Feral Druid DPS Battle of Dazar'alor Raid Guide — Dragonflight 10.2.5
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Feral Druid for each boss of the following raid: Battle of Dazar'alor. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Dragonflight 10.2.5.
Introduction for Feral Druid Boss Advice in Battle of Dazar'alor
This page will be a rough outline of the bosses and mechanics in the Battle of Dazar'alor raid from Feral Druid perspective. This is currently aimed at Normal and Heroic difficulties, and as the Tier progresses additional Mythic specific tips will be added.
This page is currently written with the data gathered from a mix of PTR testing and the first week of data from kills on live servers. This means that some notes may be updated in the future if new information appears over the next few weeks.
Note on Battle of Dazar'alor Faction Encounters
The first 3 bosses within Battle of Dazar'Alor have some superficial differences depending on the faction you are playing as. The bosses that this occurs on will simply be referred to as a more neutral name (for example, Jadefire Masters will be referred to as the Mage and Monk, as opposed to their unique character names). Specific spells that need details added will have both linked initially, and then will just use the Horde name thereafter.
Talent Cheatsheet for Feral Druid
Champion of the Light
Talent and Build Notes:
Currently, Champion of the Light is a very single target oriented fight, with a modest amount of cleave. You will only be hitting the adds when Seal of Reckoning is active on the boss, so you should aim to deal as much damage to one target as possible.
- For tier 2 talents, Wild Charge provides the best tool for effectively swapping between adds and boss, but Tiger Dash can also be used. If you are not switching, then Renewal can be useful as an emergency self heal.
- Balance Affinity is the ideal choice on tier 3, as an extra range buffer to stay on the boss. Guardian Affinity is also a solid choice just for the free damage reduction during the Judgment: Reckoning casts. There is not enough damage occurring throughout the encounter to get much value out of Restoration Affinity.
- None of the tier 4 talents will provide a noticeable benefit so your choice does not matter here.
- On tier 5, Incarnation: King of the Jungle can be useful if you are killing the boss particularly fast, but is otherwise weaker than Soul of the Forest.
- All other talent tiers are focused solely on single target damage, as that is the most important aspect of the encounter.
Tips
You should make sure to look at the Champion of the Light guide to make sure you have a strong bearing on the mechanics of the encounter, as this section will cover small specific tips related to Feral.
- Make absolutely sure to turn away from the Crusader when Blinding Faith is cast, as this results in a 5 second crowd control on your character. You can position comfortably at the side of the boss with your back to the adds if they are tanked at opposite sides of the room. This saves you having to adjust too frequently and you can focus on damage.
- Due to the short duration of the fight you will generally only get one use of Berserk. Use this at the pull to funnel as much damage into the boss early as possible.
- When switching to adds, try to have Tiger's Fury ready for a burst of Energy to get Bleed effects applied quickly.
- Make use of both Dash and if taken Wild Charge to quickly make swaps between the boss and the groups of adds. They will usually be on opposite sides of the room, so you will need to cover a lot of ground during the Seal switches.
- Survival Instincts is best used when the boss casts Judgment: Reckoning, as there is little else that is dangerous in the encounter.
- Make use of Stampeding Roar when you are switching to adds to assist the other melee in your team in covering the gap.
Grong
Talent and Build Notes:
While Grong does have adds that spawn, they are kept separate from each other meaning that the fight is entirely single target. This means that currently you should be focusing on this, with an added note for maximising high priority target burst for add spawns.
- For tier 15 talents, Wild Charge provides the best tool for effectively swapping between adds and boss, but Tiger Dash can also be used. If you are not switching, then Renewal can be useful as an emergency self heal during Tantrum.
- Balance Affinity is the ideal choice on tier 3, as an extra range buffer to stay on the boss. Guardian Affinity is also a solid choice just for the free damage reduction throughout the encounter due to the high damage. Restoration Affinity can also be helpful due to the constant damage in the fight.
- None of the tier 4 talents will provide a noticeable benefit so your choice does not matter here.
- All other talent tiers are focused solely on single target damage, as that is the most important aspect of the encounter.
Tips
You should make sure to look at the Grong guide to make sure you have a strong bearing on the mechanics of the encounter, as this section will cover small specific tips related to Feral.
