Best in Slot Gear Guide for Augmentation Evoker

Welcome to our Gearing Page for Augmentation Evoker for The War Within Season 3. This section will cover everything you need to know about equipping your character correctly. Please see the sections below for information on the best gear, including Trinkets and Crafted Items.

If you have a new piece of gear for which you need gems and enchant advice, you can find everything on our dedicated page below.

1.1.

Comparing potential upgrades

With Best in Slot lists being a static sheet of what is potentially best, what is best for you will vary with every piece of gear you obtain due to the value of the stats constantly shifting as you obtain item level. You can work out what items are upgrades for your character by simming. Please see the page on simming your own character for more information:

An item that is not strictly ideal in an ideal fully-kitted-out gear set may be a massive upgrade for you right now (high item level gains on pieces, weapon upgrades, etc). Likewise, an item that is in an ideal gearset may very well be a loss for you right now, either because of an item level difference or because you need other items from a BiS list to have it be BiS itself.

Augmentation Evoker has very lopsided stat priorities, which makes some items significantly better than others. Overall BiS Trinket Options

Augmentation Evokers four Best Trinkets in Season 3 are currently quite close. You can either choose to use both passive trinkets or select one on use trinket and a passive trinket. These trinkets are:

At best using one of the on use trinkets is approximately 0.3-0.4% stronger than double passive trinket in their optimal conditions. Opting for double passive for easier gameplay is completely fine, especially if you are unsure whether it is correct to use an on use trinket.

For Scalecommander we recommend using two passive trinkets in most situations but Araz's Ritual Forge Icon Araz's Ritual Forge is especially potent in Mythic+ where it will align better with your Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons.

As a Chronowarden the selection of your on use trinket depends on what classes you are buffing. If you are buffing 90s DPS primarily then Lily of the Eternal Weave Icon Lily of the Eternal Weave is very powerful. If you are focusing on 2 minute DPS then we would suggest using Araz's Ritual Forge Icon Araz's Ritual Forge and if you have a mixture or are not sure then we suggest using both passive trinkets.

3.

Reshii Wraps

Reshii Wraps Icon Reshii Wraps is a new Artifact Cloak obtainable within Season 3. This Cloak can be upgraded to 730 ilvl over the course of the season and will be the only available Cloak.

The Cloak only has a single secondary stat that is determined by which Fiber you socket into the Cloak. We suggest socketing in a Pure Energizing Fiber Icon Pure Energizing Fiber (Mastery Epic Fiber) for Chronowarden or Pure Precise Fiber Icon Pure Precise Fiber (Crit Epic Fiber) for Scalecommander. If you intend to swap between Hero Talents regularly we suggest using the Crit fiber as it is the best on average for both Hero Talents. Early on you should use a Energizing Fiber Icon Energizing Fiber (Mastery Rare Fiber) or Precise Fiber Icon Precise Fiber (Crit Rare Fiber) instead.

The cloak provides role specific bonuses which as a DPS this provides a small damage proc that deals approximately 2.5%-3.5% of your damage (depending on if you have the boots or not).

The new Manaforge Omega Raid has two items that interact with your Reshii Wraps Icon Reshii Wraps: Interloper's Chain Boots Icon Interloper's Chain Boots which drop from Adarus Duskblaze and Band of the Shattered Soul Icon Band of the Shattered Soul from Dimensius The All Devouring. The effect from Interloper's Chain Boots Icon Interloper's Chain Boots is worth dropping item level for and Hero boots can be better than Myth track regular boots. We do not have Band of the Shattered Soul Icon Band of the Shattered Soul in our BiS list for Chronowarden as it is not optimal for damage but as Scalecommander the stats are very good. Even if the Ring sims as a DPS loss for you it could be worth equipping it if you would like slightly better survivability but the increased absorb from the ring does not do that much.

For more information on obtaining the new Reshii Wraps Icon Reshii Wraps check out the post below.

4.

Augmentation Evoker Tier Sets

Tier Sets are comprised of 5 items that unlock unique DPS effects for your character when you wear 2 or 4 pieces from the Set. You do not get any special bonus from wearing all five pieces of the set.

