Delves Guide for the War Within
Delves in The War Within offer a blend of quick, challenging adventures that are perfect
for both solo players and groups. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know,
from basic mechanics and strategic tips to the rewards you can earn, including the Delver's Mana-Skimmer mount.
Introduction
Delves are bite-sized, role-agnostic, repayable world instances that allow you to engage in quick yet rewarding adventures. Delves can be experienced solo or in a group of up to 5 players alongside a customizable NPC companion. In this guide, we will cover everything you need to know about Delves in the War Within.
Delve Changes in The War Within Season 3
Here are the changes implemented to delves in Season 3:
Delver's Bounty now drops upon reaching rank 2 in the Delver's Journey.
- The Alliance and Horde compete on which faction can complete the most delves in the season. The faction that reaches the goal will have their faction's banner planted permanently in Dornogal's Delver's Headquarters. When each faction reaches this milestone, players will receive Alliance and Horde-themed paint colors for the Delver's Rewards mount no matter who finishes first.
- New story variants have been added to Sidestreet Sluice, Excavation Site 9, Kriegval's Rest, and Fungal Folly.
- The Sinkhole and Tak-Rethan Abyss are no longer underwater.
- A new delve trinket vendor unlockable through the Delver's Journey has been added. He will spawn
in Tier 9+ delves and offer players to buy from a selection of trinkets that cost 2,000
Undercoins each.
- Overcharged Delves have been removed, players can now buy
OC91 Chariot from Finley for 15,000
Undercoins.
- Nexus Princess Ky'veza is the new seasonal nemesis, offering new rewards to players who defeat her before the next season of delves.
- Flickergates that grant
Undercoins are scattered through delves in the new season, but they have a chance to summon this season's nemesis Nexus Princess Ky'veza.
- You can use Reshii Wraps to unlock secret rooms inside delves.
- Players can now leave messages left by other players inside delves and see where they died.
What Are Delves?
Delves are short, 10-15 minute scenarios designed to fit into your gameplay schedule and contribute to your character's progression, as they provide credit toward the Great Vault rewards in the War Within.
Unlike dungeons and raids, Delves can be completed solo or with a group of up to 5 players. The flexibility combined with their role-agnostic nature makes Delves accessible to all types of players.
Key Features
Delves are designed to be replayable, with varying levels of difficulty and rewards. The season companion can be customized to fit your playstyle, whether you need a healer, a damage dealer, or a support character. Delves have 11 Tiers of difficulty, providing a challenging experience for players of all skill levels.
Navigating Delves: Finding Entrances on the Map
When exploring Khaz Algar, you will find each delve marked on your Map with a unique cave icon, making it easier to locate them as you travel through the zones.
As you approach the icon on the Map, check your surroundings for cave openings, ruins, and other visual cues in the environment.

Understanding the Delves UI Window at the Entrance
When you approach the entrance to a Delve, you will be greeted by a special User Interface window that provides important information to prepare you for your run.
At the top of the UI, the name of the Delve is displayed. Beneath it, you will find a dropdown menu that lets you select the Tier of difficulty. Higher tiers are more challenging but also give you better rewards.
The UI also provides a brief description of your main objectives in a Delve. For example, your task is to free miners from spider webs, kill Nerubians, and so forth. Make sure to read this before entering so you are aware of the primary goals.
On the right side, the UI lists the rewards you will receive
upon completing the Delve. Rewards typically include Experience for your
companion and the treasure room contains chests that you can open for gear,
Resonant Crystals,
Radiant Echo,
Titan Disc Fragments,
Valorstones, and
Undercoin.
Meet Brann Bronzebeard, Your Trusty Delve Companion
Brann will be your delve companion throughout The War Within expansion. Your NPC companion comes with a fully customizable role and curios, allowing you to tailor his abilities to best support your journey through the various Delves in Khaz Algar.
To make the most of Brann's abilities, check out our comprehensive guide to Brann Bronzebeard, where we dive deep into his Talent Tree, best curios to equip, and strategies for optimizing his performance in your delve adventures.
Understanding Bountiful Delves in the War Within
Bountiful Delves have glowing icons compared to regular Delves and offer
increased rewards because they provide access to Bountiful Coffers
found at the end of your run. These special chests can be opened with
Restored Coffer Keys that you can get by collecting
Coffer Key Shards from world activities and quests. A timer will
be displayed indicating the remaining time before another Delve
becomes Bountiful.
You should always prioritize completing Bountiful Delves over regular Delves to get better loot.
When you reach max level, you will receive the Bountiful Delves quest
in Dornogal, which requires you to obtain a Restored Coffer Key and
find a delve that offers a
Bountiful Coffer.