- Try to make sure you stack with other melee on one side of the boss. This means when Reverberating Slam is cast, you can quickly adjust and keep uptime on the boss. Also be near other players to avoid being feared by Ferocious Roar.
- Having Tiger's Fury available for a quick burst of damage on the adds is important. The faster these adds are dead, the quicker you can switch back to the boss and regroup with the melee camp.
- Use Dash and Wild Charge if taken to efficiently move to and from the adds and keep your uptime high.
- Survival Instincts should be used for every Tantrum cast, due to the high raid damage it causes. Do not be afraid to use Restoration Affinity tools if taken to keep yourself alive during these high damage periods.
- If you are tasked with using the Apetagonizer Core, try to use it when the raid has established a good time to trigger a Tantrum.
- Make sure to interrupt Apetagonize with Skull Bash, especially when other players are out of range.
- Make use of Stampeding Roar when you are switching to adds to assist the other melee in getting to it as soon as possible.
Jadefire Masters
Talent and Build Notes:
Jadefire Masters has a very high uptime of two targets, with occasional extra adds added into the mix. Due to the multi-DoTing capabilities Feral has access to, it provides a solid damage toolkit.
- For tier 15 talents, Wild Charge provides the best tool for keeping up with the bosses when they teleport away, but Tiger Dash can also be used and is slightly more flexible for other phases.
- Balance Affinity is the ideal choice on tier 3, as an extra range buffer when the bosses spread out. Guardian Affinity is also a solid choice just for the free damage reduction throughout the encounter due to the constant high raid damage. Restoration Affinity can also be helpful due to the intermittent hits.
- The only choice that has any real use on tier 4 is Mighty Bash, as a way to lock down Xuen adds that leap into melee range.
- All other talent tiers are focused solely on single target with small cleave bonuses due to the profile of the encounter.
Tips
You should make sure to look at the Jadefire Masters guide to make sure you have a strong bearing on the mechanics of the encounter, as this section will cover small specific tips related to Feral.
- Aim to maintain both Rake and Rip on both the Monk and Mage bosses throughout the encounter.
- Try to make sure that you consume your Brutal Slash charges in periods where it will hit both boss targets. Also aim to save charges when Xuen adds are about to spawn for a burst of additional cleave damage.
- Use Wild Charge if taken to stick to the boss when they teleport away. Dash can be used in place of this during high movement periods.
- You should make use of Stampeding Roar when the maze is spawned by A Flash of Hostility to help the raid navigate it quickly.
- Survival Instincts should be used fairly liberally during high raid damage periods, and when healers are under particular stress. There are, however, no strict moments that you will gain extra value.
Opulence
Talent and Build Notes:
Opulence is a unique encounter that is comprised of a lengthy gauntlet ending in a single boss burn phase. Most of your focus should be on single target, and using the best tools for a quick burst of additional AoE to deal with add spawns in the final phase.
- For tier 2 talents, Wild Charge provides the best tool for keeping up with the constructs in the gauntlet as they move away, and re-engaging the boss if you are targeted by phase two mechanics. Tiger Dash also works well for this and is slightly more flexible, just less frequently available.
- Balance Affinity is the ideal choice on tier 3, as an extra range buffer to hit targets when you are forced out of range. Guardian Affinity is also a solid choice just for the free damage reduction throughout the encounter. Restoration Affinity is unlikely to gain much value as most of the hits you will be taking are almost lethal damage rather than intermittent.
- The only choice that has any real use on tier 4 is Typhoon as a way to knock back Spirits of Gold in an emergency if they move too close to the edge.
- While Primal Wrath may seem tempting for the last phase adds, they die too quickly to gain much value. Simply banking Brutal Slash charges will provide better results, as well as having tangible single target benefits.
- All other talent tiers are focused solely on single target as it is the main focus of the encounter.
Tips
You should make sure to look at the Opulence guide to make sure you have a strong bearing on the mechanics of the encounter, as this section will cover small specific tips related to Feral.
- Throughout the gauntlet you are purely focused on single target. In the final phase aim to have 3 charges of Brutal Slash available alongside Tiger's Fury. This will allow you to quickly deal a high amount of damage and then continue focusing the boss.
