Tips for Vexie Fullthrottle for Brewmaster Monk

2.1.

Defensive Tips

  • When to taunt: After every cast of Tank Buster Icon Tank Buster from The Geargrinder. Be aware that this will also apply a bleed to you and may force the boss to be repositioned out of the Oil Slick Icon Oil Slick created underneath itself on HeroicHeroic.
2.2.

Cooldown Usage

  • For the most part, there are no unique cooldown timings to worry about for optimizing your damage. However, there are times when The Geargrinder will take 100% more damage from Mechanical Breakdown Icon Mechanical Breakdown. Aim to trigger Aspect of Harmony Icon Aspect of Harmony in these moments, along with any on-use trinkets that have a cooldown of 2 minutes. You may also wish to maximize Weapons of Order Icon Weapons of Order uptime here, but this will depend on your raid's skill at triggering Mechanical Breakdowns at appropriate times.
2.3.

Mechanical Tips

  • You will frequently have to reposition in this encounter due to its mechanics; focus on keeping The Geargrinder near the edges of the arena.
  • Take advantage of Lighter Than Air Icon Lighter Than Air's dash to counteract the knockback from each Tank Buster Icon Tank Buster.
  • Make use of Leg Sweep Icon Leg Sweep and other AoE stuns to prevent Pit Mechanics from casting Repair Icon Repair.
2.4.

Difficulty Differences

  • HeroicHeroic: Additional Oil Slick Icon Oil Slicks will be created, encouraging proper positioning throughout the encounter to avoid running out of safe areas. Oil Slicks may also be removed by players targeted with Incendiary Fire Icon Incendiary Fire.
  • MythicMythic: Geargrinder Bikers will send Oil Canister Icon Oil Canisters flying upon death, which must be caught by players and used to refuel Geargrinder bikes to trigger Blaze of Glory Icon Blaze of Glory.
  • MythicMythic: A Support Rig will appear during each Tune-Up Icon Tune-Up, which must be kept away from other enemies due to High Maintenance Icon High Maintenance. Both Paralysis Icon Paralysis and Ring of Peace Icon Ring of Peace are excellent tools for this.

Tips for Cauldron of Carnage for Brewmaster Monk

2.6.

Defensive Tips

  • When to taunt: Swap which tank has each boss after every Colossal Clash Icon Colossal Clash. Be aware that your Stagger Icon Stagger and Celestial Brew Icon Celestial Brew do still count as mitigation for reducing the Nature damage of Torq's Lightning Bash Icon Lightning Bash!
2.7.

Cooldown Usage

  • There are no unique cooldown timings to worry about for your damage.
2.8.

Mechanical Tips

  • Flarendo and Torq must be kept at least 45 yards away from each other at all times due to Raised Guard Icon Raised Guard.
  • Flarendo is frequently unable to move due to casting other mechanics. Hasty Provocation Icon Hasty Provocation can be helpful for repositioning him during these small moments.
  • Make use of Transcendence Icon Transcendence and Lighter Than Air Icon Lighter Than Air to negate the fall damage from Flarendo's Eruption Stomp Icon Eruption Stomp.
  • Limit your movement while in range of Torq to avoid being stunned by a buildup of Static Charge Icon Static Charge.
2.9.

Difficulty Differences

  • HeroicHeroic: Flarendo gains the Molten Phlegm Icon Molten Phlegm ability, preventing players from stacking. In addition, his Scrapbomb Icon Scrapbombs create Molten Pool Icon Molten Pools.
  • HeroicHeroic: Torq gains the Voltaic Image Icon Voltaic Image ability, summoning temporary adds that fixate non-tank players. Help keep them away with Ring of Peace Icon Ring of Peace.
  • MythicMythic: Tiny Tussle Icon Tiny Tussle creates small toy versions of each boss, which must be carefully kicked into each other on a delay to reduce the damage dealt to the raid. All must be dealt with before each Colossal Clash Icon Colossal Clash. As a tank, you will largely ignore this mechanic.
  • MythicMythic: Voltaic Image Icon Voltaic Images will automatically detonate and create Lingering Electricity Icon Lingering Electricity pools. Torq will additionally create Zapbolt Icon Zapbolts on random locations throughout the encounter to force you to move and risk triggering Static Charge Icon Static Charge.

