General Rajaxx Guide: Strategy, Abilities, Loot

Last updated Yesterday at 20:28 by Abide 3 comments

General Rajaxx is the second boss in the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj, and one of the three mandatory bosses.

General Rajaxx is a longer, two phase encounter that starts with a lengthy gauntlet. Luckily, you get a team of NPCs to help you out. You can begin the gauntlet by speaking with Lieutenant General Andorov, and after defeating the seven wave gauntlet, you will face Rajaxx himself.

General Rajaxx Summary by Role

1.1.

Tanks

  • Focus on picking up the smaller adds during the gauntlet waves and just let the larger Captain get crowd controlled.
  • Remember that stuns and other CC abilities will work on the adds, so do not be afraid to use them to help out.
  • General Rajaxx will use Disarm Icon Disarm on the main tank, so, for safety, the tanks should swap when this is cast.
  • Make sure you are ready for each Thundercrash cast, since it will deal 50% of your current health in damage.
  • Be prepared to be knocked back during the Thundercrash casts.
1.2.

Healers

  • Make ample use of crowd control abilities, such as Entangling Roots Icon Entangling Roots, during the gauntlet on the smaller adds.
  • Make sure you are ready for each Thundercrash cast, since it will deal 50% of your current health in damage. Prioritize topping the tanks off before each cast.
  • Be prepared to be knocked back during the Thundercrash casts.
  • Be very careful to watch and heal up Lieutenant General Andorov and his four allies throughout the fight. They deal a helpful amount of damage and are worth keeping alive.
1.3.

DPS

  • Always focus the smaller adds first during the gauntlet before killing the Captains.
  • General Rajaxx is a DPS check, so make sure to save your cooldowns for facing him after the gauntlet.
  • Be prepared to be knocked back during the Thundercrash casts.

General Tips for General Rajaxx

  • Always kill the smaller adds while keeping the Captains controlled. The next wave will eventually spawn on its own, but you have time, so do not rush it.
  • Save all DPS cooldowns for General Rajaxx, since he is the main damage check.
  • Try to keep Lieutenant General Andorov and his four allies alive throughout the fight, as they are quite helpful.
  • Make sure the tanks are topped during Rajaxx, since they will be taking huge hits from Thundercrash.

Strategy for General Rajaxx

General Rajaxx is a two phase encounter. The first phase is a gauntlet where you will fight waves of enemies, with each wave consisting of several smaller adds and one larger Captain. All of the adds are susceptible to crowd control effects, such as stuns and longer spells, so make ample use of these to make the waves easier. Once the smaller adds are down, everyone can kill the Captain. The next wave will not spawn until the previous wave's Captain is killed or enough time elapses, so by saving the Captain for last, you can ensure that there will be no overlap, giving yourselves downtime between waves. The second phase will trigger once you kill seven Captains.

As a side note, more geared groups might fight the above strategy too slow, and, in that case, you can just have tanks pick up the Captains while everyone AoEs the packs down, finishing each wave by single targeting down the Captains.

In the second phase, you will face General Rajaxx himself. Aside from sometimes using Disarm Icon Disarm on his current tank, Rajaxx has one main mechanic; Thundercrash. General Rajaxx will periodically knock back the entire raid group and deal half of everyone's current health to them as damage. This is mainly a threat to the tanks, since taking the smash combined with some auto attacks can easily mean death, if the healers are not prepared. The rest of the raid should focus on burning down General Rajaxx quickly while watching for the knockback.
