Talent and Essence Cheatsheet
Wrathion, the Black Emperor
We advise you to use the following essences against Wrathion, the Black Emperor.
- Major Slot
- Condensed Life-Force — Rank 3: Guardian of Azeroth + Condensed Life-Force
- Minor Slots
- The Crucible of Flame — Rank 3: Ancient Flame
- Breath of the Dying — Rank 3: Lethal Strikes
- Blood of the Enemy — Rank 3: Blood-Soaked
Tips
Wrathion is a fight divided into a very static Phase 1, a very high movement intermission and an AoE heavy Phase 2 that cycles in this order. Enhancement suffers from downtime here, so some selections are made to make the most out of the time you can actually hit the boss.
- Using Spirit Walk to get out of range quickly with Incineration is fine, as you should be able to deal with Burning Cataclysm with Ghost Wolf.
- Wind Rush Totem is excellent here if you do not need the survival provided by Nature's Guardian. Use it to assist your raid during the Burning Cataclysm Intermission.
- Guardian of Azeroth and Ascendance work very well here due to the fight timings — you should get one use at the start of each Phase 1 without any significant downtime. Other Essences and options however can be impacted by intermissions.
For more information, please refer to our Wrathion, the Black Emperor guide.
Maut
We advise you to use the following essences against Maut.
Tips
Maut is largely a single-target encounter for Melee players, so your build will be focused on dealing as much of that as possible.
- Nature's Guardian is ideal here just as a safety net for the Phase 2 Obsidian Skin effect in case you reflect too much damage at once, as movement is not as intense here for Melee.
- Make use of Astral Shift if you use cooldowns during Phase 2.
- In some cases you can get the Crash Lightning buff up during Phase 2 if you are quick as the add is moved to the boss. Outside of this do not try to chase getting this up.
- Save Spirit Walk to get out safely if you are targeted by Devour Magic and it overlaps with a Black Wings cast.
For more information, please refer to our Maut guide.
The Prophet Skitra
We advise you to use the following essences against The Prophet Skitra.
Tips
Skitra has a massive arena that can force you to move large distances in intermissions, but is otherwise a simple static encounter. Choices on Essences are mostly dictated by your push timings for the intermission each 33% of the bosses Health.
- Use Astral Shift if you are caught in a bad position for Shred Psyche's detonation.
- Save Spirit Walk for the intermission, and shift into Ghost Wolf if the target illusion is far away.
- If your raid is having issues reaching the illusions far away, take Wind Rush Totem and use it in the intermission to help get the phase over with faster.
For more information, please refer to our The Prophet Skitra guide.
Dark Inquisitor Xanesh
We advise you to use the following essences against Dark Inquisitor Xanesh.
Tips
Xanesh has some very high movement requirements at specific points throughout the encounter, so you need to ration out your tools to keep up with the boss. Otherwise, it is largely a single target fight.
- Taking Wind Rush Totem is very helpful for your raid here, allowing you to speed them up for repositioning following Soul Flay, especially when this overlaps with Torment.
- If you are assigned to dealing with Void Ritual, make sure to stay in Ghost Wolf to complete the phase faster, as you deal no damage with the debuff anyway.
For more information, please refer to our Dark Inquisitor Xanesh guide.
The Hivemind
We advise you to use the following essences against The Hivemind.
- Major Slot
- Blood of the Enemy — Rank 3: Blood of the Enemy + Blood-Soaked
- Minor Slots
- The Crucible of Flame — Rank 3: Ancient Flame
- Purification Protocol — Rank 3: Purification Protocol
- Essence of the Focusing Iris — Rank 3: Focused Energy
Tips
Hivemind is a boss that has very good cooldown timings allowing Enhancement to show off some strong burst AoE while still funneling it into the boss.
- You should ideally be holding Blood of the Enemy and Sundering until the first add wave spawn for a large burst of AoE. These will roughly sync up with each spawn if you hold for the first 30 seconds.
- If Aqir Darters reach melee, you can use Capacitor Totem to lock them down and cleave them down.
- Make use of the Crash Lightning funneling effect to burst down the Aqir Ravager to relieve some pressure.
- Regardless of the boss you are targeting, make sure to keep an eye on Ka'zir and keep Mind-Numbing Nova interrupted with Wind Shear.
For more information, please refer to our The Hivemind guide.
Shad'har the Insatiable
We advise you to use the following essences against Shad'har the Insatiable.
Tips
Shad'har is entirely a single-target burn fight that has a predictable kill timer, so selecting Talents and Essences that fit best into that timeframe will net the highest damage. Other than this optimization, it mostly comes down to avoiding obvious telegraphs.
- You should be using Astral Shift aggressively at any of the more risky moments. This includes if you are caught out by zones spawned by Umbral Mantle, Living Miasma detonations, or when soaking Entropic Buildup.
- Use Spirit Walk to get out if targeted by Living Miasma safely, otherwise use it to get out of damaging areas to reposition.
For more information, please refer to our Shad'har the Insatiable guide.
Drest'agath
We advise you to use the following essences against Drest'agath.
Tips
Drest'agath comes with a lot of downtime and very high movement checks due to the frequent target swaps. It also requires you to condense your damage into short bursts to line up with the Void Infused Ichor effect, meaning that some unusual choices can be combined to bring your performance up significantly.
- Wind Rush Totem and Feral Lunge are both options here due to the high movement. The former provides better support for other melee players to get to the boss after collecting Void Infused Ichor, while the latter is more aggressive uptime for you. Pick based on your group.
- Spirit Walk should be used liberally due to the frequent target swaps, and failing that being available use Ghost Wolf to minimize downtime.
