Best in Slot Gear Guide for Augmentation Evoker

Welcome to our Gearing Page for Augmentation Evoker for The War Within Season 1. This section will cover everything you need to know about equipping your character correctly. Please see the sections below for information on the best gear, including Trinkets and Crafted Items.

If you have a new piece of gear for which you need gems and enchant advice, you can find everything on our dedicated page below.

1.1.

Comparing potential upgrades

With Best in Slot lists being a static sheet of what is potentially best, what is best for you will vary with every piece of gear you obtain due to the value of the stats constantly shifting as you obtain item level. You can work out what items are upgrades for your character by simming. Please see the page on simming your own character for more information:

An item that is not strictly ideal in an ideal fully-kitted-out gear set may be a massive upgrade for you right now (high item level gains on pieces, weapon upgrades, etc). Likewise, an item that is in an ideal gearset may very well be a loss for you right now, either because of an item level difference or because you need other items from a BiS list to have it be BiS itself.

Best Cyrce's Circlet Gems for Augmentation Evoker

Cyrce's Circlet is a new special ring introduced in Patch 11.0.7. You can obtain this ring by doing open world activities on Siren Isle. The ring has 3 different colour sockets (Thunder, Sea, and Wind) that can be filled with special gems obtained on the island.

There are four different gems available for each of the three socket types, for a total of 12 gems with each type offering a damage option: a stats option; a healing option; and a miscellaneous option. The Thunder Damage and Healing gems are Single Target, the Sea Damage and Healing gems are 3 target, and the Wind Damage and Healing gems are 5 target.

Currently this ring is quite powerful and is a decent increase for Augmentation. This ring is approximately a 1.8% DPS increase over a 639 Myth ring. We strongly suggest simming your character to see if they are an upgrade for you, especially while the ring is not max item level. The best gem setups are shown below:

Gems for Raiding Gems for Mythic+ and Open World
3.1.

Best Cyrce's Circlet Gems for Raiding

For Raid, you will want to play Thunderlord's Crackling Citrine Icon Thunderlord's Crackling Citrine, Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine Icon Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine and Legendary Skipper's Citrine Icon Legendary Skipper's Citrine. Here are brief explanations on why these gems are chosen:

  • We suggest using Thunderlord's Crackling Citrine Icon Thunderlord's Crackling Citrine as this is the single target focused gem. The other relevant alternative is Stormbringer's Runed Citrine Icon Stormbringer's Runed Citrine which provides split stats, granting versatility, which devalues the effect. We do not suggest using Roaring War-Queen's Citrine Icon Roaring War-Queen's Citrine due to the interaction with Legendary Skipper's Citrine Icon Legendary Skipper's Citrine and your allies proccing Roaring War-Queen's Citrine Icon Roaring War-Queen's Citrine with it. If you were to use Roaring War-Queen's Citrine Icon Roaring War-Queen's Citrine you would miss out on a fairly significant number of free procs from their gems.
  • We suggest using Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine Icon Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine because it both provides us Mastery which is a good stat as well as increasing the effect of all our other gems. Running Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine Icon Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine makes investing in Mastery stronger so it ends up being the 2nd most important stat after Haste. The only other damaging option would be Undersea Overseer's Citrine Icon Undersea Overseer's Citrine which does low ST damage as it is tuned around dealing damage to 3 Targets.
  • We suggest using Legendary Skipper's Citrine Icon Legendary Skipper's Citrine because there are only four outcomes that are suboptimal (Three healing gems and Seabed Leviathan's Citrine Icon Seabed Leviathan's Citrine). Every other effect when triggered at 150% is better than Windsinger's Runed Citrine Icon Windsinger's Runed Citrine on average which is the only real alternative on ST. Furthermore this can proc Roaring War-Queen's Citrine Icon Roaring War-Queen's Citrine which is incredibly valuable making Legendary Skipper's Citrine Icon Legendary Skipper's Citrine approximately ~1.5-1.6% dps ahead of Windsinger's Runed Citrine Icon Windsinger's Runed Citrine. We do not suggest using Squall Sailor's Citrine Icon Squall Sailor's Citrine as the single target damage it does is very low as it is tuned around dealing dealing damage to 5 targets.
3.1.

