Blood Death Knight Tank Castle Nathria Raid Guide — Dragonflight 10.2.5
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Blood Death Knight for each boss of the following raid: Castle Nathria. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Dragonflight 10.2.5.
Introduction
During the Dragonflight Pre-Patch, Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones will be simultaneously featured as Fated Raids. During this time encounters within each specific raid will include an additional mechanic and items will drop at increased item levels. If you would like to learn more general information about the Fated Raids system as a whole, please see our overview below. Otherwise, continue to use this page for specialization-specific tips.
In this section, you will find information pertaining to each boss individually in Castle Nathria.
A note on Level 50 talents: The recommendations will show either Purgatory or Red Thirst for all bosses. Purgatory will be used when learning the encounter and the tank damage patterns. Once you are comfortable with those, Red Thirst will yield better results.

Shriekwing
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Shriekwing.
- Superstrain
- Unity
Recommended Covenant: Kyrian, Night Fae or Necrolord
Tips
- Swap after each cast of Exsanguinating Bite.
- Exsanguinating Bite will apply 10 stacks of the Exsanguinated bleed which reduces healing received by 10%, and increases Physical damage taken by 5% per stack. You will lose 1 stack of this debuff every 1.5 seconds.
- Ensure you are on full or high health before Exsanguinating Bite. If necessary it can be wise to cast Death Strike before to have an absorb shield from your Mastery.
- If you are a Kyrian, you can remove Exsanguinated with Phial of Serenity.
- Avoid being hit by the sonar orbs created by the boss. If you are hit by any of these it will trigger Descent.
- Mythic: You will not be able to see any of the Sonar orbs from the boss and will need to gain stacks of Bloodlight from The Blood Lantern to see them.
For more information, please refer to our Shriekwing guide.
Huntsman Altimor
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Huntsman Altimor.
- Superstrain
- Unity
Recommended Covenant: Kyrian, Night Fae or Necrolord
Tips
- Swap on 2-3 stacks of Jagged Claws bleed from Margore. If you are a Kyrian you can use Phial of Serenity to remove this bleed should it be required
- If you are tanking Bargast, drag him away before Rip Soul and Shades of Bargast.
- Ensure you have a high amount of health and Anti-Magic Shell so that the add from Rip Soul spawns on high health (If you are full health it will spawn on 90% health).
- Hecutis will apply the Crushing Stone buff to himself after every swing (even if you parry it).
- Crushing Stone can be removed by moving Hecutis. One stack will be removed at a time, however it will deal raid wide damage.
For more information, please refer to our Huntsman Altimor guide.
Sun King's Salvation
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Sun King's Salvation.
- Superstrain
- Unity
Recommended Covenant: Kyrian, Night Fae or Necrolord
Tips
- Phase 1: Swap on 2 stacks of Vanquished. If you are a Kyrian you can use Phial of Serenity to remove these stacks should it be required.
- Keep threat on the adds spawning in this phase.
- Help interrupt Vulgar Brand from the Vile Occultists.
- Utilise Death Grip Gorefiend's Grasp, and Chains of Ice on the Soul Infuser adds to prevent them from reaching Kael'thas.
- Phase 2: Swap on 2-3 stacks of Burning Remnants.
- When you are not tanking the Shade do not be in front of the boss.
For more information, please refer to our Sun King's Salvation guide.
Artificer Xy'Mox
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Artificer Xy'Mox.
- Superstrain
- Unity
Recommended Covenant: Kyrian, Night Fae or Necrolord
Tips
- Pay attention to where Dimensional Tear are being placed by members in your raid. You will need to use these to cover a large distance to detonate Glyph of Destruction away from the raid should you not have any other mobility tools available such as Wraith Walk, Soulshape or Door of Shadows.
- The above movement tools should also be used to help the raid move Seeds of Extinction in Phase 2.
- in Phase 3, Edge of Annihilation is the main mechanic from the boss. You will need to use your movement abilities to avoid being in the centre of the room when this detonates.
For more information, please refer to our Artificer Xy'Mox guide.
Hungering Destroyer
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Hungering Destroyer.
- Superstrain
- Unity
Recommended Covenant: Kyrian, Night Fae or Necrolord
Tips
- Each melee swing buffs the boss with a stack of Growing Hunger, which increases the amount of health the boss will leech from the tank. The buffs reset when the boss hits a new target. Keep stacks low.
- If there are any Gluttonous Miasma in melee, help soak these to make best use of spare Death Strikes whilst not actively tanking.
- Ensure you are on high health for Overwhelm. Otherwise make use a personal cooldowns or an external cooldown.
- Drag the boss to the edge of the room for Consume at 100 energy to give the raid more space to move.
- Heroic/Mythic: Death's Advance will negate the knockback from soaking Obliterating Rift.
For more information, please refer to our Hungering Destroyer guide.
Lady Inerva Darkvein
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Lady Inerva Darkvein.
