With the launch of WoW Classic’s 20th Anniversary realms, players are reporting rare sightings of Game Masters once again appearing in the game, a throwback to the early days of Azeroth!
A Rare Spectacle in Modern WoW
In the early 2000s, seeing a Game Master (GM) was a magical and memorable experience. Game Masters appeared in front of players (wearing only plain hoods and robes) to help resolve issues or simply bring joy with playful interactions, such as summoning fireworks. However, in modern WoW, GMs typically operate behind the scenes, remaining invisible to players.
The WoW Classic reboot has changed that. Players have started spotting GMs in-game, reminiscent of the good old days! Here’s a look at some of these nostalgic encounters shared by players on Reddit.
One player stumbled across GM Vaxton, who made quite an impression riding a turtle mount!
Another player spotted GM Eovissar on the roof in Goldshire, perched on the rooftop in the town of Goldshire!
A German player has also reported sightings of GM Kapuze in Goldshire.
A Marketing Move or Pure Nostalgia?
The return of visible Game Masters in WoW Classic has led many to speculate: is this a calculated PR move by Blizzard to spotlight the anniversary realms, or a heartfelt nod to WoW’s legacy?