Best Cyrce's Circlet Gems for Mythic+ and Open World

For Mythic+ and Open World Content, you will want to play Thunderlord's Crackling Citrine Icon Thunderlord's Crackling Citrine, Undersea Overseer's Citrine Icon Undersea Overseer's Citrine and Legendary Skipper's Citrine Icon Legendary Skipper's Citrine although the gems are a lot closer and there is some options to change how you specialise, detailed below:

  • We suggest using Thunderlord's Crackling Citrine Icon Thunderlord's Crackling Citrine as the single target damage provided by this is relatively significant and single target still makes up a large portion of the Key. Another viable option is to play Stormbringer's Runed Citrine Icon Stormbringer's Runed Citrine which provides split stats. These are approximately equal in damage favouring Thunderlord's Crackling Citrine Icon Thunderlord's Crackling Citrine by approximately 0.1% so either works. If you were to use Roaring War-Queen's Citrine Icon Roaring War-Queen's Citrine you would miss out on a fairly significant number of free procs from their gems although it can be worth running in hyper optimised environments as it is a very very slight group DPS increase for Augmentation to run it assuming everyone else has BiS gems already. It is not a DPS increase to run more than 1 Roaring War-Queen's Citrine Icon Roaring War-Queen's Citrine in a group currently. The next best person to use Roaring War-Queen's Citrine Icon Roaring War-Queen's Citrine is the healer.
  • We suggest using Undersea Overseer's Citrine Icon Undersea Overseer's Citrine because the damage proc is the most effective. You are almost always fighting 3 targets or more and get max effect and it still does good damage on ST despite being tuned around 3T, being barely behind Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine Icon Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine there. Overall this is approximately 0.2% DPS ahead of Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine Icon Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine and so you can pick based on personal preference. If you use Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine Icon Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine the value of Mastery is increased making your best stats Haste/Mastery.
  • We suggest using Legendary Skipper's Citrine Icon Legendary Skipper's Citrine because there are only four outcomes that are suboptimal (Three healing gems and Seabed Leviathan's Citrine Icon Seabed Leviathan's Citrine) and even these are quite valuable in Mythic+ as they can help keep you or your group alive. Every other effect when triggered at 150% is better than or equal to Windsinger's Runed Citrine Icon Windsinger's Runed Citrine or Squall Sailor's Citrine Icon Squall Sailor's Citrine on average. Furthermore this can proc Roaring War-Queen's Citrine Icon Roaring War-Queen's Citrine which is incredibly valuable making Legendary Skipper's Citrine Icon Legendary Skipper's Citrine ~0.8%-1% ahead of Squall Sailor's Citrine Icon Squall Sailor's Citrine on average and approximately ~1.5-1.6% ahead of Windsinger's Runed Citrine Icon Windsinger's Runed Citrine.

For more information on how to get the ring, as well as acquiring all of the different gems that you can possibly socket into it, check out our Cyrce's Circlet guide below!

Embellishment Recommendations for Augmentation Evoker

Embellishments are additional item effects present on profession gear, either as a baseline or added as an optional reagent when crafting. These grant a free, additional effect to the piece.

You may only have two embellishments active at a time.

Best Crafted Items for Raiding for Augmentation Evoker

This section is focused on the best crafts in a Raiding environment. These rankings tend to prefer more consistent effects that specialize in single-target damage. If your main focus is not raid progression use the Mythic+ list above as it does not lose much ST.

  1. Craft Vagabond's Bounding Baton Icon Vagabond's Bounding Baton with Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension. This weapon will not be the Best-in-Slot but it will be the biggest gain you can get early on in the Season. If you already have a strong Hero track or Myth track weapon, you can skip this step. Elemental Focusing Lens Icon Elemental Focusing Lens on the weapon would be slightly more ST but the raid has significant multi-target so we suggest Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension instead.
  2. Craft Binding of Binding Icon Binding of Binding. This is our best Embellished Item and will be used in all content.
  3. Craft Glyph-Etched Binding Icon Glyph-Etched Binding with Elemental Focusing Lens Icon Elemental Focusing Lens. This is the 2nd highest ST embellishment we can craft. Recraft your weapon and unembellish it if you are still using it at this point.
  4. After you have your Embellished items, you should prioritize upgrading gear pieces using your crests. If you have enough spare crests to craft an item then we suggest crafting whatever is the biggest upgrade for you according to your sims.

Note: Instead of creating Elemental Focusing Lens Icon Elemental Focusing Lens on your belt you can opt for Writhing Armor Banding Icon Writhing Armor Banding if you are still using the weapon with Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension and want better AOE damage. If you do not have Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension then Writhing Armor Banding Icon Writhing Armor Banding does not do anything and you should consider Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining instead.

Note: Binding of Binding Icon Binding of Binding is valued assuming it has NOT been bound to another player and is targeting randomly. However it does assume that the majority of people have 4 types of gems in their gear. This does perform slightly worse if people run less on average but it still remains the best Embellishment by a large margin. This will perform slightly better if it is bound to a non Augmentation DPS if the option is available but it is not required.
This does not reattribute damage back to you for the stats granted to the other players.

