If your group is struggling a lot with killing groups of Crackling Shards,
you can opt into a more aggressive AoE build by taking
Flame Patch,
however this is only beneficial if they live a long time.
Tips
Make sure you watch the boss mod timer for Smoke and Mirrors, and do
not activate your cooldowns, like Combustion or
Rune of Power,
right before he casts it, as he becomes immune after the cast.
During the Smoke and Mirrors Phase, prioritize groups of
Crackling Shards, due to the great cleave capabilities of Fire.

Tips
During the second phase, you should watch your health carefully, since you will
be reflecting all damage you do to the boss. You can use Ice Block
to avoid this damage if your Ignite is ticking very hard after
Combustion.
However, it is generally not adviced to use
Combustion during the second phase,
unless you specifically coordinated this with your healers, as the spell reflect damage
from Combustion is nearly unhealable, especially when using a double on-use
gear set.
Mythic Tips
You should Remove Curse yourself when afflicted by
Ancient Curse,
rather than running into
Devoured Abyss.

This fight has a lot of cleave and AoE, however, depending on the strategy
used by your group, you can either focus on boss damage and stick with Conflagration,
or you can pick either
Flame Patch or
Living Bomb, depending on
the amount of movement of the adds with your strategy. If the adds are often
standing still and you will be able to get good use out of Flame Patch, it will be
better; otherwise, Living Bomb should be used if you want more add damage.
Tips
You can use Shimmer to avoid getting hit by the Aqir Drones,
and kite them over other Drones, so they can be AoE'd down more efficiently.
Mythic Tips
If you are using the double on-use build, you should use Azshara's Font of Power around
15 seconds before the pull timer finishes, and then begin your
Combustion
rotation around 5 seconds into the fight. This will cause you to have the biggest possible
Ignite opener for when the Aqir Drones spawn. Make sure to keep a stack
of
Phoenix Flames ready for when the drones spawn.
Generally speaking, you will want to use later Combustions on the boss
that the Arqir Darters are crowd controlled near. However, if your group is
struggling a lot on Darter damage, you can choose to focus your
Pyroblasts
during Combustion on the Darters, but this is much less overall damage, so it is only
recommended if the Darters are not crowd controlled properly on top of the bosses,
and your group is struggling with them.

Tips
Fire Mages are good at dealing with the Entropic Buildup pools.
You can not use
Ice Block to remove the debuff from soaking the pool, however,
you can use it to stop the damage from it while Ice Blocked.
To optimize DPS, you should use Shimmer to Shimmer out of the raid to the edge
of the room when you are fixated by the Living Miasma. Make sure to watch
for the timer of the Miasma and to not use your cooldowns right before it spawns.

Tips
When affected by Mutterings of Insanity, you should use
Shimmer
to get far away from the rest of the raid. You can also use
Alter Time
right before it expires and re-activating it right after it expires to heal
back to full health.
You should aim to have your cooldowns ready for most of the times you take the
buff from a Void Infused Ichor, to maximize damage to the boss.
Mythic Tips
Most strategies revolve around maximizing the amount of times Fire Mages can get
the Void Infused Ichor buff together with
Combustion, since
Fire Mages are the best burst in the game. If you are using double on-use, make sure you use
it somewhere between 10 and 20 seconds before the target that drops the pool you are assigned
to dies, so you can get a full Combustion (and the huge Ignite damage after it) on the boss.
You can use Ice Block to remove the debuff from
Mutterings of Insanity
(or the stun if you do not remove the debuff before it expires) to avoid getting
stunned altogether. This can be useful if you get it during
Combustion to ensure
you spend as little time stunned as possible, especially if your healers usually take a couple
of seconds to dispel the stun.

You should only consider using Living Bomb if the adds in your raid
group often live long enough that there are 5 adds or more up at any time.
If this is the case, Living Bomb can be used to increase both your boss DPS and
your add DPS, but otherwise, you should stick to
Conflagration.
Tips
When you get Encroaching Shadows, you should first activate
Alter Time and then use
Shimmer to get away from the raid and
re-activate Alter Time after the pool drops to get back into the group.
You should try to align your cooldowns with the final phase starting to maximize DPS during the last phase.

Tips
Phase 1
When affected by Unstable Vita, you will want to first activate
Alter Time and then use
Shimmerto Shimmer to one of the assigned
locations to deal with Unstable Vita, and then re-activating Alter Time.
You can use Ice Block to solo soak the
Void Collapse,
if you get affected by it.
Phase 2
You should use Shimmer to quickly break the
Charged Bonds.
Mythic Tips
You should use your first set of cooldowns around 25-30 seconds into the fight,
so you can maximize the Ignite spread from your cooldowns to the adds that spawn around 35 seconds into the fight.
When using double on-use, this means using Azshara's Font of Power around 10 seconds into the fight.
You can use Ice Block to get rid of the
Corrupted Existence, so you
can be healed to full health.

Tips
If you get mind controlled by Touch of the Corruptor, you can use

Intermission Phase
When affected by Cursed Blood, you should use
Shimmer to quickly
Shimmer out of the group.
Mythic Tips
If your group uses the strategy where Cursed Blood does not get dispelled at all,
make sure you do not use
Ice Block while you have it, as it will instantly dispel it,
and most likely cause a wipe.

