Priest Healer Season of Mastery Phase 1/2 Gear

Below, you will find the best-in-slot items for Priest healers in Molten Core and Onyxia, along with pre-raid items where applicable. Please note that this list avoids using caster DPS items, as content in SoM moves faster and makes gearing casters much harder if healers get DPS items as well. If you are instead progressing through Tier 2 / Blackwing Lair, Tier 2.5 / AQ40, or Tier 3 / Naxxramas, see our updated lists for later phases instead.

Tier 1 Set: In general, Tier 1 pieces are considered bad, except for Bracers and Gloves, which provide decent healing combined with very good stats. The 3-set bonus of T1, which reduces the cast time of Flash Heal by 0.1s, should only be used if your raid's other healers know that you will be spot healing low hp targets with it. If your heals land faster than other healers', it will often result in overhealing, so choose carefully when you want to use this set bonus. It is not bad, but it can make healing inefficient. However, picking up uncontested Tier 1 pieces is not a bad idea for situations where you need a lot of health or mana regeneration.

* Note 1: Choker of the Fire Lord provides 1 more healing than Animated Chain Necklace. Do not take it from your caster DPS, it is BIS forever or very close to BIS forever for them for all of Classic. The same goes for Mana Igniting Cord; do not take it if a caster still needs it. Druids, Shamans, and Paladins are grateful if you pass Aurastone Hammer to them, as they, unlike you, do not have a free superior Benediction-like healing staff.

** Note 2: Hide of the Wild is the best cloak obtainable at the moment, however if you are unable to afford the materials or a crafted cloak, Cloak of the Cosmos is a less powerful alternative.

*** Note 3: If you do not have Tailoring then Robes of the Exalted from Baron Rivendare in Stratholme undead is a good replacement.

**** Note 4: While Cauterizing Band is not unique and can be equipped in both ring slots, it can be difficult to obtain two. Fordring's Seal is a great replacement for the second slot until you can obtain your second Cauterizing Band.