In Raiding content our best embellishment is Binding of Binding Icon Binding of Binding, followed by Elemental Focusing Lens Icon Elemental Focusing Lens (Pure ST only) then Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension and Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip. As both Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension and Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip require a weapon or an offhand to craft they end up falling out of our BiS list since we value the item level on those slots more than the slightly better embellishment effect.

6.

Best Crafted Items for Mythic+ for Augmentation Evoker

This section is focused on the best crafts in a Mythic+ environment. These rankings are aimed at maximizing overall damage inside of Mythic+.

  1. Craft Vagabond's Bounding Baton Icon Vagabond's Bounding Baton with Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip. This weapon will not be the Best-in-Slot but it will be the biggest gain you can get early on in the Season. If you already have a strong Hero track or Myth track weapon, you can skip this step.
  2. Craft Binding of Binding Icon Binding of Binding. This is our best Embellished Item and will be used in all content.
  3. Craft Glyph-Etched Binding Icon Glyph-Etched Binding with Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining. If you still have an embellished weapon then do not craft this with an embellishment. Recraft the Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining on after you replace the crafted weapon with a Myth track weapon.
  4. After you have your Embellished items, you should prioritize upgrading gear pieces using your crests. If you have enough spare crests to craft an item then we suggest crafting whatever is the biggest upgrade for you according to your sims.

Note: We craft Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip on the weapon because Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension works poorly in Mythic+ because it loses the buff when you leave combat and this is the best all around embellishment available.

Note: Instead of creating Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining on your belt you can opt for Duskthread Lining Icon Duskthread Lining instead. This is less DPS because Augmentation Evoker does not like Versatility but it provides slight increased survivability in Mythic+.

In Mythic+ content our best embellishment is Binding of Binding Icon Binding of Binding, followed by Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip then Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining. As Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip requires a weapon or an offhand to craft it ends up falling out of our BiS list since we value the item level on those slots more than the slightly better embellishment effect.

6.

Embellishment Items Explained for Augmentation Evoker

Below, you will find detailed information about the various crafted items as an Augmentation Evoker.

5.1.

Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension

The Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension is a weapon-only embellish item that progressively stacks up secondary stats the longer you are in combat. Each time you gain a stack, it picks a random secondary stat and sets the buff to that.

The buff for Ascension is capped at 10 stacks, meaning it takes 80 seconds to fully stack the buff. After it is fully stacked, each time it is refreshed, it will still continue to cycle through secondaries at random.

If you leave combat for long enough to miss a stack trigger the buff is then guaranteed to fall off requiring you to ramp it back up over 80 seconds. For this reason we do not recommend this in Mythic+ because there is always downtime between packs which is usually long enough to make this drop.

Typically, we want to craft a weapon early on in the Season for the large boost in item level in our highest budget slot, and this makes for a great embellishment for that item as it provides very good ST and AOE damage in a raiding environment. If you plan to primarily play Mythic+ then we do not suggest crafting this and instead suggest Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip because of the problems mentioned above.

Finally, as this requires a Weapon or Offhand to be crafted it falls out of our BiS list as we prefer higher item level in these slots over the slightly better embellishment.

5.2.

Binding of Binding Icon Binding of Binding

This ring is the best Embellishment for Augmentation Evoker even without pairing it to another ally. We do not suggest pairing it to another ally early on as this can be expensive to change around since it costs a blasphemite to do so and the ring is still valuable without.

Currently, if you have no one in your group bound from you, the ring will randomly proc on anyone in your group, even if they do not have the ring.

This ring also requires that allies have 5 total sockets before you start getting max value out of the ring. This is because the secondaries granted to the allies scale based on the color of the gems (the main stat granted) they have in their gear. As all DPS will want to use a Primary Stat Meta gem, this makes five sockets before it is at full effect. You can acquire up to 6 sockets by using Magnificent Jeweler's Setting Icon Magnificent Jeweler's Setting but this may not be common early on due to the cost of the Jewelers Settings.

5.3.

Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip

We use Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip in place of Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension as it has no downsides unlike Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension but it is not the best at any one thing, instead acting as a compromise choice thats average for everything. It provides on average a similar amount of stats to Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining with 60% uptime.

5.4.

Writhing Armor Banding Icon Writhing Armor Banding

The Writhing Armor Banding Icon Writhing Armor Banding is a unique embellishment that actually does nothing by itself. To get it do anything, you need to pair it with a Nerubian embellished item. For Augmentation this would be Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension. When paired with Ascension, it doubles the effect (the amount of stats gained, not the rate at which stats are gained).

