Augmentation Evoker DPS Gear and Best in Slot — The War Within (11.1.0)
On this page, you will find the best gear and best in slot items for your Augmentation Evoker in World of Warcraft The War Within (11.1.0).
Best in Slot Gear Guide for Augmentation Evoker
Welcome to our Gearing Page for Augmentation Evoker for The War Within Season 2. This section will cover everything you need to know about equipping your character correctly. Please see the sections below for information on the best gear, including Trinkets and Crafted Items.
If you have a new piece of gear for which you need gems and enchant advice, you can find everything on our dedicated page below.
Comparing potential upgrades
With Best in Slot lists being a static sheet of what is potentially best, what is best for you will vary with every piece of gear you obtain due to the value of the stats constantly shifting as you obtain item level. You can work out what items are upgrades for your character by simming. Please see the page on simming your own character for more information:
An item that is not strictly ideal in an ideal fully-kitted-out gear set may be a massive upgrade for you right now (high item level gains on pieces, weapon upgrades, etc). Likewise, an item that is in an ideal gearset may very well be a loss for you right now, either because of an item level difference or because you need other items from a BiS list to have it be BiS itself.

Embellishment Recommendations for Augmentation Evoker
Embellishments are additional item effects present on profession gear, either as a baseline or added as an optional reagent when crafting. These grant a free, additional effect to the piece.
You may only have two embellishments active at a time.
Best Crafted Items for Augmentation Evoker
Best Crafted Items for Raiding for Augmentation Evoker
This section is focused on the best crafts in a Raiding environment. These rankings tend to prefer more consistent effects that specialize in single-target damage. If your main focus is not raid progression use the Mythic+ list above as it does not lose much ST.
- Craft
Vagabond's Bounding Baton with
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension. This weapon will not be the Best-in-Slot but it will be the biggest gain you can get early on in the Season. If you already have a strong Hero track or Myth track weapon, you can skip this step.
Elemental Focusing Lens on the weapon would be slightly more ST but the raid has significant multi-target so we suggest
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension instead.
- Craft
Binding of Binding. This is our best Embellished Item and will be used in all content.
- Craft
Glyph-Etched Binding with
Elemental Focusing Lens. This is the 2nd highest ST embellishment we can craft. Recraft your weapon and unembellish it if you are still using it at this point.
- After you have your Embellished items, you should prioritize upgrading gear pieces using your crests. If you have enough spare crests to craft an item then we suggest crafting whatever is the biggest upgrade for you according to your sims.
Note: Instead of creating Elemental Focusing Lens on your belt
you can opt for
Writhing Armor Banding if you are still using the
weapon with
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension and want better AOE damage. If you
do not have
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension then
Writhing Armor Banding
does not do anything and you should consider
Dawnthread Lining
instead.
Note: Binding of Binding is valued assuming it
has NOT been bound to another player and is targeting randomly. However
it does assume that the majority of people have 4 types of gems in their gear.
This does perform slightly worse if people run less on average but it still
remains the best Embellishment by a large margin. This will perform slightly
better if it is bound to a non Augmentation DPS if the option is available but
it is not required.
This does not reattribute damage back to you for the stats granted to the other
players.
In Raiding content our best embellishment is
Binding of Binding, followed by
Elemental Focusing Lens (Pure ST only) then
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension and
Blessed Weapon Grip. As both
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension and
Blessed Weapon Grip require a
weapon or an offhand to craft they end up falling out of our BiS list since we
value the item level on those slots more than the slightly better
embellishment effect.
Best Crafted Items for Mythic+ for Augmentation Evoker
This section is focused on the best crafts in a Mythic+ environment. These rankings are aimed at maximizing overall damage inside of Mythic+.
- Craft
Vagabond's Bounding Baton with
Blessed Weapon Grip. This weapon will not be the Best-in-Slot but it will be the biggest gain you can get early on in the Season. If you already have a strong Hero track or Myth track weapon, you can skip this step.
- Craft
Binding of Binding. This is our best Embellished Item and will be used in all content.
- Craft
Glyph-Etched Binding with
Dawnthread Lining. If you still have an embellished weapon then do not craft this with an embellishment. Recraft the
Dawnthread Lining on after you replace the crafted weapon with a Myth track weapon.
- After you have your Embellished items, you should prioritize upgrading gear pieces using your crests. If you have enough spare crests to craft an item then we suggest crafting whatever is the biggest upgrade for you according to your sims.
Note: We craft Blessed Weapon Grip on the weapon because
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension works poorly in Mythic+ because it loses
the buff when you leave combat and this is the best all around embellishment
available.
Note: Instead of creating Dawnthread Lining on your belt
you can opt for
Duskthread Lining instead. This is less DPS
because Augmentation Evoker does not like Versatility but it provides slight
increased survivability in Mythic+.

