Blood Death Knight Tank Ny'alotha Raid Guide — Dragonflight 10.2.5
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Blood Death Knight for each boss of the following raid: Ny'alotha. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Dragonflight 10.2.5.
Introduction for Blood Death Knight Boss Advice in Ny'alotha
In this section, you will find information pertaining to each boss individually in Ny'alotha.
This advice is extremely preliminary in nature — this guide will be updated regularly over the next few weeks as bosses are experienced in their live state.
The essence choices in this guide are with general play in mind. If you are progressing on a boss, I would recommend swapping the Major essence to Touch of the Everlasting for its cheat death effect. It will be invaluable to have an extra cheat death whilst you are learning the damage patterns for yourself.

Wrathion, the Black Emperor
We advise you to use the following essences against Wrathion, the Black Emperor.

- Minor Slots
- Conflict and Strife — Rank 3: Strife
- Nullification Dynamo — Rank 3: Null Barrier
- The Formless Void — Rank 3: Symbiotic Presence
Tips
- While you are not actively tanking, do not stand in front of Wrathion, as he will cast Searing Breath, or behind Wrathion, as he will cast Tail Swipe.
- You will want to conduct a tank swap on two stacks of Searing Breath. Plan to use Anti-Magic Shell on the 2nd hit.
- Heroic:During Phase 2, you will want to help the raid with gripping the adds together for efficient DPS on top of the shards.
- Mythic:You are immune to gaining Creeping Madness stacks whilst Anti-Magic Shell is active.

- When Maut casts Stygian Annihilation, ensure you are stood within a Devoured Abyss zone to avoid the damage.
- During Phase 2, aim to soak the Mana Orbs from the edges of the room as soon as possible, as the further they travel, the more damage the raid will take.
- Mythic:If you are add-tanking, utilise the Devoured Abyss zones to remove your Ancient Curse. If you are boss-tanking, request a dispel from a Mage/Shaman/Druid.

- Minor Slots
- Conflict and Strife — Rank 3: Strife
- Nullification Dynamo — Rank 3: Null Barrier

Tips
- Your role in the encounter is to help the DPS be more efficient with their cleave and AoE by bringing priority targets together with Death Grip and Gorefiend's Grasp
- When the Aqir Darters are active, you will need to kill them one at a time. Utilise Death Grip to bring them on top of the boss.
- If the Aqir Darter is about to complete its cast, use Asphyxiate to stun it.
- In the Drone waves where Ka'zir's Hivemind Control is active, there will be a Volatile Drone which is immobile and will need to be cleaved from, so you will use Gorefiend's Grasp to bring all the Drones together for cleave.
- Heroic:In the Drone waves where Tek'ris's Hivemind Control is active, there will be a Ravager which will need to be cleaved from, so you will use Gorefiend's Grasp to bring all the Drones together for cleave.

- Minor Slots
- Conflict and Strife — Rank 3: Strife
- Nullification Dynamo — Rank 3: Null Barrier

Tips
- You should aim to be the "off-tank" for this encounter, as you have two taunts with Dark Command and Death Grip. You can ensure that your co-tank starts on the boss and, if the first cast is Dissolve, you can taunt and still have another taunt available if a second dissolve occurs in the Dissolve/Crush/Dissolve combination.
- Anti-Magic Shell can be used whenever you have Dissolve on you, as it will always get full value.
- In Phase 1 + 2, the boss should be tanked centrally to allow the raid to spread.
- In Phase 3, the boss will be tanked on the edge and you move as/when necessary based on the raid situation.
For more information, please refer to our Shad'har the Insatiable guide.
Drest'agath

- Minor Slots
- Conflict and Strife — Rank 3: Strife
- Nullification Dynamo — Rank 3: Null Barrier
- The Formless Void — Rank 3: Symbiotic Presence
Tips
- Wraith Walk is a must have on this encounter, as there will be frequent periods of large movement to place Volatile Seed on Tentacles which are far away to debuff them (60% increased damage taken!).
- There must always be a tank in range of the boss.
- Do not tank if you have just run out with Volatile Seed, as you will have Volatile Vulnerability.
For more information, please refer to our Drest'agath guide.
Il'gynoth, Corruption Reborn
We advise you to use the following essences against Il'gynoth, Corruption Reborn.