Tips for Rik Reverb for Brewmaster Monk

2.11.

Defensive Tips

  • When to taunt: Swap tanking duties based on your stacks of Tinnitus Icon Tinnitus from the boss's Sonic Blast Icon Sonic Blast autoattacks (5-6). Be careful not to cleave your co-tank or other players, as Sonic Blast hits in a cone!
2.12.

Cooldown Usage

  • There are no unique cooldown timings to worry about for your damage. However, be aware that Rik Reverb takes effectively no damage during each phase of Blaring Drop Icon Blaring Drops due to his Sound Cloud Icon Sound Cloud. Focus on your survival at these times instead.
2.13.

Mechanical Tips

  • You will need to regularly move Rik Reverb away from various Amplifiers in the encounter area due to Resonance Icon Resonance.
  • Each Amplifier with the highest Energy level will trigger Blowout! Icon Blowout! to avoid Blaring Drop Icon Blaring Drop. You may also avoid one Drop per phase with Transcendence Icon Transcendence.
2.14.

Difficulty Differences

  • HeroicHeroic: Players must rotate in activating Amplifiers due to Lingering Voltage Icon Lingering Voltage.

Tips for Stix Bunkjunker for Brewmaster Monk

2.16.

Defensive Tips

  • When to taunt: During every cast of Electromagnetic Sorting Icon Electromagnetic Sorting (shortly after a Demolish Icon Demolish). The tank that currently has threat on the boss during this time will always be chosen for Rolling Rubbish Icon Rolling Rubbish. The tank that is not currently in Rolling Rubbish will instead receive Meltdown Icon Meltdown on HeroicHeroic. Be prepared with defensives such as Dampen Harm Icon Dampen Harm and/or Diffuse Magic Icon Diffuse Magic.
    • Due to how the Demolish Icon Demolish debuff times out, one tank can handle every cast of it (and therefore handle every Rolling Rubbish Icon Rolling Rubbish). Consider this approach if you or your co-tank are not comfortable with the mechanic.
2.17.

Cooldown Usage

  • There are no unique cooldown timings to worry about for your damage. However, there are times when enemies may take 100% increased damage due to Messed Up Icon Messed Up. Aim to trigger Aspect of Harmony Icon Aspect of Harmony in these moments.
2.18.

Mechanical Tips

  • While on Rolling Rubbish Icon Rolling Rubbish, focus on rolling into garbage piles to maximize your size; as a tank you will likely be rolling into a Discarded Doomsplosive Icon Discarded Doomsplosive, but be sure to communicate with your other raiders that are rolling around. If this is not your duty, instead focus on collecting Junkyard Hyenas and Scrapmasters to apply Messed Up Icon Messed Up to them after triggering Garbage Dump Icon Garbage Dump on the boss with your ball at maximum size. Do not forget that you can also Leg Sweep Icon Leg Sweep them afterward!
    • Be careful not to be in the middle of your Roll Icon Roll's animation when being placed onto your Rolling Rubbish Icon Rolling Rubbish, or you will be unable to move it!
  • Each cast of Incinerator Icon Incinerator will automatically ignite the two nearest Garbage Pile Icon Garbage Piles to the boss in addition to any created by players; take advantage of this when repositioning between Electromagnetic Sorting Icon Electromagnetic Sorting casts.
  • HeroicHeroic: Territorial Bombshells can be accidentally destroyed with a Rolling Rubbish Icon Rolling Rubbish. Avoid doing this at all costs due to the increased raid damage taken and loss of boss damage, and be extremely careful about using Ring of Peace Icon Ring of Peace when any are present.
2.19.

Difficulty Differences

  • HeroicHeroic: Stix Bunkjunker gains the Meltdown Icon Meltdown ability, inflicting heavy Nature damage to the current tank. Avoid being the active tank against this ability while you are debuffed by Demolish Icon Demolish.
  • HeroicHeroic: Territorial Bombshells appear during each phase of Electromagnetic Sorting Icon Electromagnetic Sorting, and cannot be moved or displaced until they have reached 80% health due to being Territorial Icon Territorial.