Gearing in Delves: Earn Progress Towards the Great Vault
Regular Delves only drop non-upgradeable gear regardless the tier, which is why you should focus on completing Bountiful Delves that offer better gear with increasing difficulty.
Completing 2/4/8 delves unlocks items in the Great Vault the following week! To maximize your rewards and receive Hero-track gear in your vault, you should complete 8 Tier 8 runs every week. Check out our separate guide for even more information about how the weekly chest works.
Here are the item levels of loot from delves in The War Within Season 3:
Delve Tier | End of Run Loot Item Level | Delver's Bounty Item Level | Great Vault Loot Item Level |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 655 (Adventurer 1/8) | — | 668 (Veteran 1/8) |
2 | 658 (Adventurer 2/8) | — | 671 (Veteran 2/8) |
3 | 661 (Adventurer 3/8) | — | 675 (Veteran 3/8) |
4 | 664 (Adventurer 4/8) | 671 (Veteran 2/8) | 678 (Veteran 4/8) |
5 | 668 (Veteran 1/8) | 678 (Veteran 4/8) | 681 (Champion 1/8) |

7 | 681 (Champion 1/8) | 691 (Champion 4/8) | 691 (Champion 4/8) |
8+ | 684 (Champion 2/8) | 694 (Hero 1/6) | 694 (Hero 1/6) |
Delves Difficulty
Delves are divided into 11 tiers of difficulty, with Tier 1 being the easiest and Tier 11 the most difficult.
To unlock Tier 4+, you need to earn the War Within Delves: Endgame achievement on at least 1 character.
You do not need to unlock tiers for each delve separately. When you complete say Earthcrawl Mines Tier 7, Tier 8 will unlock for all Delves.
It is important to note that loot scales only up to Tier 8. Tiers 9-11 are for crests only and do not offer better loot.

Delver's Bounty
Once per week in Season 3, you will loot Delver's Bounty from Nexus Princess Ky'veza that has a chance to
randomly spawn anywhere during your delve run. Bringing her down to 50% will spawn a pile of gold with the bounty and other loot.
Using Delver's Bounty during the same run will provide you with a Hidden Trove at the end of your run in Tier 8 delves.
Keep in mind in Season 3, you will not receive Delver's Bounty unless you hit rank 2 in the Delver's Journey.
Shrieking Quartz is an item you can buy from Sir Finley Mrrgglton at the Delver's Headquarters in Dornogal
for 2,000
Undercoins. With this item, you can summon Nexus Princess Ky'veza to your delve after reaching the checkpoint. Here is how to do it.
Enter a Tier 8 delve and reach the delve checkpoint and clear the surrounding area. Then, use Shrieking Quartz to summon Ky'veza and bring
her down to 50%. Loot the gold pile, get the
Delver's Bounty and use it before killing the delve boss.
Delve Mechanics in Season 3
Delves feature various mechanics that improve the depth and complexity of each run. Below are key elements you will encounter during your runs.
Secret Rooms Accessed via Reshii Wraps
Unlocking the Secrets of the Depths upgrade on your Reshii Wraps grants access to secret rooms inside delves that can be entered through Ethereal portals. These are often shortcuts that allow you to complete delves faster. They often revolve around solving a puzzle and defeating bosses.
Flickergates
In Season 3, you will find Flickergates inside delves. You can click them to receive Undercoins and
Brann XP, but keep in mind they also have a small chance to summon Nexus Princess Ky'veza!
Nemesis Strongbox
At Tier 4+, Ky'veza's allies will be present in delves. The mobs will carry the Pactsworn prefix in their name. Watch out for them, as they are more powerful compared to regular mobs you will face during your runs.
Defeating 3-4 packs of these groups will provide you with better loot inside the Nemesis Strongbox at the end of your run. A message will pop up when your loot in that chest is upgraded.
Nemesis Strongboxes mostly contain crafting materials.
Curio Containers
While Season 2 Brann curios have been retired, they return in a limited form. By opening Curio containers, there is a chance Brann will receive one of the following powers in Season 3:
Damaged Automatic Footbomb Dispenser — Brann's spells and abilities have a chance to drop 3 footbombs on the field for 10 seconds. Running into a footbomb kicks it at your enemy target dealing significant Fire damage to all enemies in a 6-yard radius.
Damaged Biofuel Rocket Gear — Party members are equipped with
Biofuel Rocket Gear.
Biofuel: Each enemy slain fuels the Biofuel increasing Movement Speed by 2% and Haste by 2% for 20 seconds, stacking up to 15 times.
Three Dimensional Misprint — Occassionally summon a misprinted copy of Brann to assist you in combat.