- Use Wild Charge / Dash / Tiger Dash to keep up with the constructs during the gauntlet to increase your uptime. This is extra useful when they are transitioning between rooms and move out of range.
- Make use of both Dash / Tiger Dash to move out with Liquid Gold in the final phase, and drop it at the edge of the room.
- Make use of Stampeding Roar to assist your group moving between rooms during the gauntlet. In the final phase, use it to help immobile classes move out with Liquid Gold.
- Survival Instincts should be used liberally on any of the damaging mechanics that can be applied to you in the final phase. You can also use it to stay healthy during Wail of Greed casts.
- When it comes to which jewels to use during the encounter, there are
three options for Feral; all 3 gems are valid, and your selection should be based around what
you intend to focus on during the encounter.
- Ruby of Focused Animus is the support jewel. This will provide a stacking debuff to your target that applies every hit (with a 1-second internal cooldown). Only one is necessary each side of the room, so if no-one else is taking it, this is the best overall choice.
- Opal of Unleashed Rage is a late boss-phase gem. This grants 2% increased damage for each new target you hit. This increases in power over the course of the final boss phase due to the add waves, meaning that you are focusing mostly on the last burn of the boss with high stacks of this. The longer the fight lasts, the better this is.
- Emerald of Earthen Roots is a consistent damage jewel. This grants 1% increased damage every few seconds when standing still, but rapidly decays if you have to move. This will provide the most damage during the last portion of the gauntlet, and for most of the final phase assuming you are not targeted by too many mechanics.
Conclave of the Chosen
Talent and Build Notes:
Conclave of the Chosen does have multiple targets, but should be treated as a single target encounter. You will be prioritising one Aspect at a time, and any damage dealt to the other is unimportant. There are intermittent switches to adds, but your primary focus is usually on one enemy.
- For tier 2 talents Wild Charge, provides the best tool for switching to Ravenous Stalker spawns quickly. Tiger Dash also has uses throughout the fight, so your choice based on the type of movement you need. If you find you are fine for mobility, Renewal can be helpful as an emergency self heal during dangerous moments in the fight.
- Balance Affinity is the ideal choice on tier 3 as an extra range buffer to hit targets when moving between them. Guardian Affinity is also a solid choice just for the free damage reduction throughout the encounter. Restoration Affinity can be useful for the latter parts of the encounter due to the DoT effects that occur.
- Tier 4 has either Typhoon or Mighty Bash as options. Typhoon will allow for you to knock back dangerous Ravenous Stalkers that are getting too close to their target, while Mighty Bash can be used to lock down your target before it moves away.
- All other damage choices are selected for ideal single target output, due to that being the focus of the encounter.
Tips
You should make sure to look at the Conclave of the Chosen guide to make sure you have a strong bearing on the mechanics of the encounter, as this section will cover small specific tips related to Feral.
- Having charges of Brutal Slash and Tiger's Fury available to burn down Ravenous Stalkers when you switch to them is very useful. These are the most dangerous enemies in the encounter for DPS to deal with, so they are your focus.
- Make use of Typhoon / Mighty Bash to keep them controlled if they get out of hand.
- Wild Charge and Dash / Tiger Dash are useful tools to quickly switch to Ravenous Stalker spawns. Use this aggressively to kill them off as they spawn.
- Be aware of the timer for Pa'ku's Wrath and make sure you will have a movement tool available for this. Stampeding Roar is great for this to help out the other melee in the group to adjust quickly.
- Use Survival Instincts if you have Bleeding Wounds applied to you from Kimbul's Wrath. This DoT is extremely painful, and you should be ready to use Healthstones or potions if you drop too low.
King Rastakhan
Talent and Build Notes:
While Rastakhan begins as a cleave encounter, it quickly transitions into one that encourages single target. You can opt into cleave options that are recommended elsewhere in the guide, but for the purposes of defeating the boss the ideal choice should be maximising your boss damage.
- Much like Conclave, while the opening parts of the fight may encourage AoE, this is not a fight that is decided by it. Due to that, it is recommended to focus on as much boss damage as you can to make the final phase of the fight easier.
- For tier 2 talents, Wild Charge provides the best tool for getting back to the boss when you are forced out by a number of mechanics. Tiger Dash is much more flexible to allow you to move out but is less frequently available, so this is a personal choice.
