General Information

On this page, we go over several of the most frequently asked questions regarding Augmentation Evoker in World of Warcraft — The War Within (11.0.5). This will be updated as more common repeated questions surface over the course of the expansion.

1.

When should I play Scalecommander over Chronowarden?

We recommend playing Scalecommander over Chronowarden in most scenarios. Chronowarden may perform better if your allies are performing exceptionally (>95% parses on Warcraft Logs) or you do not have many 90 second classes in the raid. At the end of the day, the difference is minimal for raiding and you can play whatever you find more enjoyable.

2.

How Much Mastery should I have?

As much as possible after getting enough haste to make your rotation feel comfortable. Although as a Chronowarden with Double-time Icon Double-time Critical Strike Chance is approximately equal to mastery.

3.

When should I use Breath of Eons?

You want to make sure you are getting as many Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons uses in a given combat period, but also use it when your allies have DPS cooldowns.

As a Chronowarden you want to ignore the slight cooldown reduction that Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons gets which means we cannot suggest using it on cooldown instead we suggest using Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons as a two-minute cooldown, as the majority of specializations have 2-minute cooldowns. See our Buffs Page for more information on other specialisations.

As a Scalecommander we suggest using this basically on cooldown. It is still more optimal to time it to your other DPSs cooldowns. On single target this ends up being approximately a 90 second cooldown. See our Buffs Page for more information on other specialisations.

4.

Does Augmentation work with Details/Warcraft Logs?

Augmentation does not currently work with details, and Blizzard's current stance appears to be that they want it to be like this as they want a the distinction between the ingame experience and the out-of-game experience. Details has a mode where it tries to estimate the damage dealt by Augmentation Evokers but it is extremely inaccurate and we recommend you use logs instead.

Augmentation does work with Warcraft Logs as Blizzard has been implementing combat hooks, so damage gained from your support effects will be reattributed back to you.

The combat hooks implementation is not perfect and potentially inaccurate for some events. If you find notable errors in the attribution math, make sure to report it to Blizzard!

5.

How should I move and DPS?

With Evoker, you have multiple options.

  1. Hover is most preferable as this will allow you to cast whilst moving after the short animation. This can be used as a DPS gain if you Hover Weave (more details below).
  2. Finally you have Azure Strike.
6.

What is Hover Weaving?

Hover Icon Hover is not on the GCD, so you can cast a spell while you are on the GCD from another spell. An example of this is when you need to move from a mechanic, and you want to keep doing DPS instead of just using Hover Icon Hover you can cast Azure Strike Icon Azure Strike, and during the GCD of this spell, you use Hover Icon Hover and can then cast more impactful spells on the move as the animation lockout from Hover Icon Hover is shorter than the GCD.

7.

Is Augmentation Evoker a good Power Infusion target?

No! Power Infusion Icon Power Infusion is better used on one of the DPS players you are buffing.

8.

How often does Essence regenerate?

1 Essence every 5 seconds. The regeneration rate is increased by talents and Haste.