In Mythic+ content our best embellishment is

Blessed Weapon Grip requires a weapon or an offhand to craft it
ends up falling out of our BiS list since we value the item level on those slots
more than the slightly better embellishment effect.
Embellishment Items Explained for Augmentation Evoker
Below, you will find detailed information about the various crafted items as an Augmentation Evoker.
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension
The Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension is a weapon-only embellish item
that progressively stacks up secondary stats the longer you are in combat.
Each time you gain a stack, it picks a random secondary stat and sets the buff
to that.
The buff for Ascension is capped at 10 stacks, meaning it takes 80 seconds to fully stack the buff. After it is fully stacked, each time it is refreshed, it will still continue to cycle through secondaries at random.
If you leave combat for long enough to miss a stack trigger the buff is then guaranteed to fall off requiring you to ramp it back up over 80 seconds. For this reason we do not recommend this in Mythic+ because there is always downtime between packs which is usually long enough to make this drop.
Typically, we want to craft a weapon early on in the Season for the large
boost in item level in our highest budget slot, and this makes for a great
embellishment for that item as it provides very good ST and AOE damage in
a raiding environment. If you plan to primarily play Mythic+ then we do
not suggest crafting this and instead suggest Blessed Weapon Grip
because of the problems mentioned above.
Finally, as this requires a Weapon or Offhand to be crafted it falls out of our BiS list as we prefer higher item level in these slots over the slightly better embellishment.
Binding of Binding
This ring is the best Embellishment for Augmentation Evoker even without pairing it to another ally. We do not suggest pairing it to another ally early on as this can be expensive to change around since it costs a blasphemite to do so and the ring is still valuable without.
Currently, if you have no one in your group bound from you, the ring will randomly proc on anyone in your group, even if they do not have the ring.
This ring also requires that allies have 5 total sockets before
you start getting max value out of the ring. This is because the
secondaries granted to the allies scale based on the color of the gems (the main
stat granted) they have in their gear. As all DPS will want to use a Primary
Stat Meta gem, this makes five sockets before it is at full effect. You can
acquire up to 6 sockets by using Magnificent Jeweler's Setting but this
may not be common early on due to the cost of the Jewelers Settings.
Blessed Weapon Grip
We use Blessed Weapon Grip in place of
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension
as it has no downsides unlike
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension but it is not
the best at any one thing, instead acting as a compromise choice thats average
for everything. It provides on average a similar amount of stats to
Dawnthread Lining with 60% uptime.
Writhing Armor Banding
The Writhing Armor Banding is a unique embellishment that actually
does nothing by itself. To get it do anything, you need to pair it
with a Nerubian embellished item. For Augmentation this would be
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension. When paired with Ascension, it doubles
the effect (the amount of stats gained, not the rate at which stats are
gained).
This is effectively the same as using Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension on
a 1-handed weapon and an off-hand weapon. The difference here is that
Writhing Armor Banding can be placed on most normal gear items,
like
Glyph-Etched Vambraces. This is important so that we can prioritize a
top item level Myth track weapon in our main-hand and lose much fewer stats by
putting this on a slot like Wrists, Feet, or Waist.
Dawnthread Lining and
Duskthread Lining
Dawnthread Lining and
Duskthread Lining are both only
obtainable on armour pieces and thus cannot be selected on Weapons,
Offhands, or Jewelery.
Augmentation Evoker does not scale well with Versatility and so would
rather use Dawnthread Lining over
Duskthread Lining but players
opting to push keys may decide to use
Duskthread Lining for the half a
percent damage reduction (from the versatility) they provide each to large AoE
hits at the cost of a small amount of damage.
Vambraces of Deepening Darkness
This embellishment is not very good. The effect does a similar amount of
damage to Elemental Focusing Lens but has to go on your wrist slot.
This also has a downside of slowing you and having Versatility statted
which makes the overall DPS gain from using this low. We do not recommend using
this Embellishment.
Embrace of the Cinderbee
We do not recommend using this set as it is not very strong numerically and has poor gameplay associated with the set. The orbs spawned by the set require you to manually walk into and pick up which can be difficult to do during a hectic fight making this even less enticing to run.
Sanctified Torchbearer's Grips
We do not recommend using this item as the damage provided by the effect is
very small and it forces us to use our worst tier piece
Horns of the Destroyer as this is in a tier slot.
Best Trinkets for Augmentation Evoker in The War Within
Top Trinkets for Augmentation Evoker
Top Trinkets for Raiding
This Trinket Tier List is single-target biased, as this tends to be the most important aspect of Raiding. When Trinkets are equal on single-target, I will "break the tie" by looking into which Trinket performs better in AoE/mixed scenarios.
All trinkets are assumed to be 678 unless a lower item level is specified for the sake of comparison. The idea is to compare trinkets at their maximum obtainable item level to give you an idea of where things are placed. For more accurate information on how trinkets perform relative to each other for your own character, please sim your character.
A "Tier" as defined by this list is around 0.5% DPS, meaning that S-Tier Trinkets are around 0.5% better than A-Tier Trinkets, and so on.
NOTE: To keep things brief, not every Trinket is listed below, only ones that are particularly relevant or popular. If a trinket is excluded from this list, it is likely well below D-Tier.