Kaja'Cola Carrier — Summons a Kaja'6-Pack. There are various Kaja'Cola flavors, and each one has its own effect that applies when collected.
Delve Trinket Vendor and Rotation
Once you hit rank 3 in Delver's Journey, you will unlock access to a new trinket vendor at the end of your Tier 9+ runs! This vendor sells a curated selection of trinkets on a fixed rotation.
Zah'ran has a chance to sell the following trinkets:
Automatic Footbomb Dispenser
Chaotic Nethergate
Essence-Hunter's Eyeglass
Incorporeal Essence-Gorger
Manaforged Aethercell
Mind-Fracturing Odium
Shadowguard's Twisted Harvester
Soulbreaker's Sigil
Symbiotic Ethergauze
Twisted Mana Sprite
Veiling Mana Shroud
Void-Touched Fragment
Gilded Crests from Tier 11 Bountiful Delves
Completing a Tier 11 Bountiful delve with lives remaining will grant you a Gilded Stash, which gives you
7
Gilded Ethereal Crests. You can complete this up to 3 times for a total of 21 Gilded Ethereal Crests from delves per week.
You do not need
Restored Coffer Keys to open them.
Delve Basics
Here are some basics that apply to all delve runs.
Explorers' League Supplies
At the beginning of each delve and at its checkpoint, you will find Explorers' League Supplies. This interactive object allows you to repair your gear or set up talents for your NPC Companion.
Delve Objectives
Most delves consist of 2-3 scenario-like objectives that must be completed before you can face the final boss. These objectives will change every time you enter a delve. There are multiple variations of objectives for each delve.
In one of the Earthcrawl Mines variants, you need to rescue Webbed Lamplighters and survive a Nerubian ambush.
Sturdy Chests
Inside delves, you will come across Sturdy Chests hidden in various
locations. These chests contain Companion Experience and Resonant Crystals.
Mislaid Curiosities
Mislaid Curiosities are small bags found on the ground that contain Companion Experience.
Rare Elites and Special Powers
Inside delves, Rare Elites will be marked on your map with a special icon. Once defeated, they will grant Brann a powerful buff for the rest of your run.
- Defeating Great Devourer grants Brann
Hunger from Beyond — Gain the endless hunger of the devourers, gaining 5% Leech, which increases as your health decreases.
- Defeating Mercenary Acquisitionist grants Brann
Mercenary Contract — While in combat, a Contracted Mercenary has a chance to appear and assist you. Can only happen every 2 minutes.
- Defeating Invasive Phasecrawler grants Brann
Phaseblood Potion — Brann can throw out a Phaseblood Potion. Running over it heals you and reduces damage you take by 50% for 3 seconds.
- Defeating D'rude grants Brann
Sandstorm — Chance when attacking an enemy to unleash a sandstorm, blinding nearby enemies.
Checkpoints in Delves
As you progress through delves, you will find checkpoints strategically placed close to the final objective before the boss encounter.
When you die, you will respawn at the checkpoint and not at the beginning of the delve. At these checkpoints, you can sell gear, adjust Brann's abilities, and repair your gear. Reaching the checkpoint will grant you +1 Revive.
Revives in Delves
When you enter a delve, you will notice a "Revives Remaining" counter in the Delve UI. The counter shows how many times you and your party members can die and respawn inside the same delve. Every time a player releases their spirit after death, one revive is subtracted from the total.
The number of revives remaining at the end of the delve directly impacts the quality of the rewards you receive at the end of your run, so it is very important to play cautiously.
- Tiers 1-3: No death limit.
- Tiers 4-8: 5 Revives.
- Tiers 9: 4 Revives.
- Tiers 10-11: 3 Revives.
When you lose all your revive in Tier + Bountiful Delve, you will not receive a Bountiful Chest at the end of it. It is recommended to zone out and start anew.
Final Boss
At the end of the delve, you must fight a boss to unlock the treasure room and reap rewards. The final boss will always be the same for each delve.
Delver's Determination Buff
For each death while facing the final boss, you will receive a stack of
Delver's Determination. It increases your health, damage dealt, and
healing received by 5% per stack.
Treasure Room
When you defeat the final boss, you will reach the Treasure Room, which consists of multiple loot chests.
Bountiful Coffer
Found only inside Bountiful Delves, Bountiful Coffer is an epic chest
that contains the best loot. It requires Restored Coffer Keys to open.
It also has a chance to provide you with
Radiant Echo for the
Worldsoul Memory event, and other rewards.
Bountiful Heavy Trunk
The rare chest contains Titan Disc Fragments for the weekly quest.
You will also receive
Undercoins,
Valorstones and
Companion Curios.
Delver's Journey in The War Within Season 3