In addition, Scrapmasters summoned during Electromagnetic Sorting Icon Electromagnetic Sorting gain The Recycler Icon The Recycler, instantly defeating a player if they are not rolled over by a medium-sized Rolling Rubbish Icon Rolling Rubbish.

Tips for Sprocketmonger Lockenstock for Brewmaster Monk

  • When to taunt: After every cast of Pyro Party Pack Icon Pyro Party Pack. Be aware that you will potentially be increasingly snared due to your stacks of Gravi-Gunk Icon Gravi-Gunk. Roll Icon Roll, Tiger's Lust Icon Tiger's Lust, and Lighter Than Air Icon Lighter Than Air can assist in moving away from your raid with your Party Pack. Shado-Pan players can also take advantage of Protect and Serve Icon Protect and Serve with Vivacious Vivification Icon Vivacious Vivification while away from the healers.
2.22.

Cooldown Usage

  • There are no unique cooldown timings to worry about for your damage.

  • Take advantage of Transcendence Icon Transcendence and your mobility to reduce the damage your raid takes from Pyro Party Pack Icon Pyro Party Pack.
  • The metallic edges of the center conveyor belt can be run on to avoid being moved by it.
  • Beta Launch Icon Beta Launch will send you away from the boss. Take advantage of this to quickly reach him near where he started in the room as he channels Bleeding Edge Icon Bleeding Edge.
  • Plan your movements ahead of time; not every player is as mobile as you and capable of handling sudden boss repositioning.
  • HeroicHeroic: As a tank, you are well-suited to dealing with Foot-Blasters Icon Foot-Blasters. However, you cannot trigger more than one every two minutes without committing heavy defensive cooldowns due to the Unstable Shrapnel Icon Unstable Shrapnel debuff they apply.
2.24.

Difficulty Differences

  • HeroicHeroic: Foot-Blasters Icon Foot-Blasters are placed in set encounter locations over time and must be triggered over time to prevent the raid from wiping due to multiple Unstable Explosion Icon Unstable Explosions.
  • MythicMythic: Polarization Generator Icon Polarization Generator applies Posi-Polarization Icon Posi-Polarization or Nega-Polarization Icon Nega-Polarization to members of the raid. Coming in contact with the opposite polarization triggers a Polarization Blast Icon Polarization Blast. Tips for One-Armed Bandit for Brewmaster Monk

2.26.

Defensive Tips

  • When to taunt: After every use of The Big Hit Icon The Big Hit. You will also create a Shocking Field Icon Shocking Field under your feet shortly after being hit by this ability; be sure to drop it near a wall!
2.27.

Cooldown Usage

  • There are no unique cooldown timings to worry about for your damage.
2.28.

Mechanical Tips

  • Position the boss next to your preferred Reel Assistants during each period of Spin To Win! Icon Spin To Win!. Remember that you can see which tokens are available based on the graphics over each Assistant's head.
  • You will only see Bomb token Reel Assistants during every even cast of Spin To Win! Icon Spin To Win!. Consider prioritizing them when present, as these are some of the most favorable mechanics you can opt into.
  • Be mindful of the blue Pay-Line Icon Pay-Lines; aim to acquire the High Roller! Icon High Roller! buff by standing near them if you are safely able to. Being Crushed! Icon Crushed! as a tank is especially dangerous for your raid!
  • As a tank player, you are responsible for triggering any Coils that have been created from depositing Shock tokens during Spin To Win! Icon Spin To Win!. They will automatically activate once when first created, but after that time you must manually click on them (suffering a massive Physical hit) to activate them and remove 2 Shocking Field Icon Shocking Fields that have been created from The Big Hit Icon The Big Hit. Keep the room clean, but do not overuse the coils.
  • Once in Stage 2, make use of pings to communicate with your raid which direction the boss will be moving to prevent any accidental deaths from the Voltaic Streak Icon Voltaic Streaks constantly being channeled into it.
2.29.