Having a Tier Set Bonus is absolutely mandatory for competitive play, and you should prioritize obtaining it. You can use the Matrix Catalyst to convert regular items (from Mythic+, for example) into Tier Items.

Chronowarden Season 3 Tier Set

The Season 3 Chronowarden Tier Set Bonuses are:

  • Evoker Chronowarden 11.2 Class Set 2pc Icon Evoker Chronowarden 11.2 Class Set 2pc
  • Evoker Chronowarden 11.2 Class Set 4pc Icon Evoker Chronowarden 11.2 Class Set 4pc
4.1.

Gameplay Changes

The 2pc opens up Time Skip Icon Time Skip gameplay for Chronowarden giving you Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons at 0s, 90s, 180s, 300s with the cycle repeating after that (390s, 480s, 600s).

The 4pc generates a significant amount of Essence Burst Icon Essence Burst during the Temporal Burst Icon Temporal Burst buff by adding additional cleave targets for Living Flame Icon Living Flame. If there are not enough enemies for the Living Flames to target then they will seek out an ally instead.

On multi-target scenarios during Temporal Burst Icon Temporal Burst Chrono Flame Icon Chrono Flame is worth using over Eruption Icon Eruption unless you have an Essence Burst Icon Essence Burst up and the talent Ignition Rush Icon Ignition Rush — this can be thought of as ignoring Essence during Temporal Burst Icon Temporal Burst.

4.2.

Tier Set Power Level

  • 2-piece set bonus: ~10.2%
  • 2-piece and 4-piece set bonus: ~18.9%
5.

Scalecommander Season 3 Tier Set

The Season 3 Scalecommander Tier Set Bonuses are:

  • Evoker Scalecommander 11.2 Class Set 2pc Icon Evoker Scalecommander 11.2 Class Set 2pc
  • Evoker Scalecommander 11.2 Class Set 4pc Icon Evoker Scalecommander 11.2 Class Set 4pc
4.3.

Gameplay Changes

The Scalecommander 2pc makes it optimal to stay in Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons slightly longer until the Commando's summoned by the 2pc have cast 4 Pyres. This takes approximately 1.5-2s for each of them to do so which is slightly longer than the minimum time before you can cancel Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons. Gameplay is otherwise identical outside of this.

4.4.

Tier Set Power Level

4.4.1.

Single Target

  • 2-piece set bonus: ~11%
  • 2-piece and 4-piece set bonus: ~16%
  • 2-piece and Season 2's 2-piece bonus: ~17.2% (Factors in DPS loss from having 684 Tier instead of 723 Tier)
4.4.2.

AoE

  • 2-piece set bonus: ~15.5%
  • 2-piece and 4-piece set bonus: ~19%
  • 2-piece and Season 2's 2-piece bonus: ~25.6% (Factors in DPS loss from having 684 Tier instead of 723 Tier)

This Tier Set is also significantly stronger on AoE because the Pyres launched by the Commandos are fully uncapped and scale with your Ebon Might Icon Ebon Might and Class Aura. When dealing significant AoE damage (such as in Mythic+) your Stat Priority will shift more in favour of Critical Strike Chance and a small amount of Versatility.

Currently playing 2pc-2pc with the Season 2 Tier Set is a significant DPS increase for AoE (5.5%) and a small gain for ST (0.5%-1%). Playing 2pc-2pc will be a very strong option especially until you get full Myth Tier.

As you are no longer able to acquire Season 2's Tier Set at 684 ilvl you will be at a permanent disadvantage playing Scalecommander if you do not already have 684 Season 2 Tier until Blizzard adjusts the power of the Scalecommander set, especially boosting its AOE performance.

5.

Season 2 Tier Set

The Season 2 Tier Set Bonuses are:

  • Evoker Augmentation 11.1 Class Set 2pc Icon Evoker Augmentation 11.1 Class Set 2pc
  • Evoker Augmentation 11.1 Class Set 4pc Icon Evoker Augmentation 11.1 Class Set 4pc
4.5.

Gameplay Changes

The Season 2 Augmentation Tier Set does not alter Gameplay or Rotation from what is already optimal.

4.6.

