Talent Choices for Demonology Warlocks
Below is the ideal talent build you will be running in Arena.
Talents Summary
While the above table provides a generally accurate overview of the viability of talents, some finer points are discussed in the sections that follow, and we recommend you read those for a deeper understanding.
Warlock Talent Tree Highlights
Some important spells to note in the Warlock talent tree:
- Mortal Coil gives you extra control over the enemy team with instant crowd control. This ability will also heal you, which is great for increasing your survivability.
- Demon Skin/ Fel Armor are both really strong talents that help increase your survivability.
- Soulburn allows you to empower many of your spells. Some to note is that it will increase the healing of Healthstone and your max health. Also, after you use Demonic Circle: Teleport, your movement speed will be increased, and you will be immune to roots/snares for 4 sec.
Demonology Warlock Talent Tree Highlights
Some important spells to note in the Demonology Warlock Talent tree:
- Power Siphon gives you more on-demand damage by sacrificing two of your imps. This results in two charges of Demonic Core, giving you instant Demonbolts.
- The Houndmaster's Gambit increases your Call Dreadstalkers damage dealt by 50% after you cast Summon Charhound. Therefore, using Summon Charhound followed by Call Dreadstalkers gives you a burst opportunity.
PvP Talents for Demonology Warlocks
You can choose 3 of the following PvP talents. Each of them has its uses, but some are better for certain strategies than others. The top three choices are the most useful but can be replaced with other PvP talents, depending on your team's goal.
Mandatory PvP Talents
Master Summoner reduces the cast time of your Call Dreadstalkers, Summon Charhound, and Summon Demonic Tyrant and reduces the cooldown of Call Dreadstalkers. This is crucial to increase your sustained damage and gives you more time to cast more important spells.
Situational PvP Talents
Impish Instincts is a crucial talent if you are playing against one or more melee DPS. This talent reduces the cooldown of Demonic Circle: Teleport by 3 seconds when you take direct physical damage. This will make it much easier to kite away from incoming damage when you are the primary target for the enemy team.
Soul Rip reduces damage dealt and healing received by players within 20yards of you when used for 8 seconds. This talent is great for increasing your survivability or used offensively to apply a Healing Reduction effect to multiple players.
Call Fel Lord summons a Fel Lord at a location that will stun anyone that enters its ring. This ability is crucial against melee who try to ignore it. This also increases your survivability if you stand by your Fel Lord. You should replace Nether Ward for this PvP talent.
Nether Ward surrounds the caster with a shield that lasts 3 sec, reflecting all harmful spells cast on you. This is a crucial talent to take against all casters. You also want to use this talent versus teams with a Shaman, Death Knight, or Demon Hunter. This is because their kicks are magical, and this will prevent you from being interrupted while it is active.
Call Observer summons an Observer guardian, which deals up to 10% of the enemy's health when they cast a harmful magic spell. This talent is great for teams with a caster to use during their offensive cooldowns.