Difficulty Differences

  • HeroicHeroic: During Spin To Win! Icon Spin To Win!, the boss remains active and can be dragged between Reel Assistants. However, it can also cast The Big Hit Icon The Big Hit during this time as well. Be ready to taunt.

Tips for Mug'Zee for Brewmaster Monk

2.31.

Defensive Tips

  • When to taunt:
  • On Mug's half of the room, after each cast of Molten Gold Knuckles Icon Molten Gold Knuckles. Note that this ability hits in a cone; be careful to not hit other players or your co-tank.
    • As a Brewmaster, you are better suited to dealing with this particular attack. Consider being the primary tank on Mug's half of the room.
  • On Zee's half of the room, after each cast of Double Whammy Shot Icon Double Whammy Shot. You or your co-tank will need to be the first target hit by the ability, receiving a Perforating Wound Icon Perforating Wound in the process. Be aware that Stagger Icon Stagger and your Celestial Brew Icon Celestial Brew do still count as mitigation for reducing the damage dealt to the raid.
2.32.

Cooldown Usage

  • There are no unique cooldown timings to worry about for your damage.
2.33.

Mechanical Tips

  • This fight's mechanics are triggered by having the majority of your raid standing on the same half of the divided room. As a tank, your repositioning of the boss will be key for "encouraging" more players switch sides.
  • You must switch sides of the room after a full cycle of abilities from a given half, or Mug'Zee will gain Double-Minded Fury Icon Double-Minded Fury from reaching full Energy. In addition, their stacks of Moxie Icon Moxie will gradually increase over time, as you cannot remove them all when properly switching sides.
  • Even if you are not the fixate target of Unstable Crawler Mines Icon Unstable Crawler Mines, you can still detonate them on contact. Watch your feet! Unfortunately, they are immune to both Ring of Peace Icon Ring of Peace and Leg Sweep Icon Leg Sweep.
  • When Mug is in control, do not help soak Earthshaker Gaol Icon Earthshaker Gaol as a tank player; neither you nor your co-tank can afford to be trapped within its walls, and any Gallagio Goons that are near the boss immediately become Enraged Icon Enraged!
  • When Zee is in control, help soak the Goblin-guided Rocket Icon Goblin-guided Rocket hits if you do not have Radiation Sickness Icon Radiation Sickness (HeroicHeroic)
  • When Zee is in control, be careful about positioning the boss to cleave the Mk II Electro Shockers. They will trigger Faulty Wiring Icon Faulty Wiring upon reaching 80% HP, briefly stunning them and causing them to receive 100% more damage during this time. Do not trigger this stun if you do not intend to finish them off!
2.34.

Difficulty Differences

  • HeroicHeroic: Players affected by Frostshatter Boots Icon Frostshatter Boots will also be targeted by a Frostshatter Spear Icon Frostshatter Spear, freezing the first player they make contact with. Position yourself to have the Spear hit a wall created by Earthshaker Gaol Icon Earthshaker Gaol (though tanks will not be targeted by this ability under normal circumstances).
  • HeroicHeroic: Unstable Crawler Mines Icon Unstable Crawler Mines create Unstable Cluster Bomb Icon Unstable Cluster Bombs when detonated, which must all be soaked by at least one player.
  • HeroicHeroic: Players must split into two raid groups to soak Goblin-guided Rocket Icon Goblin-guided Rocket due to the blast applying Radiation Sickness Icon Radiation Sickness.
  • MythicMythic: Head Honcho Icon Head Honcho will only be triggered when the entire raid is on the same half of the room. Communicate appropriately when repositioning!
  • MythicMythic: Unstable Crawler Mines Icon Unstable Crawler Mines cannot be detonated by players and must instead be triggered by Earthshaker Gaol Icon Earthshaker Gaol walls.
  • MythicMythic: Players affected by Frostshatter Boots Icon Frostshatter Boots must run into a Hot Mess Icon Hot Mess created by a Goblin-guided Rocket Icon Goblin-guided Rocket to remove the debuff. As a tank, you will not be targeted by this ability.
  • MythicMythic: Mk II Electro Shockers gain an Electro-Charged Shield Icon Electro-Charged Shield, which can only be removed by Mug's Stormfury Finger Gun Icon Stormfury Finger Gun.