- Balance Affinity is the ideal choice on tier 3, as the extra range allows you to still hit the boss during Inevitable End if you position carefully. Alternatively, both Guardian Affinity and Restoration Affinity can provide additional survivability due to the constant raid damage in the final phase.
- Tier 4 has no uses on this fight, so your choice will not matter.
- All other damage talent choices are selected for ideal single target output as that is the focus of the encounter.
Tips
You should make sure to look at the King Rastakhan guide to make sure you have a strong bearing on the mechanics of the encounter, as this section will cover small specific tips related to Feral.
- During the beginning of the fight, try to maintain Rake and Rip on as many adds as possible. Also expend your Brutal Slash charges during Tiger's Fury for as much cleave damage as possible. This rule extends to the third phase if you are upstairs for dealing with the resurrected adds.
- If you are using Balance Affinity and are careful, you can still hit the boss during the Inevitable End. The range is very tight however, so do not risk it if you are uncomfortable.
- Dash / Tiger Dash should be saved for situations when you need to move out to drop Death's Door if applied to you. While it may be tempting to use it aggressively, this is a crucial part of the fight.
- Survival Instincts should be used when the raid is struggling, particularly during the final phase when a large amount of Death Rifts are spawning orbs. This will likely stress your healers, so any damage reduction is helpful.
- Some additional notes are needed depending on which realm you are in during
Phase Three.
- Living Realm: Make sure to focus phantoms as your primary targets. Keep your Bleed effects active on as many targets as possible, and prioritise adds over the boss to relieve pressure.
- Death Realm: Do not be afraid to use defensive tools or move out of range of Bwonsamdi if you are at risk of being hit by orbs. If you have to delay clearing your Deathly Withering stacks, use Survival Instincts to stay healthy. Just remember to clear them at a reasonable level (10-15 stacks) so you are not taking extra damage at a bad moment.
High Tinker Mekkatorque
Talent and Build Notes:
Mekkatorque is a purely single target fight. Your focus here is entirely on dealing as much damage to him as possible, while being as durable as you can be due to the high raid damage happening.
- For tier 2 talents Wild Charge provides the best tool for getting back to the boss when you are forced out by a number of mechanics. Tiger Dash is much more flexible to allow you to move out but is less frequently available, so this is a personal choice. Renewal can be used here due to the periods you are forced away from your healers if you feel your movement tools are sufficient and want some more safety.
- All 3 Affinity choices on tier 3 have their uses here. You will frequently be pushed out of a comfortable range of the boss which makes Balance Affinity the desirable DPS option. Guardian Affinity and Restoration Affinity however keep you more healthy, which is invaluable during the later portions of the fight with high raid damage.
- Mass Entanglement on tier 4 is a crucial choice here, and the other options have no use. This is a great tool to keep Spark Bots rooted together in a clump.
- All other damage talent choices are selected for ideal single target output as that is the focus of the encounter.
Tips
You should make sure to look at the High Tinker Mekkatorque guide to make sure you have a strong bearing on the mechanics of the encounter, as this section will cover small specific tips related to Feral.
- Do not under any circumstances get hit by Buster Cannon. This is not only a heavy hit to you, but will reduce your Haste significantly for 10 seconds drastically reducing your damage.
- Do not worry about hitting Spark Bots with your Bleeds or cleave tools, as they take 99% reduced damage and do not need to be actively killed.
- When targeted by Gigavolt Charge, make sure to use Dash / Tiger Dash to get out of line of sight quickly to avoid hitting the raid with the explosion.
- If you are shrunk by World Enlarger you should get out of the group quickly and head toward a Spark Bot. You should not need movement tools to get out quickly due to the bonus speed provided by Cat Form, but be quick to avoid being Trampled.
- Survival Instincts should be used if you are out of range of the healers when having to drop a Gigavolt Charge. This is due to how vulnerable you will be from the subsequent DoT applied when it detonates.
- Mass Entanglement and Entangling Roots should be used on Spark Bots that are moved out of the group. This helps the raid to have clear safe spaces to stand in, and the puts the Bots in a dedicated spot of the room.
- Stampeding Roar can be used after the raid is transported by Wormhole Generator into the follow up World Enlarger effect. This allows for the players who are shrunk to move out quickly and safely.