Tier Set Power Level

4.6.1.

Single Target

  • 2-piece set bonus: ~5.8%
  • 2-piece and 4-piece set bonus: ~8.8%
4.6.2.

AOE

  • 2-piece set bonus: ~6.9%
  • 2-piece and 4-piece set bonus: ~9.0%

Raiding Mythic+ Trinkets Explained
5.1.

Top Trinkets for Raiding

This Trinket Tier List is single-target biased, as this tends to be the most important aspect of Raiding. When Trinkets are equal on single-target, I will "break the tie" by looking into which Trinket performs better in AoE/mixed scenarios.

All trinkets are assumed to be 723 unless a lower item level is specified for the sake of comparison. The idea is to compare trinkets at their maximum obtainable item level to give you an idea of where things are placed. We do not suggest using two on use trinkets even if the trinkets are ranked higher than passive trinkets on this list. For more accurate information on how trinkets perform relative to each other for your own character, please sim your character.

A "Tier" as defined by this list is around 0.5% DPS, meaning that S-Tier Trinkets are around 0.5% better than A-Tier Trinkets, and so on.

NOTE: To keep things brief, not every Trinket is listed below, only ones that are particularly relevant or popular. If a trinket is excluded from this list, it is likely well below D-Tier.

Top Trinkets for Mythic+

Inside Mythic+ dungeons, you typically want to use trinkets that are good for maximizing overall dungeon damage. This is not always just slamming full AoE trinkets, as Bosses will still take up a significant portion of the key.

The idea is to compare trinkets at their maximum obtainable item level to give you an idea of where things are placed. Trinkets Explained

The following section will go over specific notes on the various trinkets to consider as an Augmentation Evoker. Not every Trinket is listed, only ones that have interactions worth discussing.

5.3.1.

Araz's Ritual Forge Icon Araz's Ritual Forge

This is a 2 minute active on use trinket that provides a collosal amount of Primary Stat that decays over 30 seconds. This trinket is best when paired alongside powerful 2 minute cooldowns but is still exceptional even if not used exactly every 2 minutes. In raid setups you can use this alongside DPS 2-minute CDs even if Breath of Eons Icon Breath of Eons is not up.

5.3.2.

Lily of the Eternal Weave Icon Lily of the Eternal Weave

This trinket has a 90 second cooldown and provides Mastery during the on use period. This trinket is a strong on use for any mastery builds that are running Motes of Possibility Icon Motes of Possibility. This is especially potent in groups that have strong 90s burst windows.

5.3.3.

Diamantine Voidcore Icon Diamantine Voidcore

This trinket is a passive trinket that procs Primary Stat. During the trinket procs the weapon cantrip from the raid weapons like Voidglass Kris Icon Voidglass Kris are empowered. Without having a Mythic weapon this trinket is significantly weaker.

5.3.4.

Void-Touched Fragment Icon Void-Touched Fragment

This trinket rapidly gains stacks in combat and then gives you a large amount of Mastery when reaching 15 stacks. This happens every approximately 90 seconds normally but will happen more often enemies die (to anyone in your party/raid) as that grants stacks of the trinket. Outside of combat the buff will not tick down making this significantly stronger in Mythic+.

6.

Embellishment Recommendations for Augmentation Evoker

Embellishments are additional item effects present on profession gear, either as a baseline or added as an optional reagent when crafting. These grant a free, additional effect to the piece.

You may only have two embellishments active at a time.

Best Crafted Items for Augmentation Evoker

8.

Best Crafted Items for Raiding for Augmentation Evoker

This section is focused on the best crafts in a Raiding environment. These rankings tend to prefer more consistent effects that specialize in single-target damage. If your main focus is not raid progression use the Mythic+ list above as it does not lose much ST.