- Superstrain
- Unity
Recommended Covenant: Kyrian, Night Fae or Necrolord
Tips
- Mark of Blood is very strong on this encounter as the swing speed from the boss is 1 second and she dual-wields, meaning that you will provide a very large amount of healing for very minimal work.
- Swap on 2 stacks of Expose Desires.
- Container of Desires 33% Energy and above: Shared Cognition is active/ Damage taken from Expose Desires will be replicated to other players.
- Container of Desires 66% Energy and above: Use your mobility cooldowns such as Wraith Walk, Soulshape or Door of Shadows to help get to away from the raid for Change of Heart. Alternatively, you can use Anti-Magic Shell before it has applied to negate the mechanic.
- The tank who is not actively tanking the boss should tank the Harnessed Specter add when it spawns. Once it spawns it is immobile. This add will cast Unconscionable Guilt which increases the damage of Warped Desires.
- Container of Concentrated Anima 33% Energy and above: Rooted in Anima is applied to the players with Concentrated Anima. Ideally the raid should be pre-positioned on the boss, however should this not be the case, the non-boss tank will need to move to the location of the Harnessed Specter as soon as possible.
- Container of Sin 33% Energy and above: Anima Web will link the 3 Sins of the Past orbs together. Aim to have the boss near the side of the room at all times to not get caught in the middle of this.
For more information, please refer to our Lady Inerva Darkvein guide.
The Council of Blood
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against The Council of Blood.
- Superstrain
- Unity
Recommended Covenant: Kyrian, Night Fae or Necrolord
Tips
- Help interrupt Dreadbolt Volley when you are tanking Baroness Frieda.
- When you are tanking Lord Stavros, ensure YOU are facing the wall (or away from others) so when he casts Evasive Lunge he will teleport behind you and charge to the wall and not hit others.
- Swap on 2 stacks of Evasive Lunge or Duelist's Riposte.
- If you kill Lord Stavros last, you may use abilities such as Wraith Walk, Soulshape or Door of Shadows to get fewer stacks of Two Left Feet. Alternatively, Death's Advance can be used to ignore the slow mechanic whilst it is active.
For more information, please refer to our The Council of Blood guide.
Sludgefist
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Sludgefist.
- Superstrain
- Unity
Recommended Covenant: Kyrian, Night Fae or Necrolord
Tips
- Make sure to stand on your co-tank for Giant Fists.
- Run out of Destructive Stomp.
- Aim the boss towards a pillar for Hateful Gaze.
- When the boss reaches 30% health, he will buff himself with Gruesome Rage.
For more information, please refer to our Sludgefist guide.
Stone Legion Generals
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Stone Legion Generals.
- Superstrain
- Unity
Recommended Covenant: Kyrian, Night Fae or Necrolord
Tips
- Utilise the Stone Breaker's Combo to remove bleeds gained throughout the encounter.
- The stun from Stone Breaker's Combo can be negated with Anti-Magic Shell you can also break free from the stun with Icebound Fortitude.
- Stone Breaker's Combo is cast on random raid members and never the tank. If they are not near the boss, go to them if you need to clear your debuffs.
- There should strictly be one tank on the boss and one on adds during Phase 1 and 2. In Phase 3, both bosses will be active and you will take one boss each.
- When your tanking partner is clearing their bleeds in Phase 3 have defensive cooldowns ready as you will likely be tanking both bosses for a short period of time.
For more information, please refer to our Stone Legion Generals guide.
Sire Denathrius
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Sire Denathrius.
- Superstrain
- Unity
Recommended Covenant: Kyrian, Night Fae or Necrolord
Tips
- Phase 1: Swap after each cast of Cleansing Pain.
- Intermission: You can pre-cast Death's Advance as the intermission begins to avoid the slow from March of the Penitent.
- Phase 2: There will be two active bosses. Each tank will have a boss each. Swap on 4-6 stacks of Carnage. If you are a Kyrian you can remove these stacks with Phial of Serenity should it be required.
- Point Sire Dentharius towards the Crimson Cabalists when he casts Wracking Pain as this will apply the damage taken debuff on them too.
- Ensure you tank near a mirror so you can move away from Hand of Destruction quickly.
- Phase 3: There is only one boss in this phase. Swap on each cast of Shattering Pain or 4-6 stacks of Scorn. Movement cooldowns will be required to get away from Hand of Destruction as you can no longer use the mirrors.
- Mythic: Sire Denathrius on Mythic hits very hard. It is highly recommended to have Splintered Heart of Al'ar as it is very likely you will trigger it.
- Mythic - Phase 3: During this phase you will be inside the mirror. Therefore all mechanics will be reversed in how they move you. Blood Price and Shattering Pain will pull you through the boss. Also, both Command: Ravage and Command: Massacre happen at the same time.
For more information, please refer to our Sire Denathrius guide.
