Best Gems for Blood Death Knight in MoP Remix
The overwhelming majority of your character's strength in MoP Remix comes from the gems you slot into all of the slots in your gear. You will be able to equip a Meta gem, a Cogwheel gem granting you a unique utility ability, along with up to 12 Tinker gems, and all of these grant unique effects.
On this page, we will list the strongest available options and explain the synergy behind some of them. We'll also highlight traps and pitfalls, as a number of gems provide zero value to Blood Death Knights specifically.
To learn more about Gems in MoP Remix, in general, check out our dedicated page below.
- Meta Gem: Thundering Orb / Precipice of Madness (with Arcanist's Edge equipped and in a party or raid) / Chi-ji, the Red Crane (Open-world content only)
- Cogwheel Gem: Heroic Leap
- Prismatic Gems:
You will have a tremendous amount of stats as you start unlocking all Gem slots, and there is no single best stat to stack. Generally speaking, you should aim to not avoid any stat in particular unless you do not have Arcanist's Edge, at which point you should avoid Mastery outright while still aiming not to push a single stat past any Diminishing Returns.
- Tinker Gems:
- Memory of Vengeance
- Arcanist's Edge
- Fervor
- Slay
- Windweaver
- Brittle (Dungeons or fights with adds)
- Sunstrider's Flourish (Dungeons or fights with adds)
- Explosive Barrage
- Lightning Rod
- Incendiary Terror
- Quick Strike
- Wildfire (Dungeons or fights with adds)
- Meteor Storm
The following gems should be avoided as they do not provide any value whatsoever to Blood Death Knight:
Meta Gems
- Tireless Spirit: Does not remove all resource costs, removes Runic power gains from a number of abilities and does not remove charge costs on charge-based abilities
Tinker Gems
- Deliverance: Death Strike healing is not counted
- Savior: you have no way to heal allies
- Searing Light: Death Strike healing is not counted
- Vindication: Lackluster
- Righteous Frenzy: you have no way to heal allies
- Brilliance: Only affects Mana/Rage/Energy and has no effect on Runes or Runic Power

Leveling Rotation for Blood Death Knight
- Use Death and Decay where you intend to fight; your goal is to keep both you and your enemies in it for as long as possible. Cast it on cooldown, but do not overlap them!
- Use Abomination Limb when it is available. You can strafe left or right to trigger bonus grips and bonus Bone Shield from Bone Collector by doing so.
- Use Dancing Rune Weapon on cooldown. You should aim to be below 5 Bone Shield charges when you cast this, but it is better just to send it.
- Use Tombstone when you have at least 6 Bone Shield charges, you are within your own Death and Decay and Dancing Rune Weapon still is on cooldown.
- Use Consumption on cooldown.
- Use Tombstone when you have at least 10 Bone Shield charges, you are within your own Death and Decay and Dancing Rune Weapon still is on cooldown. These Bone Shield charges will be refunded to you throughout the next 10 seconds, so don't panic!
- Use Marrowrend (or Death's Caress if you are out of melee range) if your Bone Shield is about to expire.
- Use Death Strike if your health is low or if you are above 75 Runic Power.
- Use Blood Boil if any nearby enemies do not have your Blood Plague disease, or you are close to having 2 charges of Blood Boil.
- Use Marrowrend if you have 6 or fewer stacks of Bone Shield.
- Use Heart Strike if you have 2 or more Runes.
- Use Blood Boil.
