Lore
The Demonic Inquisition is the second boss in the Tomb of Sargeras.
Anticipating the arrival of mortal forces invading the Tomb of Sargeras, Kil'jaeden has called on his best captors, Atrigan and Belac, to lock down the interlopers and prevent them from using the Pillars to advance deeper into the dungeon.
Outline
The Demonic Inquisition is a single-phase encounter featuring 2 bosses that engage the raid together. During the encounter, any damage taken from either boss' abilities will increase the player's Torment levels. Upon reaching maximum Torment (100), they must Confess to remove a crippling debuff and be transported into a prison area. This constitutes a pseudo-phase of its own, where the jailed players must survive while collecting enough Remnants of Hope to escape the cage. The two bosses share health, allowing classes with efficient cleave (such as Destruction Warlocks) to shine brightly.
Here is a preview of the fight from the PTR.
TL;DR
Tanks
- Coordinate your Torment level with the other tank to ensure both of you do not Confess at the same time. Atrigan's attacks will apply 2 Torment via Bone Scythe, and therefore the Atrigan tank should be the first to Confess (alternating thereafter).
- Kite the boss during Bone Saw and avoid attacking to minimize damage taken and Torment gain.
- Keep Atrigan faced away from the group as he will periodically cleave the space in front of him with Scythe Sweep.
- Tank the Tormented Soul when you Confess and are sent to Belac's prison.
Healers
- Be sure to delay the dispelling of Echoing Anguish, giving them time to get out of the group so that the least amount of people are hit by Anguished Outburst.
DPS
- Avoid attacking Atrigan during Bone Saw and Belac during Fel Squall to bypass generating additional Torment.
- Melee should stay out of Bone Saw to avoid taking heavy damage.
Everyone
- Positioning
- Ranged and Healers should form a loose spread to avoid taking any extra damage or Torment from Anguished Outburst and Suffocating Dark.
- Tanks should keep the bosses split when possible as the casts of Bone Saw and Fel Squall are staggered.
- Interrupt Belac's casts of Pangs of Guilt.
- Avoid Bone Saw and Fel Squall.
- Confess when you reach maximum Torment (100)to avoid the Unbearable Torment debuff. Torment has no effect until reaching 100 and is acquired when taking damage from either bosses abilities.
- Collect as many Remnants of Hope as possible and avoid the Tormented Eruptions when you are in Belac's prison after Confessing.
Bloodlust/Heroism/Time Warp
We advise you to use Bloodlust/ Heroism/ Time Warp at the pull. The entire raid will be at 0 Torment, ensuring the entire group gets maximum benefit (as no one will have their Bloodlust interrupted by Confess). The bosses will also not be casting Bone Saw and Fel Squall for some time, allowing the raid to cleave at maximum efficiency.