Top Trinkets for Mythic+
Inside Mythic+ dungeons, you typically want to use trinkets that are good for maximizing overall dungeon damage. This is not always just slamming full AoE trinkets, as Bosses will still take up a significant portion of the key.

Trinkets Explained
The following section will go over specific notes on the various trinkets to consider as an Augmentation Evoker. Not every Trinket is listed, only ones that have interactions worth discussing.
Eye of Kezan
This trinket is quite powerful, particularly in sustained Raid encounters for the stacking benefit you get from long fights. On progression this will be a highly desirable trinket that should do well even in some farm encounters.
The biggest downside with Eye of Kezan is the way the stack depreciates
quickly outside of combat. Once you leave combat you will start losing stacks
and will be totally drained no later than 20 seconds after. This means that
getting optimal usage of this trinket in Mythic+ will be quite tricky and
very punishing with downtime between packs.
For this reason in Mythic+ you might have a better time using a different trinket unless your group is comfortable chain pulling around the trinket.
Synergistic Brewterializer
Is a passive trinket that spawns a barrel that you can attack. This barrel
cannot be hit by any AoE damage and must be killed with a Single Target spell.
Augmentation can kill this for free with no DPS loss by using
Living Flame alongside
Pupil of Alexstrasza making it quite
powerful as you also get the extra chance for an
Essence Burst. The only
downside to this trinket is that it can be hard to keep track of during hectic
fights or large AoE pulls where there are a lot of nameplates on screen.
Mug's Moxie Jug
This is one of the most consistently good trinkets you can get in Season 2, being viable in all forms of content. While Augmentation Evoker is not actively stacking Critical Strike, the scaling of this trinket in particular is very strong, and since we are never close to diminishing Critical Strike stat we always get max benefit from this trinket.
House of Cards
Another on-use trinket that barely falls below Signet of the Priory
for most players. This trinket is tuned around being used every 90 seconds and
depending on the classes you have to buff may end up being used every 2 minutes
making it worse.
Spymaster's Web
Spymaster's Web is both a passive trinket and an on-use intellect
trinket and is the most versatile Trinket available in Season 1. Currently it
is ideal to sit on the Trinket for as long as possible, pressing the Trinket
every 4 minutes at maximum stacks with your
Breath of Eons, but you can
use it earlier if there was an important damage event earlier or sit on it for
longer if there is one to come without losing any damage due to its flexibility.
Best Cyrce's Circlet Gems for Augmentation Evoker
Cyrce's Circlet was a ring added in Patch 11.0.7
that will continue to be Best-In-Slot throughout Season 2 due to its
power level. This ring is acquired by completing activities in the Siren Isle and has
3 gem sockets to augment your power. Each socket has its own unique type and each type has
4 gems that can be obtained, for a total of 12 possible gems to socket.
When you initially acquire the ring it will be 639 item level. By completing activities on the Isle you will get items to upgrade it eventually all the way up to 658 item level.
- Thunder:
Roaring War-Queen's Citrine (As long as 3 other people are using the ring)
Thunderlord's Crackling Citrine (Pure ST)
Stormbringer's Runed Citrine
- Sea:
Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine
- Wind:
Windsinger's Runed Citrine
Ring Setup (Hover the ring to see the gems) | Notes | Power |
---|---|---|

Needs 4 other people with the ring equipped for full effect. | Approximately 4% stronger than a Myth 678 Ring. |

- | Approximately equal to a 675 Crafted Ring. |
For more information on how to get the ring, as well as acquiring all of the
different gems that you can possibly socket into it, check out our

Augmentation Evoker Tier Sets
The Tier Set is comprised of 5 items unique DPS bonuses are unlocked when wearing 2 and 4 pieces from the set:
Evoker Augmentation 11.1 Class Set 2pc
Evoker Augmentation 11.1 Class Set 4pc
The Tier Set Bonus is absolutely mandatory for competitive play, and you should prioritize obtaining it. You can use the Matrix Catalyst to convert regular items (from Mythic+, for example) into Tier Items.
You only need 4 pieces out of 5 to get both set bonuses. We recommend you get all items except for the Hands, due to their Versatility. Check out the BiS List for more information.
Tier Set Power Level
Single Target
- 2-piece set bonus: ~5.8%
- 2-piece and 4-piece set bonus: ~8.8%
AOE

Valorstone Upgrades
For more information on the Gear Upgrades system, check out our dedicated page for it below.
As with Valor, the cost to upgrade scales differs per slot but now also increases quickly as item levels go up.
Enchants and Sockets
Once you have obtained a piece of gear containing a prismatic socket or needing to be enchanted, you will need to know how to modify it. Details about these tweaks can be found on our dedicated gems, enchants, and consumables page.