Living Bomb can be a solid choice for Phase 3, as it increases
your boss damage slightly, while increasing your damage on the adds throughout
the fight as well. However, your overall boss DPS will be a bit lower, so it will
depend on where your group is struggling.
Tips
Phase 1
You should first activate Alter Time and then use
Shimmer to
quickly get away from other players when affected by
Madness Bomb.
You can then re-activate Alter Time to heal back to full health and get back
in position.
Intermission to Phase 2
You should try to get yourself assigned to the right side pathway during this phase, so you can cleave one of the clumps of 3 Synthesis Growths in the back of the pathway with Ignite.
Phase 2
Make sure to watch the timer for Occipital Blast to avoid
using your cooldowns right before N'Zoth casts this spell, as you will very
likely have to move.
Phase 3
Just like in Phase 1, you should use the Alter Time ->
Shimmer
combo to quickly get away from other players when affected by
Insanity Bomb
and then heal to full again. Most strategies involve not killing the Nightmare Antigen
adds until they get shielded, at which point you can use
Living Bomb
on them if you picked this talent. Additionally, if it lines up well with your
Combustion, you can use Living Bomb -> Combustion to deal a lot of damage
to the Antigens, while also increasing your boss damage.
Mythic Tips
In Phase 1, if you get assigned to the front side of the tentacles on the first wave of adds,
you will want to hold Combustion until around 25 seconds into the fight (which means using
Azshara's Font of Power around 5 seconds into the fight if using double on-use), so you
can build a huge Ignite on the boss and spread to the Horrific Hemmorages. This
requires the tanks to position the boss in such a way that Ignite will spread to the Hemmorages.
If this is not the case, you should simply use cooldowns on the pull as normal.
If your group uses Time Warp/
Bloodlust in Phase 1 instead of
Phase 3, you should use your cooldowns on the pull instead of delaying it, so they
are up for the intermission.
During the intermission phase, you should try to get yourself assigned to the right side pathway.
You can then use Combustion on one of the sets of 3 Synthesis Growths in the back of the
pathway.
For more information, please refer to our Carapace of N'Zoth guide.

Tips
Phase 1
Assuming your strategy involves dragging Psychus over the
Exposed Synapses, you will primarily want to be focusing Psychus
and spreading Mastery: Ignite to the Synapses via
Phoenix Flames
right as Psychus gets close to a new Synapse.
When the boss has a lot of these stacks is when you should use all your DPS cooldowns.
What is considered "a lot" depends on your strategy. Generally speaking, 6 to 7
stacks is when you should use all your DPS cooldowns. The first time you are
in this dream phase, it is often not worth using your cooldowns on Psychus but
instead save them for N'Zoth.
Phase 2
When affected by Paranoia, you should use
Shimmer to get
to your linked partner as quick as possible.
When you go back into the dream realm, you should play it the same as described in Phase 1, but use your DPS cooldowns when Psychus is on high stacks.
Phase 3
Since Phase 3 is largely a DPS check phase, you should focus on optimizing your
damage here. The main thing to look for is that you do not use Rune of Power
shortly before
Evoke Anguish as this will force you to move out of your Rune.
Mythic Tips
Since this fight has some very strict DPS checks, and has very important timing windows, generally
speaking you will get your Combustion usage assigned based around your strategy. There are
2 main cooldown usage rotations on the fight, for, convenience listed, below,
including
Azshara's Font of Power usage when using double on use.
- Cooldown Usage Rotation 1 (Psychus 1 group)
- Right on the pull on one of the Bashers (use
Azshara's Font of Power 18 seconds before pull)
- ~2.03: On Psychus (Font of Power ~1.43 into the fight)
- ~4.13: On the Basher Tentacle (Font of Power ~3.53 into the fight)
- ~6.15: On N'Zoth, cleaving Ignite via
Phoenix Flames to the Thought Harvesters that follow shortly after (Font ~5.55 into the fight)
- ~8.25: On N'Zoth (Font ~8.05 into the fight)
- ~10.37: On N'Zoth (Font ~10.17 into the fight, right before leaving the Gateway Phase)
- ~12.37: On N'Zoth (Font ~12.17)
- Right on the pull on one of the Bashers (use
- Cooldown Usage rotation 2 (Psychus 2 group)
- Right on the pull on one of the Bashers (use
Azshara's Font of Power 18 seconds before pull)
- ~2.37: On N'Zoth (Font of Power ~2.17 into the fight)
- ~5.00: On Psychus (Font of Power ~4.40 into the fight)
- ~7.36: On N'Zoth, cleaving Ignite to the Thought Harversters that follow shortly after (Font ~7.12 into the fight, couple seconds before
Mindgrasp channel begins)
- ~10.37: On N'Zoth (Font ~10.15 into the fight, right before leaving the Gateway Phase)
- ~12.37: On N'Zoth (Font ~12.17 into the fight)
- Right on the pull on one of the Bashers (use
Generally speaking, Ice Block is assigned to soak 2 sets of
Harvest Thoughts casts.
If you are assigned to do this, simply use Ice Block shortly before the Harvest Thought casts finishes.
On some of the Harvest Thought immunity assignments, it will be followed by a
Evoke Anguish shortly after.
If this is the case on your Ice Block assignment, make sure you stay in Ice Block until the Evoke Anguish has finished
casting as well, since if you are in an Ice Block before the casts finishes, you will not get the debuff at all.
A note on Ice Block usage: If you are assigned to use Ice Block during the
Harvest Thoughts cast
around 8 minutes, make sure you use it slightly early. (so around 8.04, instead of the 8.07 where the cast finishes),
so you can use Ice Block again at 12.05 for the
Evoke Anguish that goes out at that point.
A good way to optimize DPS around Evoke Anguish is to use
Alter Time in a safe spot away from the Anguish assignments, and then
use
Shimmer to get to your assigned spot, and re-activating Alter Time
to get back to your safe spot after the pool of Anguish has dropped.