This is effectively the same as using Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension on a 1-handed weapon and an off-hand weapon. The difference here is that Writhing Armor Banding Icon Writhing Armor Banding can be placed on most normal gear items, like Glyph-Etched Vambraces Icon Glyph-Etched Vambraces. This is important so that we can prioritize a top item level Myth track weapon in our main-hand and lose much fewer stats by putting this on a slot like Wrists, Feet, or Waist.

5.5.

Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining and Duskthread Lining Icon Duskthread Lining

Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining and Duskthread Lining Icon Duskthread Lining are both only obtainable on armour pieces and thus cannot be selected on Weapons, Offhands, or Jewelery.

Augmentation Evoker does not scale well with Versatility and so would rather use Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining over Duskthread Lining Icon Duskthread Lining but players opting to push keys may decide to use Duskthread Lining Icon Duskthread Lining for the half a percent damage reduction (from the versatility) they provide each to large AoE hits at the cost of a small amount of damage.

5.6.

Vambraces of Deepening Darkness Icon Vambraces of Deepening Darkness

This embellishment is not very good. The effect does a similar amount of damage to Elemental Focusing Lens Icon Elemental Focusing Lens but has to go on your wrist slot. This also has a downside of slowing you and having Versatility statted which makes the overall DPS gain from using this low. We do not recommend using this Embellishment.

5.7.

Embrace of the Cinderbee

We do not recommend using this set as it is not very strong numerically and has poor gameplay associated with the set. The orbs spawned by the set require you to manually walk into and pick up which can be difficult to do during a hectic fight making this even less enticing to run.

5.8.

Sanctified Torchbearer's Grips Icon Sanctified Torchbearer's Grips

We do not recommend using this item as the damage provided by the effect is very small and it forces us to use our worst tier piece Horns of the Destroyer Icon Horns of the Destroyer as this is in a tier slot.

Raiding Mythic+ Trinkets Explained
6.1.

Top Trinkets for Raiding

This Trinket Tier List is single-target biased, as this tends to be the most important aspect of Raiding. When Trinkets are equal on single-target, I will "break the tie" by looking into which Trinket performs better in AoE/mixed scenarios.

All trinkets are assumed to be 639 unless a lower item level is specified for the sake of comparison. The idea is to compare trinkets at their maximum obtainable item level to give you an idea of where things are placed. For more accurate information on how trinkets perform relative to each other for your own character, please sim your character.

A "Tier" as defined by this list is around 0.5% DPS, meaning that S-Tier Trinkets are around 0.5% better than A-Tier Trinkets, and so on.

NOTE: To keep things brief, not every Trinket is listed below, only ones that are particularly relevant or popular. If a trinket is excluded from this list, it is likely well below D-Tier.

Top Trinkets for Mythic+

Inside Mythic+ dungeons, you typically want to use trinkets that are good for maximizing overall dungeon damage. This is not always just slamming full AoE trinkets, as Bosses will still take up a significant portion of the key.

A "Tier" as defined by this list is around 0.5% DPS, meaning that S-Tier Trinkets are around 0.5% better than A-Tier Trinkets, and so on.

Trinkets Explained

The following section will go over specific notes on the various trinkets to consider as an Augmentation Evoker. Not every Trinket is listed, only ones that have interactions worth discussing.

6.3.1.

Spymaster's Web Icon Spymaster's Web

Spymaster's Web Icon Spymaster's Web is both a passive trinket and an on-use intellect trinket and is the most versatile Trinket available in Season 1. Currently it is ideal to sit on the Trinket for as long as possible, pressing the Trinket every 4 minutes at maximum stacks with your Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons, but you can use it earlier if there was an important damage event earlier or sit on it for longer if there is one to come without losing any damage due to its flexibility.

6.3.2.

Mad Queen's Mandate Icon Mad Queen's Mandate

Mad Queen's Mandate Icon Mad Queen's Mandate is an on-use damage trinket that deals very high damage. This Trinket's damage scales with the enemy's health and has a half cooldown if this kills the target, which lets you get more uses of it in Mythic+, which compensates for the fact that it is pure Single Target. Augmentation Evoker scales poorly with stats in general, so it likes high-budget damage trinkets like this.

Despite being one of the best trinkets this may not sim the highest for everyone on all kill timers, especially when paired with Spymaster's Web Icon Spymaster's Web. Both of these trinkets are on-use trinkets which can cause one to be desynced. On kill timers that are multiples of 2 minutes but are shorter than XX:30 then you risk losing a use of one of the trinkets eating into the dps provided. On the other hand, the burst damage provided by this trinket is significantly better on fights with damage amplifiers like Silken Court or Ingra Maloch from Mists of Tirna Scithe.