- On very rare occasions an Eye of Drest'agath may spawn within Crash Lightning range of the boss. If this happens, make sure to get the buff active if possible.
For more information, please refer to our Drest'agath guide.
Vexiona
We advise you to use the following essences against Vexiona.
- Major Slot
- Blood of the Enemy — Rank 3: Blood of the Enemy + Blood-Soaked
- Minor Slots
- The Crucible of Flame — Rank 3: Ancient Flame
- Breath of the Dying — Rank 3: Lethal Strikes
- Conflict and Strife — Rank 3: Strife
Tips
Vexiona requires you to temper your damage profiles between boss damage, priority targets, and AoE. Enhancement has options that allow you to pick and choose based on what your guild needs, but the focus here is picking what provides the most versatile options.
- Wind Rush Totem is very useful here to assist your raid during the intermission and the final phase, getting them out of the deep breath zones.
- Tremor Totem can be used in the final phase during Heart of Darkness as a backup if they are caught out alone.
For more information, please refer to our Vexiona guide.
Ra-den the Despoiled
We advise you to use the following essences against Ra-den the Despoiled.
Tips
Ra-den has a large amount of focus on two targets which suits Enhancement's damage profile perfectly. Alongside this it also has cooldown oriented burn windows, so planning your uses around this is important. Lastly, damage is very high here so paying attention to the intake is crucial to surviving through each phase.
- Aggressively keep Crash Lightning as much as possible when adds are active. Focus your attacks on the boss when the Crackling Stalker is active, but instead focus on the Void Hunter when that is.
- Nature's Guardian is too valuable due to the high spikes of damage to forego, as mobility is not too much of a limitation here if played properly.
- Spirit Walk should be saved in Phase 2 in the event you are targeted by Charged Bonds to get out quickly away from your partner to clear the debuff.
For more information, please refer to our Ra-den the Despoiled guide.
Il'gynoth, Corruption Reborn
We advise you to use the following essences against Il'gynoth, Corruption Reborn.
Tips
Il'gynoth is the most complex end wing boss when it comes to how you approach your damage profile. There is a lot you can do to tweak your delivery, and sometimes it comes down to the pace your group is dealing with each phase as to what works best. Making sure you can deliver the most damage without hurting the uptime of your cooldowns however is most important of all.
- Using Capacitor Totem to stop Fixates applied by Blood of Ny'alotha is useful, but you can also use this to lock down players charmed by Touch of the Corruptor to prevent it spreading.
- Wind Rush Totem is very useful here due to the huge boss arena, allowing you to reposition your raid around each Organ of Corruption phase.
For more information, please refer to our Il'gynoth, Corruption Reborn guide.
Carapace of N'Zoth
We advise you to use the following essences against Carapace of N'Zoth.
- Major Slot
- Blood of the Enemy — Rank 3: Blood of the Enemy + Blood-Soaked
- Minor Slots
- The Crucible of Flame — Rank 3: Ancient Flame
- Breath of the Dying — Rank 3: Lethal Strikes
- Purification Protocol — Rank 3: Purification Protocol
Tips
Carapace of N'Zoth has a lot of room to focus on either add damage or boss damage depending on the phase you are struggling with. Ideally however, picking choices that allow you to deal the most versatile profile between each phase due to their differences will make you the most useful. The high movement requirement also means taking talents that help with this both for you and the raid, alongside planning your movement has a big impact on your performance.
- Wind Rush Totem is invaluable throughout the encounter
finding uses in every phase.
- Phase 1 — Useful for adjusting your raid to either side of the Growth-Covered Tentacle to kill growths faster.
- Phase 2 — Transitioning quickly from Wrathion to the sides to get to Synthesis Growth quicker, or to spread out faster to avoid Occipital Blast after completing the two sides.
- Phase 3 — Quick repositioning following Infinite Darkness casts.
- Blood of the Enemy in tandem with Sundering and the Ascendance on cast AoE provides the biggest burst potential for important add waves, though cooldown timings are not naturally synced. You should hold your first use until he first tentacle slam.
- Tremor Totem is useful to break out Madness Bomb in phase 1/2, and Insanity Bomb in phase 3 to prevent downtime for the raid.
- Ghost Wolf can be used to suppress the slow zone surrounding Mycelial Cysts, letting you reach the Synthesis Growths more freely.
For more information, please refer to our Carapace of N'Zoth guide.
N'Zoth the Corruptor
We advise you to use the following essences against N'Zoth the Corruptor.
Tips
Depending on when you are entering into the Mindgate, you will need to be planning your cooldowns (and your build) around this. Making sure that you can slot in your big damage around this while still contributing to Psychus damage in particular is vital for getting the most out of Enhancement. Otherwise, survival and movement are both heavy checks at certain points in the encounter. Often you will be using things as they come up to make it through each phase.
- Wind Rush Totem provides incredible utility here due to the sheer size of the boss arena. This can be used liberally, especially in Phase 2 when moving between each clump of tentacle spawns.
- Enhancement is perfect for dealing with the Psychus phases within the mindgate, allowing you do cleave off the boss and still deal respectable damage to Synapses with Crash Lightning.
- Ascendance lines up naturally with each 3 minute cycle if held for the final burn after 30-40 seconds in phase one on Psychus, allowing you to deal good add and boss damage.
- Tremor Totem can be used pre-emptively in the final phase to cover any player caught by Stupefying Glare.
- Phase 3 damage allows you to cleave off Thought Harvesters with Crash Lightning throughout. Make sure to swap focus to the add if necessary.
For more information, please refer to our N'Zoth the Corruptor guide.
