Assassination Rogue DPS Sanctum of Domination Raid Guide — Dragonflight 10.2.5
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Assassination Rogue for each boss of the following raid: Sanctum of Domination. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Dragonflight 10.2.5.
Introduction
On this page, you will find Assassination Rogue specific information to deal with each boss in the Sanctum of Domination raid.
This page assumes that you already understand most of the mechanics of each encounter. These can be found on the full raid guide, so what is contained here are details specifically tailored toward Assassination Rogue and what you can do to deal with each fight as best as possible.
Disclaimer: These tips and recommendations were made for Season 4 of Shadowlands, and any potential changes or adjustments for Dragonflight are not taken into consideration.
During the Dragonflight Pre-Patch, Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones will be simultaneously featured as Fated Raids. During this time encounters within each specific raid will include an additional mechanic and items will drop at increased item levels. If you would like to learn more general information about the Fated Raids system as a whole, please see our overview below. Otherwise, continue to use this page for specialization-specific tips.
Legendary and Covenant Recommendations
Disclaimer: While the Devs of the game have confirmed the intention for changing Duskwalker as detailed below, it does not yet work correctly on the PTR. We will update this section as soon as possible once servers have gone live. Even if it will not work, it will be hotfixed in a future patch.
You will want to play Duskwalker's Patch at all times as it now works on Deathmark instead of Vendetta.
Unless noted otherwise, we highly recommend playing Venthyr as your Covenant on every single fight.
Talent Cheatsheet
You can easily import the talent tree below into the game with the following string:

The Tarragrue
Cloak of Shadows can be used to remove Predator's Howl on yourself or to keep damaging the boss during Hungering Mist.
You should avoid picking Anima Powers with negative side-effects, such as Lumbering Form, Twisted Samophlange or Ten of Towers.
Evasion can be used to soak the Chains of Eternity, avoiding the stun so no Annihilating Smash is cast.
Mythic Difficulty: There are no specific mechanics you can avoid that are exclusive to the Mythic version of this fight.
For more information, please refer to our The Tarragrue guide.
The Eye of the Jailer
You can avoid Annihilating Glare completely by using Shadowstep instead of having to use Grapple!. When using Shadowstep, you will always land on the left-hand side of the platform so make sure to use it very late if the boss starts his beam on the right side of the platform. You can also run through the beam with Cloak of Shadows.
Mythic Difficulty: Cloak of Shadows does not remove the Scorn and Ire debuffs, but it will prevent a new application. You can use this to lower the damage intake, and it will not trigger a Scorned Annihilation.
For more information, please refer to our The Eye of the Jailer guide.
The Nine
You can solo-soak Arthura's Crushing Gaze with Cloak of Shadows.
You can stay inside Kyra's Wings of Rage with Evasion and not take damage or get stunned. Make sure to face the boss while doing so.
Mythic Difficulty: Evasion can still be used in the second stage to continue avoiding taking damage from Wings of Rage. Make sure to face the center of the area or you will get hit in the back and die.
For more information, please refer to our The Nine guide.
Remnant of Ner'zhul
Cloak of Shadows can be used to not get slowed while carrying an Orb of Torment. Do not use it while afflicted by Malevolence or you will trigger the knockback effect immediately.
Feint should always be used to mitigate the damage taken from Shatter.
Shadowstep is very helpful to counteract the knockback effects and keep higher uptime on the boss.
Mythic Difficulty: While there are no specific mechanics you can avoid that are exclusive to the Mythic version of this fight, it is extra important to ensure you do not get knocked off the platform during any stage of this encounter. You can give yourself a bit of extra time to Shadowstep to the boss or any friendly player by not facing towards the boss, but turning your character at a 90° angle.
For more information, please refer to our Remnant of Ner'zhul guide.
Soulrender Dormazain
Cloak of Shadows can be used to avoid taking damage from most abilities in this encounter.
Feint should be used before each Warmonger Shackles get broken.
Mythic Difficulty: There are no specific mechanics you can avoid that are exclusive to the Mythic version of this fight.
For more information, please refer to our Soulrender Dormazain guide.
Painsmith Raznal
Cloak of Shadows allows you to avoid taking damage from Flameclasp Eruption.
Mythic Difficulty: In order to safely avoid getting hit by the wave of spikes that cover the entire length of the room during each intermission, you will want to use Shadowstep on a player that is already on the safe side. You can also ask one of your Warlocks or Shamans to pre-place a totem or Pet at a safe spot before the intermission starts.
For more information, please refer to our Painsmith Raznal guide.
Guardian of the First Ones
Feint and Cloak of Shadows can be used to help soak Obliterate.
When not helping soak the tank ability, you can use Cloak of Shadows on any damaging ability in this encounter, and should use Feint for every Threat Neutralization.
Mythic Difficulty: Most strategies on this boss involve 3 non-tanks soaking both Obliterate hits with each tank. You will need to use Cloak of Shadows on this, and will be one of the best classes to help soak this.
For more information, please refer to our Guardian of the First Ones guide.
Fatescribe Roh-Kalo
Cloak of Shadows can be used to soak Fate Fragments during the Intermissions. You can also safely remove Call of Eternity without triggering the explosion or spawning any of the follow-up effects like Echo of Eternity or the Mythic-only mechanic Fate Fragment.
Mythic Difficulty: If you get hit by Exposed Threads of Fate you can remove the debuff by using Cloak of Shadows.
For more information, please refer to our Fatescribe Roh-Kalo guide.
Kel'Thuzad
Cloak of Shadows can be used to remove the Sinister Miasma and Frozen Destruction debuffs.
Mythic Difficulty: There are no specific mechanics you can avoid that are exclusive to the Mythic version of this fight. You will want to hold onto Cloak of Shadows to remove the Sinister Miasma debuff inside the Phylactery to allow your healer to focus their healing on other players instead.
For more information, please refer to our Kel'Thuzad guide.
Sylvanas Windrunner
Cloak of Shadows does immune the damage of Veil of Darkness but the debuff will still apply to you, so it is not recommended to use it for higher uptime in Phases 1 or 3.
Cloak of Shadows can be used in Phase 2 for higher uptime to avoid damage from Haunting Wave.
Feint should be used to mitigate damage from Wailing Arrow.
While Sylvanas takes 99% less damage during most of Phase 2, you can still hit her with ranged attacks to build Combo Points and maintain Alacrity.
Using Sprint and Cloak of Shadows can be used to quickly gather up pools of Banshee's Bane and drop them in a corner of the platform.
Mythic Difficulty: If any of the Sentinel Adds in Phase 1 are getting too close to you while fixating on you, you can use Evasion to avoid taking damage as long as you face them. This allows you to AoE all Sentinels without having to worry about potentially getting hit.
As Cloak of Shadows makes you immune to picking up new stacks of Banshee's Bane, Rogues are one of the best classes to take care of the important Merciless soaks in Phase 3 that overlap with other abilities or are positioned inside pools of Banshee's Bane.
For more information, please refer to our Sylvanas Windrunner guide.