  1. Craft Vagabond's Bounding Baton Icon Vagabond's Bounding Baton with Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension. This weapon will not be the Best-in-Slot but it will be the biggest gain you can get early on in the Season. If you already have a strong Hero track or Myth track weapon, you can skip this step. Elemental Focusing Lens Icon Elemental Focusing Lens on the weapon would be slightly more ST but the raid has significant multi-target so we suggest Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension instead.
If you are going to kill Soulbinder Naazindhri on Mythic within the first three weeks it may be worth crafting a different slot instead of Weapon as a Mythic Voidglass Spire Icon Voidglass Spire is effectively Best-in-Slot with very little difference between it and Voidglass Kris Icon Voidglass Kris.
  2. Craft either Glyph-Etched Binding Icon Glyph-Etched Binding or Glyph-Etched Vambraces Icon Glyph-Etched Vambraces depending on which ever slot is a bigger upgrade. If you are using Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension then use Writhing Armor Banding Icon Writhing Armor Banding instead of Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining.
  3. You can optionally craft Binding of Binding Icon Binding of Binding instead of an embellished item if you have bad rings as it is a powerful effect on Augmentation Evoker.
  4. After you have your Embellished items, you should prioritize upgrading gear pieces using your crests. If you have enough spare crests to craft an item then we suggest crafting whatever is the biggest upgrade for you according to your sims.

Note: Binding of Binding Icon Binding of Binding is valued assuming it has NOT been bound to another player and is targeting randomly. However it does assume that the majority of people have 4 types of gems in their gear. This does perform slightly worse if people run less on average but it still remains the best Embellishment by a large margin. This will perform slightly better if it is bound to a non Augmentation DPS if the option is available but it is not required.
This does not reattribute damage back to you for the stats granted to the other players.

8.

Best Crafted Items for Mythic+ for Augmentation Evoker

This section is focused on the best crafts in a Mythic+ environment. These rankings are aimed at maximizing overall damage inside of Mythic+.

  1. Craft Vagabond's Bounding Baton Icon Vagabond's Bounding Baton with Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip.
  2. Craft either Consecrated Cloak Icon Consecrated Cloak or Glyph-Etched Vambraces Icon Glyph-Etched Vambraces depending on which ever slot is a bigger upgrade.

Note: We craft Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip on the weapon because Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension works poorly in Mythic+ because it loses the buff when you leave combat and this is the best all around embellishment available.

Note: Instead of creating Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining on your belt you can opt for Duskthread Lining Icon Duskthread Lining instead. This is less DPS because Augmentation Evoker does not like Versatility but it provides slight increased survivability in Mythic+.

In Mythic+ content our best embellishment is Binding of Binding Icon Binding of Binding, followed by Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip then Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining. As Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip requires a weapon or an offhand to craft it ends up falling out of our BiS list since we value the item level on those slots more than the slightly better embellishment effect.

8.

Embellishment Items Explained for Augmentation Evoker

Below, you will find detailed information about the various crafted items as an Augmentation Evoker.

7.1.

Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension

The Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension is a weapon-only embellish item that progressively stacks up secondary stats the longer you are in combat. Each time you gain a stack, it picks a random secondary stat and sets the buff to that.

The buff for Ascension is capped at 10 stacks, meaning it takes 80 seconds to fully stack the buff. After it is fully stacked, each time it is refreshed, it will still continue to cycle through secondaries at random.

If you leave combat for long enough to miss a stack trigger the buff is then guaranteed to fall off requiring you to ramp it back up over 80 seconds. For this reason we do not recommend this in Mythic+ because there is always downtime between packs which is usually long enough to make this drop.

Typically, we want to craft a weapon early on in the Season for the large boost in item level in our highest budget slot, and this makes for a great embellishment for that item as it provides very good ST and AOE damage in a raiding environment. If you plan to primarily play Mythic+ then we do not suggest crafting this and instead suggest Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip because of the problems mentioned above.

Finally, as this requires a Weapon or Offhand to be crafted it falls out of our BiS list as we prefer higher item level in these slots over the slightly better embellishment.

7.2.

Binding of Binding Icon Binding of Binding

This ring is the best Embellishment for Augmentation Evoker even without pairing it to another ally. We do not suggest pairing it to another ally early on as this can be expensive to change around since it costs a blasphemite to do so and the ring is still valuable without.

Currently, if you have no one in your group bound from you, the ring will randomly proc on anyone in your group, even if they do not have the ring.

