Assassination Rogue DPS Castle Nathria Raid Guide — Dragonflight 10.2.5
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Assassination Rogue for each boss of the following raid: Castle Nathria. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Dragonflight 10.2.5.
Introduction
On this page, you will find Assassination Rogue specific information to deal with each boss in the Castle Nathria raid.
This page assumes that you already understand most of the mechanics of each encounter. These can be found on the full raid guide, so what is contained here are details specifically tailored toward Assassination Rogue and what you can do to deal with each fight as best as possible.
Disclaimer: These tips and recommendations were made for Season 4 of Shadowlands, and any potential changes or adjustments for Dragonflight are not taken into consideration.
During the Dragonflight Pre-Patch, Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones will be simultaneously featured as Fated Raids. During this time encounters within each specific raid will include an additional mechanic and items will drop at increased item levels. If you would like to learn more general information about the Fated Raids system as a whole, please see our overview below. Otherwise, continue to use this page for specialization-specific tips.
Legendary and Covenant Recommendations
Disclaimer: While the Devs of the game have confirmed the intention for changing Duskwalker as detailed below, it does not yet work correctly on the PTR. We will update this section as soon as possible once servers have gone live. Even if it will not work, it will be hotfixed in a future patch.
You will want to play Duskwalker's Patch at all times as it now works on Deathmark instead of Vendetta.
Unless noted otherwise, we highly recommend playing Venthyr as your Covenant on every single fight.

Shriekwing
Tips
You can use Feint to further reduce damage taken as you hide behind a pillar from Earsplitting Shriek.
For more information, please refer to our Shriekwing guide.
Huntsman Altimor
Tips
Necrolord is a viable alternative for higher overall damage on this fight.
As Shades of Bargast gain stacks of Destabilize while they are being crowd controlled, you should use Blind on any Shades that are not assigned to be killed yet. Hold Kidney Shot until you are about to kill a Shade, as this will further boost your raids damage on them thanks to Prey on the Weak.
For more information, please refer to our Huntsman Altimor guide.
Hungering Destroyer
Tips
Cloak of Shadows can be used to clear multiple Obliterating Rift left behind after the boss casts Expunge.
Mythic Difficulty: You can clear your stacks of Essence Sap by using Cloak of Shadows, allowing you to give more health without taking excessive damage.
For more information, please refer to our Hungering Destroyer guide.
Artificer Xy'Mox
Tips
Getting hit by a Fleeting Spirit in Phase One of the encounter while Cloak of Shadows is active will simply despawn the spirit without the mind-control taking effect.
Mythic Difficulty: You will want to hold Cloak of Shadows to help clear Stasis Trap whenever possible. Try to overlap this soak with getting one of the Spirits to immune both at the same time.
For more information, please refer to our Artificer Xy'Mox guide.
Sun King's Salvation
Tips
Cloak of Shadows works against all sources of Fire Damage taken in this fight, but should be held onto in order to soak Ember Blast with your raid.
Use Kidney Shot to disrupt the Soul Infuser from damaging the boss or healing the Shade.
Mythic Difficulty: You can use Blind to control one of the Phoenixes for up to 60 seconds, allowing you to save precious knockback abilities for later stages.
For more information, please refer to our Sun King's Salvation guide.
Lady Inerva Darkvein
Tips
In order to maximize your cleave potential you will want to make sure you are positioned properly whenever the Concentrated Anima adds are spawning.
Mythic Difficulty: It is advised to use Cloak of Shadows before one of the Container of Concentrated Anima casts. This might allow you to completely avoid one of the add spawns, giving you and your raid more time to focus on the boss.
For more information, please refer to our Lady Inerva Darkvein guide.
The Council of Blood
Tips
Make sure to hold onto Shadowstep so you can chase the boss up until the last moment before the intermission begins. You will want to have Shadowstep available in case you are assigned a spot in the far back of the room and use it on a friendly player that is closest to your position.
Mythic Difficulty: Prepare your burst damage for Dutiful Attendants by pooling Combo Point and Energy, as well as your Shiv. While you cannot remove the Dancing Fever debuff, you will be able to immune the damage taken. Feint also works to reduce your damage taken during these high pressure phases of the encounter.
For more information, please refer to our The Council of Blood guide.
Sludgefist
Tips
Make frequent use of Feint to avoid incoming area damage.
Every ~60 seconds, the boss will use Heedless Charge. Once he crashes into an obstacle, he will be vulnerable and take 100% increased damage for 12 seconds. You will want to hold onto Vendetta on pull, and instead use it after the first charge. Make sure you have Shiv ready and that you refreshed your bleeds and Slice and Dice before the charge, allowing you to burst as much as you can during the vulnerability.
For more information, please refer to our Sludgefist guide.
Stone Legion Generals
Tips
Necrolord is a viable alternative on this fight for higher damage output on the adds as well as both bosses.
You can use Shadowstep mid-air after being knocked back by Prince Renathal's Shattering Blast, canceling the knock back effect entirely.
For more information, please refer to our Stone Legion Generals guide.
Sire Denathrius
Tips
Make sure to have Combo Points ready to immediately use Crimson Tempest as the Echo of Sin spawn whenever Cleansing Pain finishes casting. If your raid can handle the adds in Phase One and Phase Two without any struggles, it is recommended to talent Poison Bomb instead for more single-target damage in Phase Three of the encounter.
Shadowstep allows you to quickly get to the middle of the boss area in Phase One or to get away from Denathrius in Phase Two and Three after Hand of Destruction is cast.
Cloak of Shadows can be used to avoid taking damage while soaking Smoldering Ire.
For more information, please refer to our Sire Denathrius guide.
