Molten Core (Phase 4) Protection Warrior Best in Slot

The reason why this BiS list looks almost exactly like a Fury DPS list is because it assumes you have access to the Tier 1 DPS set, Unstoppable Might bonuses:

(2) Set: You gain 10 Rage when you change stances.
(4) Set: For 5 sec after leaving a stance, you can use abilities requiring that stance as if you were still in that stance.
(6) Set : For the first 10 sec after activating a stance, you can gain an additional benefit: Battle Stance/Gladiator Stance: 10% increased damage done. Berserker Stance: 10% increased critical strike chance. Defensive Stance: 10% reduced Physical damage taken.

With this set you can deal massive amounts of damage like a Fury Warrior by stance dancing for temporary buffs which also enable the usage of powerful damage abilities such as Whirlwind Icon Whirlwind while in Defensive Stance Icon Defensive Stance, which will provide you with 10% less Physical damage taken and more threat generation! Rotationally wise, it plays similar to a Fury Warrior but with much more stance dancing involved to keep buffs up and high damage abilities enabled to be used while on Defensive Stance.

During the pre-raid period you will not have access to the powerful Tier 1 bonuses, and thus should play Deep Protection to take advantage of the new Shield Slam Icon Shield Slam 4 Attack Power per each Defense point beyond 300 bonus.

This bonus will make Defense a stronger stat than usual, allowing it to scale you both offensively and defensively!

With the added damage intake in Phase 2 and addition of Spirit of the Alpha Icon Spirit of the Alpha and Blessing of Salvation Icon Blessing of Salvation for easier threat management, defensive play is more viable than it was before, and the gear listed here has much lower competition than the offensive gear listed in the alternative BiS gear further down below.
