Elemental Shaman DPS Easy Mode — The War Within (11.1.0)

This section is intended for players who are new to the game or class, have no intentions of raiding Mythic difficulty or simply want a more straightforward way to play their specialization without being overwhelmed by the numerous priorities and active abilities that need to be taken into consideration for optimal play.

Elemental is a specific specialization that can easily adapt to most situations comfortably. The amount of keybinds required to play this specialization effectively is relatively low, making it a great choice for less seasoned players. This section will focus on a setup that is universally strong and should function adequately in every situation. Minimizing the number of buttons and reactivity was the original goal of this page, but with the Shaman rework, it is unfortunately very difficult to drop active abilities without severely compromising your overall damage output.

The following build is not the best possible for every specific situation. However, it tries to be universally "good-enough" while focusing on ease of use.

Out of 100% of your secondary stats you ideally want to have a spread of roughly:

• 35% into Haste;
• 35% into Mastery;
• 20% into Critical Strike.
• 10% into Versatility;

When close to reaching BiS item level, you will have around 45,000 secondary stats. This means that you should have something resembling:

• 16,000 Haste
• 16,000 Mastery
• 9,000 Critical Strike
• 4,500 Versatility

Note that due to the possibilities of having many different items granting additional secondaries on use or on proc, this can vary quite a bit. Best-in-Slots, House of Cards (and similar trinkets), Cyrce's Circlet and weapon enchants complicate things.

1. Cast Storm Elemental.
2. Cast Stormkeeper.
3. Cast Ascendance, sync it with on-use trinkets, Bloodlust, Tempered Potion
4. Keep Flame Shock up.
5. Cast Tempest.
6. Cast Earth Shock, preferably after a Lava Burst.
7. Cast Icefury.
8. Cast Lava Burst.
9. Cast Lightning Bolt.
10. Cast Frost Shock while moving (ideally empowered by Icefury, making them only a small loss).

Note that the ideal Elemental Shaman priorities differ depending on how many targets you are fighting. This is an approximative "overall" list. For more accurate priority lists for every situation, please refer to the Rotation, Cooldowns, and Abilities page.

For people who do not want to pay attention to Tempest procs, you can use this macro that replaces Chain Lightning with Tempest whenever it procs!

1. Cast Storm Elemental.

4. Cast Tempest Make sure to pay attention to its procs as it replaces Lightning Bolt.
5. Cast Earthquake.
6. Cast Chain Lightning.
7. Cast Icefury while moving.
8. Cast Frost Shock while moving (ideally empowered by Icefury, making them only a tiny loss).