Tips for Chrome King Gallywix for Brewmaster Monk

2.36.

Defensive Tips

  • When to taunt:
    • Phase 1: After every cast of Scatterblast Canisters Icon Scatterblast Canisters. Bear in mind that this ability cleaves, and you will want to divide the raid into two groups to alternate hits through each tank's group. In addition, the boss will passively gain stacks of Trick Shots Icon Trick Shots, dealing unavoidable damage upon reaching 10 stacks or switching targets.
    • Phase 3: After every cast of Bigger Badder Bomb Blast Icon Bigger Badder Bomb Blast. On HeroicHeroic you will also have the Ego Check Icon Ego Check mechanic to contend with, which may require further taunts based on damage taken.
2.37.

Cooldown Usage

  • There are no unique cooldown timings to worry about for your damage, though there are times you will need to briefly disengage from the boss due to other mechanics.
2.38.

Mechanical Tips

  • Take advantage of Summon Black Ox Statue Icon Summon Black Ox Statue, Hasty Provocation Icon Hasty Provocation, and Leg Sweep Icon Leg Sweep/Ring of Peace Icon Ring of Peace to help with grouping and controlling adds spawned around the center of the arena throughout the fight. Remember to keep moving your statue as necessary, though!
  • Although you can survive Gallybux Finale Blast Icon Gallybux Finale Blast as a tank, it will likely require you to commit extra defensive resources better served elsewhere. Instead, use Transcendence Icon Transcendence and your other mobility to greatly reduce its damage at a distance.
  • On HeroicHeroic, you will likely be handling most 1500-Pound Dud Icon 1500-Pound Duds that are created by Big Bad Buncha Bombs Icon Big Bad Buncha Bombs due to your mobility.
  • On HeroicHeroic, Pressure Points Icon Pressure Points can be used to remove Lumbering Rage Icon Lumbering Rage from the Darkfuse Wrenchmonger you are tanking, though this is not necessary if you are sufficiently healed.
2.39.

Difficulty Differences

  • HeroicHeroic: Each cast of Big Bad Buncha Bombs Icon Big Bad Buncha Bombs will create two 1500-Pound Dud Icon 1500-Pound Duds that must be interacted with by a tank player to trigger a Focused Detonation Icon Focused Detonation and Time-Release Crackle Icon Time-Release Crackle. This may be done by one or both tanks, depending on their spawn locations; communicate with your co-tank!
  • HeroicHeroic: Giga Coils Icon Giga Coils additionally release Overloaded Bolts Icon Overloaded Bolts, which must be dodged throughout the encounter.
  • HeroicHeroic: Darkfuse Wrenchmongers gain the Lumbering Rage Icon Lumbering Rage ability at lower health, increasing their damage dealt.
  • HeroicHeroic: While Gallywix is casting TOTAL DESTRUCTION!!! Icon TOTAL DESTRUCTION!!!, Radiant Electricity Icon Radiant Electricity beams will slowly circle around him and must be avoided.
  • HeroicHeroic: In Phase 3, Gallywix additionally gains the Ego Check Icon Ego Check ability, which applies a DoT based on unmitigated damage. As a Brewmaster, your Stagger Icon Stagger and Celestial Brew Icon Celestial Brew do count as mitigation, though this ability is still dangerous in a phase with massive raid-wide damage. Be ready to call for externals, and make good use of your defensive cooldowns. In addition, each cast of Bigger Badder Bomb Blast Icon Bigger Badder Bomb Blast will create two 1500-Pound Dud Icon 1500-Pound Duds to be handled by the tanks.
  • MythicMythic: On this difficulty the fight sees substantial timing and strategy changes, including immediately starting in Phase 3. Most of these changes will not apply to you as a tank, having already been added on the previous HeroicHeroic difficulty instead. However, it is likely you or your cotank will be called upon to handle an Auto-Locking Cuff Bomb Icon Auto-Locking Cuff Bomb, making your survival more important than it already is!

