Best Consumables for Healing Priests

Maximizing your performance in WoW Classic is all about consumables. There are a lot of them, usually they stack, and using them all can have a bigger impact than a full tier of gear upgrades.

Despite this, getting all of the consumables we will mention is extremely expensive, and as such, you should only use as many as you feel comfortable with.

Consumables come from a variety of sources, though the most common ones are crafted with Alchemy, or are creature drops and quest rewards. There are various types of consumables:

  • Flasks — Persist through death and last a very long time, with only one flask able to be active at a time. Typically quite expensive to craft.
  • Elixirs — Typically last a shorter duration than flasks, however, they disappear when you die. Elixir effects can be stacked except for with different ranks of the same elixir, or class buffs.
  • Potions — The most commonly used consumable which can be used multiple times during or before a fight. These typically restore some resources or provide a powerful but short-duration buff.
  • Food — Some food grant temporary buffs that disappear on death, much like Elixirs.
  • Items — Items from various sources can provide elixir or food style effects.
  • World Buffs — Many of these are typically quite powerful yet difficult to come by and should not be relied on, however they do provide a nice boost when they are applied.

Common Consumables for Healing Priests

While a full list is provided further on in this guide, here is a list of the common consumables most Healing Priests will want to have on-hand in Naxxramas. Consumables are especially important on the longer and more healing intensive bosses like Patchwerk, Sapphiron, and Kel'Thuzad.

If you have First Aid at 225, you can also bring Heavy Runecloth Bandage Icon Heavy Runecloth Bandages to provide additional healing on Loatheb.

Spectral Essence can be obtained through a quest chain which starts with the quest Doctor Theolen Krastinov, the Butcher.
  • Demonic Rune Icon Demonic Rune gives you 900 to 1500 Mana, at the cost of 600 to 1000 life. This does not share a cooldown with Potions. Demonic Runes drop from high level demons throughout the world.

World Buffs

World buffs are very powerful and are acquired through several different means. They are not required by any means to do the content in WoW Classic and you should generally not go out of your way to stack them unless you want to.

  • Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer Icon Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer increases your spell critical strike chance by 10%, your melee and ranged critical strike chance by 5%, and grants you 140 attack power. This buff lasts for 2 hours and can be acquired whenever the head of Onyxia or Nefarian gets turned in, either in Stormwind or Orgrimmar depending on your faction. When this happens, everyone in Stormwind or Orgrimmar gets affected by this buff.
  • Songflower Serenade Icon Songflower Serenade increasing all your attributes by 15 and increasing your spell, melee and ranged critical strike chance by 5%. This buff lasts for 1 hour and can be acquired through cleansing a Corrupted Songflower plant in Felwood by using a Cenarion Plant Salve Icon Cenarion Plant Salve on them.
  • Resist Fire Icon Resist Fire gives you 83 extra Fire Resistance for 1 hour. This buff can be acquired by having a Priest use Mind Control Icon Mind Control on a Scarshield Spellbinder mob in the Upper Blackrock Spire. Once the mob is affected by the Mind Control effect, the Priest can use it to apply this buff to all friendly targets in the group.
  • Warchief's Blessing Icon Warchief's Blessing increases your maximum health by 300, your melee haste by 15% and grants you an additional 10 Mana per 5 seconds. This buff lasts for 1 hour and can be acquired through someone turning in the quest For The Horde!, the objective of which is to kill Warchief Rend Blackhand and deliver his head to Thrall. When this happens, everyone in Orgrimmar is affected by this buff as long as they have at least Friendly reputation with Orgrimmar. Only Horde players can get this buff!
