Fire Mage PvP Guide — Dragonflight Season 4

Fire Mages are one of the most unique caster specializations. The damage profile for Fire heavily relies on the hit-and-run playstyle. Utilizing heavy Crowd Control setups with Combustion on an isolated target makes Fire Mage is a force to be reckoned with. The main class a Mage should be looking to pair with is a Rogue, Shadow Priest, or Warrior. With coordinated stuns into Polymorphs and a strong healer (Holy Priest or Restoration Druid), Fire Mage compositions typically have very large on-demand damage, with high consistent damage as well as long crowd control chains on enemies.

Weaknesses

• Consistent damage is low without the use of Glass Cannon
• Predictable burst damage
• Will struggle versus teams with two melee on it
• The weakest defensively of all three Mage specializations

• Majesty of the Phoenix has been updated – Casting Phoenix Flames causes your next Flamestrike to have its critical strike chance increased by 20% and critical strike damage increased by 20%. Stacks up to 3 times.
• All ability damage reduced by 3%.
• Lit Fuse now has a 6% chance to trigger (was 4%).
• Explosive Ingenuity now increases Lit Fuse’s chance to trigger by 4% (was 3%).
• Explosive Ingenuity now increases Living Bomb’s damage by 50% (was 25%).
• Explosivo's Living Bomb damage increase while in Combustion reduced to 30% (was 40%).

• New & Changed Mage Class Talents:
  • New Talent: Barrier Diffusion
  • New Talent: Inspired Intellect
  • Supernova added to Mage class tree and now has a 45-second cooldown (was 25 seconds).
  • Mass Slow has been removed.

  • The following talents have been removed: Tempered Flames, Conflagration, Searing Touch, Surging Blaze, Focused Fury.
• Flamecannon PvP Talent has been removed.
• New PvP Talent: Fireheart. Blazing Barriers damage is increased by 500%.
• Blazing Barriers effectiveness is no longer reduced in PvP combat (was 75% effective).
• Unleashed Inferno is now 30% effective in PvP combat (was 20%).
• Living Bomb damage reduced by 30%.
• Sparking Cinders damage bonus reduced to 10% (was 15%).