General Defensive Usage Notes

Brewmaster Monk has several defensive spells that you should plan to use and rotate throughout mechanics. You should opt to use the smaller cooldown spells often as needed with incoming hits and save bigger cooldowns like Fortifying Brew Icon Fortifying Brew for large incoming damage.

  • Purifying Brew Icon Purifying Brew
  • Celestial Brew Icon Celestial Brew
  • Dampen Harm Icon Dampen Harm
  • Diffuse Magic Icon Diffuse Magic
  • Zen Meditation Icon Zen Meditation
2.42.

General Cooldown Usage

Brewmaster Monk has a few cooldowns to think about using optimally on the fights in Liberation of Undermine:

  • Fortifying Brew Icon Fortifying Brew — Your largest defensive cooldown. Despite its lengthy 6-minute cooldown, its actual recharge time is closer to 2-3 minutes due to cooldown reduction effects from your Keg Smash Icon Keg Smash and Tiger Palm Icon Tiger Palm rotational abilities.
  • Weapons of Order Icon Weapons of Order — Although this is primarily a damage cooldown, it does also increase your Mastery (and therefore your dodge chance) for a lengthy period on a relatively short cooldown.
  • Purifying Brew Icon Purifying Brew/Celestial Brew Icon Celestial Brew — These two abilities represent your "primary" mitigation abilities, with Purifying Brew Icon Purifying Brew being cast right after taking a hit of damage and Celestial Brew Icon Celestial Brew being used to shield against future damage. More information on using them appropriately, along with the core Brewmaster passive of Stagger Icon Stagger, can be found on our rotation page.
  • Dampen Harm Icon Dampen Harm — An often misunderstood cooldown, this ability grants additional damage reduction against instances of damage depending on how dangerous they are. While active, all damage taken will be reduced by at least 20%, with hits for your maximum health or more being reduced by 50% and everywhere in between for smaller ones.
  • Diffuse Magic Icon Diffuse Magic — Not only can this cooldown provide a large amount of damage reduction against Magical attacks, but it can also be used to dispel yourself of dangerous mechanics!
  • Zen Meditation Icon Zen Meditation — This cooldown offers an incredibly large amount of damage reduction, but will be broken if you attempt to move, take other actions, or are hit by a melee attack. Save it for dangerous tankbusters or a nasty DoT while you are not actively tanking.

In addition to the general rotation, you want to keep in mind that your goal is to use your cooldowns as often as possible during an encounter. With that in mind, your secondary goal is to use them at the correct time.

We highly suggest using some Addon or WeakAura to track the estimated time to die of your target/boss target. Method Raid Tools has this as an option if you are already using this addon. By tracking time to die, if you know that you can only fit one more cycle of your cooldowns in before the boss dies, you can choose to hold these cooldowns to better line up with Bloodlust Icon Bloodlust, your Potion, or even your other cooldowns, trying to look for opportunities to stack all of them.

2.43.

Resetting Encounters with Transcendence

All Monk specializations — but especially Brewmasters — are capable of resetting most boss encounters with the use of Transcendence Icon Transcendence and Transcendence: Transfer Icon Transcendence: Transfer. This can be especially useful in a progression environment to save on repair costs and allow players to keep their consumable buffs, such as food from a Feast of the Divine Day Icon Feast of the Divine Day. All you have to do as a Monk is place your Transcendence spirit beyond the area that will normally be closed off after engaging the boss. Then, if you would like to reset the encounter, get the boss's attention with Provoke Icon Provoke and teleport outside the encounter area with Transcendence: Transfer Icon Transcendence: Transfer. If done successfully, the boss will follow you outside and despawn.

Unless otherwise used during an encounter or mentioned in its tips section, it is highly recommended to get into the habit of setting up this form of fight reset. However, you should never feel forced to do so if there is a point in an encounter that you prefer having access to one of your most powerful mobility tools.
