This page is part of our Discipline Priest PvP Guide.

1.

Regular Talents for Discipline Priests

As a healer, adapting your build to the situation is important, as the way to heal greatly varies with what you are playing with and facing.

The following build is to be played as the default talent build for 3v3 and Solo Shuffle.

The following build is to be played if you want to maximize your damage output. This is normally played in 2v2.

Priest Tree

  • Dispel Magic Icon Dispel Magic, Mass Dispel Icon Mass Dispel, Leap of Faith Icon Leap of Faith, Shadow Word: Death Icon Shadow Word: Death and Power Infusion Icon Power Infusion are part of your defensive and offensive utility and need to be picked.
  • Benevolence Icon Benevolence increases the healing of your spells and should always be chosen.
  • Surge of Light Icon Surge of Light is a powerful healing talent as it can proc instant Flash Heal Icon Flash Heal free of cost. It helps with sustained healing.
  • Phantom Reach Icon Phantom Reach increases the range of most spells by 15%. This is great for Priests because one of your weaknesses is mobility. If your team starts to kite away from you, you will still be in range to heal.
  • Psychic Voice Icon Psychic Voice reduces the cooldown of your Psychic Scream Icon Psychic Scream by 15s. It is crucial as Psychic Scream Icon Psychic Scream is your best crowd control ability.
  • Mind Control Icon Mind Control is a solid pick as it gives you a powerful crowd control option that you can use both offensively and defensively.
  • Twist of Fate Icon Twist of Fate is a great talent as it allows you to recover when the enemy team has brought someone in your team low on health.
  • Void Tendrils Icon Void Tendrils allows you to mass root enemies. It is a good ability as it gives you more crowd-control options and makes it easier to survive when being trained by melee DPS.

Discipline Tree

  • Pain Suppression Icon Pain Suppression, Power Word: Barrier Icon Power Word: Barrier and Ultimate Penitence Icon Ultimate Penitence are your main defensive cooldowns and are therefore mandatory.
  • Divine Aegis Icon Divine Aegis is a crucial passive for Discipline Priests. Any direct healing that critical heals your target places a shield on that target for 30% of the amount healed. This, in combination with Inner Focus Icon Inner Focus, drastically increases your healing output. These talents should always be chosen.
  • Protector of the Frail Icon Protector of the Frail allows you to reduce the cooldown of Pain Suppression Icon Pain Suppression by using Power Word: Shield Icon Power Word: Shield. Since you want to use Power Word: Shield on cooldown, as it is your best healing spell, the talent is very powerful.
  • Power of the Dark Side Icon Power of the Dark Side, Dark Indulgence Icon Dark Indulgence and Castigation Icon Castigation both empower your Penance Icon Penance. It is one of your key healing spells, so empowering it for more healing or damage, resulting in healing through Atonement Icon Atonement is key.
  • Evangelism Icon Evangelism has a 1.5 minute cooldown that extends Atonement Icon Atonement on all allies and heals them for 4 million, split evenly among them. This is important for any situation your team might be in when you are falling behind on healing.

PvP Talents for Discipline Priests

You can choose three of the following PvP talents; each has uses, but some are better for certain strategies than others. The top three choices are the most useful but can be replaced with other PvP talents depending on your team's goal.

4.1.

Mandatory PvP Talents

Ultimate Radiance Icon Ultimate Radiance makes your Power Word: Radiance Icon Power Word: Radiance instant and increases the healing done. It is an excellent pick in a meta where there is a lot of damage spikes very often, as it allows you to top your team instantly.

Inner Light and Shadow Icon Inner Light and Shadow allows you to swap between two stances. Inner Light Icon Inner Light reduces the Mana cost of your healing abilities by 10%. You may want to use it in some situations, but they are rare. The Talent is mostly picked for its second stance, Inner Shadow Icon Inner Shadow. It increases your spell damage by 10% and buffs your Atonement Icon Atonement healing by 10%. It is one of the key talents that you need to play to maximize your damage output and healing through Atonement.

4.2.

Situational PvP Talents

Phase Shift Icon Phase Shift makes you immune against attacks and spells for 1 second. This makes it more difficult for the enemy to land crowd control on you.

Archangel Icon Archangel increases Evangelism Icon Evangelism healing by 30% and Evangelism Icon Evangelism increases your healing/absorption effects by 20% for 15 seconds. This is a crucial talent if you find yourself falling behind in healing often.

Strength of Soul Icon Strength of Soul is now a solid option against teams with heavy physical damage. Shields now absorb a lot of damage, so it may remain in effect for a long time, making this PvP Talent worthwhile.

Purification Icon Purification gives Purify Icon Purify a maximum of two charges and grants your target a small absorb shield. It is crucial against teams with spammable, dispellable crowd control like Polymorph Icon Polymorph or Fear Icon Fear as you will be able to dispel your teammates multiple times, increasing their uptime and preventing the enemy team from controlling the pace of the game.