- Nullification Dynamo — Rank 3: Null Barrier
- The Formless Void — Rank 3: Symbiotic Presence
Tips
- You will be swapping on two stacks of Eye of N'Zoth. The second of these will deal a lot of damage. Consider rotating defensive cooldowns for these.
- As the fight goes on, more and more adds will spawn. Gorefiend's Grasp can be very useful here to grip them all together to make DPS more efficient.
- Mythic: Anti-Magic Shell can be used to negate the debuff from Cursed Blood (should your strategy require this).

- Conflict and Strife — Rank 3: Strife
- Nullification Dynamo — Rank 3: Null Barrier
- The Formless Void — Rank 3: Symbiotic Presence
Tips
- Ensure you are full health for when Despair is about to expire, as any missing health will deal that amount of damage to the raid from Shattered Resolve. You can get a lot of Hemostasis stacks from the adds on this encounter to empower your Death Strike. Alternatively, you can use Vampiric Blood.
- You can negate gaining stacks of Void Corruption from Twilight Breath with Anti-Magic Shell.
- Priority adds can be Death Grip onto the boss for more efficient DPS. Likewise, you can group the adds on the boss with Gorefiend's Grasp.

- If you are not tanking the boss, the Essence which empowered the boss will have an add spawning from the portal it came from. Be ready to pick it up.
- In Phase 1, when Ra-den reaches 100 Energy, he will cast Nullifying Strike. his will reduce your maximum health by 25% per stack.

Carapace of N'Zoth
We advise you to use the following essences against Carapace of N'Zoth.
- Major Slot
- The Crucible of Flame — Rank 3: Concentrated Flame + Ancient Flame
- Minor Slots
- Conflict and Strife — Rank 3: Strife
- Nullification Dynamo — Rank 3: Null Barrier
- The Formless Void — Rank 3: Symbiotic Presence
Tips
- Throughout the encounter, you will be swapping at 2 stacks of Black Scar.
- You can negate gaining the Black Scar debuff by having Anti-Magic Shell active when Mandible Slam is being cast.
- During Phase 1, you will want to tank the boss on top of the tentacles when they spawn, and keep him away from the shadow of the Growth-Covered Tentacle.
- After the Growth-Covered Tentacle has spawned, lots of adds will spawn. Group them together with Gorefiend's Grasp.
- During Phase 2, once you have destroyed all the Growths on the sides of the room and the boss is active again, you will need to keep him out of the Mycelial Growth patches, as they will give him 100% increased damage.
- During Phase 3, adds will spawn after each Insanity Bomb. Be prepared to group them together with Gorefiend's Grasp.
For more information, please refer to our Carapace of N'Zoth guide.

- Minor Slots
- Conflict and Strife — Rank 3: Strife
- Nullification Dynamo — Rank 3: Null Barrier
- The Formless Void — Rank 3: Symbiotic Presence
Tips
- During Phase 1, you will need to tank Psychus near the tentacles, as when one dies, he will take 50% more damage from Synaptic Shock.
- During Phase 2, if you are in the Physical Realm, Wraith Walk is essential for reaching the new tentacle waves when they spawn. If there is no tank, it will start to deal massive damage to the whole raid.
- During Phase 2, if you are in the Mindscape, this will work the same as Phase 1, but have an added ability. If it is Deathwing, avoid the fire on the floor. If it is Azshara/Sylvanas, avoid moving, apart from where necessary.
- During Phase 3, you will want to tank the Thought Devourer on top of N'Zoth for cleave DPS.
