Elemental Shaman DPS Castle Nathria Raid Guide — Dragonflight 10.2.5
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Elemental Shaman for each boss of the following raid: Castle Nathria. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Dragonflight 10.2.5.
Introduction
During the Dragonflight Pre-Patch, Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones will be simultaneously featured as Fated Raids. During this time encounters within each specific raid will include an additional mechanic and items will drop at increased item levels. If you would like to learn more general information about the Fated Raids system as a whole, please see our overview below. Otherwise, continue to use this page for specialization-specific tips.
In this section, you will find information and guidance for each boss individually in Castle Nathria as a Elemental Shaman. These are not complete encounter guides, but rather provide specific tips for any Elemental Shaman on each boss.
The rule of thumb for Legendaries is: Are there significant adds that can be
cleaved? If so, Echoes of Great Sundering is probably the way to go. If not,
Windspeaker's Lava Resurgence is almost certainly the way to go.
Most tips should still be relevant but we do not know how Blizzard's Dragonflight Pre-Patch balance pass will affect every boss; some tactics may change.
The following talent tree will work on every boss although some adjustments may be valid in some cases. You can also import it directly into the game with the following string:

Shriekwing
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Shriekwing: Windspeaker's Lava Resurgence.
Tips
There are a few things to note about the boss' second phase. He is immune to damage,
but you can still generate Maelstrom, so try to end the phase at full Maelstrom.
Other than that, try staying in Ghost Wolf form most of the time because
of
Spirit Wolf and assist the raid with your healing spells.
Holding Spiritwalker's Grace for when you get targeted with
Echolocation
is probably a good idea. Alternatively you can use
Wind Rush Totem to help
yourself and others move out quickly.
Tremor Totem unfortunately does not work against
Sonar Shriek.
For more information, please refer to our Shriekwing guide.
Huntsman Altimor
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Huntsman Altimor.
Deeply Rooted Elements
Echoes of Great Sundering
Tips
The boss and his dog have shared health, which means you should be maximizing
your damage on both targets, keeping Flame Shock on both targets and using
Earthquake when they are next to each other.
The multitarget nature of this fight can enable Deeply Rooted Elements and
Splintered Elements along with a Fire/Dot talent build to be viable, something
like:
When Margore is up, make sure you have Astral Shift available for
Vicious Lunge.
In Mythic difficulty, it is probably wise to use it on
Sinseeker as well
if you get hit. Going into
Ghost Wolf form might be helpful because of
Spirit Wolf's damage reduction.
For more information, please refer to our Huntsman Altimor guide.
Hungering Destroyer
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Hungering Destroyer: Windspeaker's Lava Resurgence.
Tips
Spirit Wolf is once again useful to reduce the damage from
Consume
and to drop
Expunge farther.
There is a lot of movement in this fight, having a set use of Wind Rush Totem
is probably a good idea (or you can use it for yourself and probably help others
by accident).
For more information, please refer to our Hungering Destroyer guide.
Artificer Xy'Mox
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Artificer Xy'Mox: Windspeaker's Lava Resurgence.
Tips
Like the previous boss, this fight is all about movement. Wind Rush Totem
and
Spiritwalker's Grace are therefore key and you should use them often.
Earth Shield is a decent alternative to
Spirit Wolf if you are not
finding the need for more speed when dealing with mechanics.
For more information, please refer to our Artificer Xy'Mox guide.
Sun King's Salvation
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Sun King's Salvation: Echoes of Great Sundering.
Tips
Try to maximize your damage on adds while keeping in mind that there is going to be a priority, especially on higher difficulties
If adds are dead, you can help with healing Kael'Thas, possibly using Earth Shield.
In both phases, dealing with Cloak of Flames is the absolute priority.
In Shade phase, make sure to have DPS cooldowns to deal with it (in Mythic only).
Make sure you keep adds kicked and crowd controlled, hopefully you will have assignments.
Spirit Wolf's damage reduction applies to Soul Pedestal's drain.
Astral Shift is best used on
Ember Blast or possibly
Crimson Flurry.
For more information, please refer to our Sun King's Salvation guide.
Lady Inerva Darkvein
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Lady Inerva Darkvein.
Windspeaker's Lava Resurgence
Echoes of Great Sundering
Tips
Spiritwalker's Grace is probably best kept to be used if targeted by
Shared Suffering.
Earth Shield might be interesting because of the constant damage everybody
is taking, although
Spirit Wolf remains handy as ever especially to catch
Bottled Anima.
Because Conjured Manifestations chaincast, shamans are likely to be assigned to interrupting them.
For more information, please refer to our Lady Inerva Darkvein guide.
The Council of Blood
We advise you to use the following Legendary against The Council of Blood: Windspeaker's Lava Resurgence.
Tips
Spiritwalker's Grace (especially for
Dark Recital) and
Wind Rush Totem
are extremely useful on this fight, do not try to hold them too long.
Keep multiple Flame Shocks going to gain more
Lava Surges. This
is particularly important if using
Skybreaker's Fiery Demise. If using this
Legendary, keep them rolling even during
Danse Macabre unless
Fire Elemental
is off cooldown.
Earth Shield is to be considered in Mythic difficulty especially
to help dealing with the massive amount of raid damage.
For more information, please refer to our The Council of Blood guide.
Sludgefist
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Sludgefist: Windspeaker's Lava Resurgence.
Tips
Because this fight is a DPS race, maximizing your damage during the 12 seconds
of double damage the boss receives every minute is key. To that end, make sure that
as that happens, you have at least 12 seconds of Flame Shock on the boss,
full Maelstrom and hard hitting cooldowns.
Stormkeeper should line up
perfectly.
The Thunderous Paws conduit associated with the
Spirit Wolf talent might be particularly handy on this fight.
For more information, please refer to our Sludgefist guide.
Stone Legion Generals
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Stone Legion Generals: Windspeaker's Lava Resurgence.
Tips
Wind Rush Totem is handy to help with (re)positioning for
Shattering Blast
and
Stonegale Effigy.
Make absolutely sure you do not get unnecessarily hit by Wicked Blade,
especially early on.
The Thunderous Paws Conduit might be particularly handy on this fight.
In Mythic difficulty, you will likely want to have cooldowns and full Maelstrom
to burst down Stone Legion Commandos' Volatile Stone Shell.
For more information, please refer to our Stone Legion Generals guide.
Sire Denathrius
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Sire Denathrius: Windspeaker's Lava Resurgence.
Tips
You will almost certainly want to hold Stormkeeper to deal
with Echo of Sins adds in Phase 1. Pooling Maelstrom is also recommended, ideally
with an
Echoes of Great Sundering proc loaded if you use this legendary.
Ghost Wolf allows you to get to the boss very quickly during the intermission,
as long as you are in this form before Denathrius grabs you. This means you do not
have to get rid of your
Burden of Sin stacks for this purpose.
There are a lot of things where your defensive abilities might be helpful on this fight, so it is probably best to hold it until you are about to receive a big hit and are not full life.
In Phase 2, keep Flame Shocks up on as many targets as possible, at least Denathrius
and Remornia. If the chorus adds at range are dealt with, cleave the melee ones
and the boss with your AoE rotation.
Using Spiritwalker's Grace when targeted by
Fatal Finesse is
probably the way to go.
For more information, please refer to our Sire Denathrius guide.