This ring also requires that allies have 5 total sockets before you start getting max value out of the ring. This is because the secondaries granted to the allies scale based on the color of the gems (the main stat granted) they have in their gear. As all DPS will want to use a Primary Stat Meta gem, this makes five sockets before it is at full effect. You can acquire up to 6 sockets by using Magnificent Jeweler's Setting Icon Magnificent Jeweler's Setting but this may not be common early on due to the cost of the Jewelers Settings.

7.3.

Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip

We use Blessed Weapon Grip Icon Blessed Weapon Grip in place of Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension as it has no downsides unlike Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension but it is not the best at any one thing, instead acting as a compromise choice that is average for everything. It provides on average a similar amount of stats to Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining with 60% uptime.

7.4.

Writhing Armor Banding Icon Writhing Armor Banding

The Writhing Armor Banding Icon Writhing Armor Banding is a unique embellishment that actually does nothing by itself. To get it do anything, you need to pair it with a Nerubian embellished item. For Augmentation this would be Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension. When paired with Ascension, it doubles the effect (the amount of stats gained, not the rate at which stats are gained).

This is effectively the same as using Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension on a 1-handed weapon and an off-hand weapon. The difference here is that Writhing Armor Banding Icon Writhing Armor Banding can be placed on most normal gear items, like Glyph-Etched Vambraces Icon Glyph-Etched Vambraces. This is important so that we can prioritize a top item level Myth track weapon in our main-hand and lose much fewer stats by putting this on a slot like Wrists, Feet, or Waist.

7.5.

Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining and Duskthread Lining Icon Duskthread Lining

Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining and Duskthread Lining Icon Duskthread Lining are both only obtainable on armour pieces and thus cannot be selected on Weapons, Offhands, or Jewelery.

Augmentation Evoker does not scale well with Versatility and so would rather use Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining over Duskthread Lining Icon Duskthread Lining but players opting to push keys may decide to use Duskthread Lining Icon Duskthread Lining for the half a percent damage reduction (from the versatility) they provide each to large AoE hits at the cost of a small amount of damage.

7.6.

Vambraces of Deepening Darkness Icon Vambraces of Deepening Darkness

This embellishment is not very good. The effect does a similar amount of damage to Elemental Focusing Lens Icon Elemental Focusing Lens but has to go on your wrist slot. This also has a downside of slowing you and having Versatility statted which makes the overall DPS gain from using this low. We do not recommend using this Embellishment.

7.7.

Embrace of the Cinderbee

We do not recommend using this set as it is not very strong numerically and has poor gameplay associated with the set. The orbs spawned by the set require you to manually walk into and pick up which can be difficult to do during a hectic fight making this even less enticing to run.

7.8.

Sanctified Torchbearer's Grips Icon Sanctified Torchbearer's Grips

We do not recommend using this item as the damage provided by the effect is very small.

8.

Durable Information Securing Container

You can acquire Durable Information Securing Container Icon Durable Information Securing Container with Static Charge Icon Static Charge or Critical Chain Icon Critical Chain from Delves. To obtain this belt you will need to explore Delves and and complete a short questline. The belt comes with a socket by default and lets you select a Titan Disc for a unique effect. Most of these effects are currently fairly lackluster and generic but swapped freely as long as you are out of combat.

The belt can be upgraded by completing weekly quests up until it reaches Item Level 701.

The belt is approximately equivalent to a 717 (4/6 Myth) belt and therefore will not get replaced until near the end of your gearing progression when you have spare crests to upgrade a Myth belt fully.

We currently suggest using these DISCs:

  • We currently suggest using Static Charge Icon Static Charge or Critical Chain Icon Critical Chain in all content. Whichever is better will depend on your current gear so we suggest simming the options.

For more information on how to acquire or upgrade the belt, make sure to check out our dedicated Delves guide!

9.

Valorstone Upgrades

For more information on the Gear Upgrades system, check out our dedicated page for it below.

As with Valor, the cost to upgrade scales differs per slot but now also increases quickly as item levels go up.

9.1.

Enchants and Sockets

Once you have obtained a piece of gear containing a prismatic socket or needing to be enchanted, you will need to know how to modify it. Details about these tweaks can be found on our dedicated gems, enchants, and consumables page.
