Flying Guide
In World of Warcraft, you can choose between two types of flight — Skyriding (previously known as Dragonriding) and Steady Flight, which is regular flying. This guide will help you understand the differences between the two.
Introduction
World of Warcraft currently has two forms of flying — Skyriding, which lets you use special abilities to navigate through air, or regular old flying introduced first in the Burning Crusade expansion now also called Steady Flight.
Steady Flight in World of Warcraft
If you are experiencing motion sickness while Skyriding despite the available accessibility options, you may want to tap into Steady Flight. This static flight style allows you to stay in the air forever and you use WASD or arrow keys to navigate your flying mount. This flight style is limited to +420% speed which is why most of the players prefer Skyriding.
Your character will learn Steady Flight at Level 20 for the first time and the flying mount speed will be increased by 220%, and at Level 30, the maximum speed will be 420%.
Find out more about Steady Flight in the linked guide.
Skyriding in World of Warcraft
Skyriding (also referred to as dynamic flight) is the go-to flying mode in World of Warcraft. Previously, it was also known as Dragonriding, but since the War Within pre-patch, the system has been streamlined and hundreds of mounts have been updated with new animations to support it.
While Skyriding, you spend Vigor to cast special abilities that allow you to maneuver through the vast landscapes World of Warcraft has to offer.
The Skyriding flight speed is currently capped at 705% outside of the Dragon Isles. In the Dragon Isles, the speed remains capped at 830%.

Switch Flight Style
Switch Flight Style is a five-second cast that allows you to seamlessly switch between Skyriding and Steady Flight in World of Warcraft. You will learn it at Level 20. Access it by bringing up the Mounts tab (Shift+P by default).