6.3.3.

Treacherous Transmitter Icon Treacherous Transmitter

Treacherous Transmitter Icon Treacherous Transmitter an on-use trinket that makes you complete one of three tasks to get the increased primary stat. The challenges are one of:

  • Collect purple orb that spawns near you
  • Jump 3 times
  • Stand on purple disc to charge it for a few seconds

This Trinket is currently budgeted around the 90-second cooldown, but Augmentation Evoker uses it every 2 minutes, which makes it weaker than other options such as Spymaster's Web Icon Spymaster's Web. Despite this it is still one of the better trinkets you can get. This is more powerful as a Scalecommander because we use Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons more frequently but it is still worse than Spymaster's Web Icon Spymaster's Web.

6.3.4.

Mereldar's Toll Icon Mereldar's Toll

Mereldar's Toll Icon Mereldar's Toll is a 90-second on-use trinket that deals a small amount of damage and grants the next 5 allies to hit the target Versatility. This buff will not be factored into your own damage, but the overall budgeting of this Trinket is high enough that this is a top-performing trinket for Augmentation Evoker, despite being used as a 2-minute cooldown. This is more powerful as a Scalecommander because we use Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons more frequently.

6.3.5.

Shadow-Binding Ritual Knife Icon Shadow-Binding Ritual Knife

Shadow-Binding Ritual Knife Icon Shadow-Binding Ritual Knife is a trinket you can acquire from delves. If this Trinket is obtained at a high item level, it will last you a long time because it provides a large amount of intellect as well as being Mastery passively, which is ideal for Augmentation Evoker. The downside procs infrequently and is not very impactful for Augmentation because of its weak stats.

6.3.6.

Aberrant Spellforge Icon Aberrant Spellforge

Aberrant Spellforge Icon Aberrant Spellforge is a ramping damage trinket that performs better the longer an encounter lasts for. Augmentation Evoker favours damage proc trinkets due to its poor stat scaling, so this performs well on Augmentation compared to other trinkets, even on medium-length fights.

6.3.7.

Unbound Changeling Icon Unbound Changeling

Unbound Changeling Icon Unbound Changeling lets you choose between Haste, Crit, or Mastery for the stat proc of the Trinket. This changes every time you eat food and generally matches the stat on that particular food buff.

You also have a chance to get a special All stat buff that gives you Haste, Crit, and Mastery. This can randomly happen when eating food but can only happen once per day. This gives the same amount of stats as a single proc, just distributed across all 3 secondaries. As an Augmentation Evoker, you do not want this and would prefer to have Mastery or Crit.

If you are finding that eating food is never changing the buff, make sure you do not have an older version of the Trinket in your bank, as this can bug out the script.

6.3.8.

Ovi'nax's Mercurial Egg Icon Ovi'nax's Mercurial Egg

Ovi'nax's Mercurial Egg Icon Ovi'nax's Mercurial Egg changes stats depending on whether you are moving or standing still. Standing still shifts the buff towards Primary Stats, which is what Augmentation Evoker wants.

7.

Augmentation Evoker Tier Sets

The Tier Set is comprised of 5 items unique DPS bonuses are unlocked when wearing 2 and 4 pieces from the set:

  • Evoker Augmentation Season 1 2pc Icon Evoker Augmentation Season 1 2pc — Upheaval deals 30% increased damage and increases the damage of your next 2 eruption casts by 30%.
  • Evoker Augmentation Season 1 4pc Icon Evoker Augmentation Season 1 4pcEbon Might Icon Ebon Might increases primary stats by an additional 0.4% of your own every 2 seconds it remains active, up to 2%. This bonus will reset whenever you recast Ebon Might Icon Ebon Might.

The Tier Set Bonus is absolutely mandatory for competitive play, and you should prioritize obtaining it. You can use the Matrix Catalyst to convert regular items (from Mythic+, for example) into Tier Items.

You only need 4 pieces out of 5 to get both set bonuses. We recommend you get all items except for the Head, due to their High Versatility. Check out the BiS List for more information.

Valorstone Upgrades

For more information on the Gear Upgrades system, check out our dedicated page for it below.

As with Valor, the cost to upgrade scales differs per slot but now also increases quickly as item levels go up.

Enchants and Sockets

Once you have obtained a piece of gear containing a prismatic socket or needing to be enchanted, you will need to know how to modify it. Details about these tweaks can be found on our dedicated gems, enchants, and consumables page.
