain Lightning and Lightning Cloud IconLightning Cloud. The entire raid can avoid the Chain Lightning by just being behind the boss the whole time, and the Lightning Cloud can be avoided by just moving out of it when it spawns. Other than watching for the Lightning Clouds, just kill the boss. To be safe, ranged can also stay spread to avoid chaining the Chain Lightning if it is cast.

3.

Strategy for Hazza'rah

Hazza'rah

Hazza'rah has a very dangerous ability called Mana Burn Icon Mana Burn that will deal large amounts of damage and chain to players, but it requires Mana to cast. If your Hunters keep Viper Sting Icon Viper Sting up on the boss and a Warlock uses Drain Mana Icon Drain Mana when needed, you can keep him at zero Mana, making him unable to cast it. Hazza'rah will also periodically summon Nightmare Illusion adds. These adds deal very high amounts of damage, but have almost no health. If any DPS attacks them at all, they will die in a couple of hits. Just kill them immediately when you see them. Lastly, the boss will sometimes put the whole raid to Sleep IconSleep, which is a 6-second sleep that is broken by damage. Just make sure your tanks are topped up with a shield or some HoTs going into it.

4.

Strategy for Renataki

Renataki

Renataki's only important ability is Vanish Icon Vanish. This works like a Rogue's Vanish, which just makes him stealthed. You need to find him while he is stealthed by using AoE abilities like Arcane Explosion Icon Arcane Explosion around the room until you hit him, which will break him back out of stealth. Just keep doing this until you win.

5.

Strategy for Gri'lek

Gri'lek

Gri'lek's only important ability is Avatar IconAvatar. Every so often, he will enrage, becoming much larger, and fixating on one player. During Avatar, everyone needs to run away just to play it safe, since he can instantly kill anyone he hits, but once Avatar ends, you can just go back to killing him.
