Frost Mage DPS Sepulcher of the First Ones Raid Guide — Dragonflight 10.2.5
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Frost Mage for each boss of the following raid: Sepulcher of the First Ones. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Dragonflight 10.2.5.
Introduction
On this page, you will find Frost-Mage-specific information to deal with each boss in the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid. This page assumes you already have a basic understanding of the fights, and focused primarily on how to do the fights as a Frost-Mage specifically.
The tips on this page were written for Season 4, and not for Dragonflight's changes.
During the Dragonflight Pre-Patch, Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones will be simultaneously featured as Fated Raids. During this time encounters within each specific raid will include an additional mechanic and items will drop at increased item levels. If you would like to learn more general information about the Fated Raids system as a whole, please see our overview below. Otherwise, continue to use this page for specialization-specific tips.
Talent Cheatsheet
This talent set should work as a generalist for all encounters. If your raid needs a slight bit more AoE, try the following talent build instead. The import string for it is as follows:
- BAEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIBaJCSSLg0kIiISEAAAIJBSkkkIpkkkIAAAAAAAAAAC
Vigilant Guardian
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Vigilant Guardian: Slick Ice.
Tips
The important part of this fight is the single-target burns, so orient yourself accordingly. On the off chance your raid is missing add DPS, feel free to take Splitting Ice. Stay with Slick Ice if at all possible, as its single-target damage far outweighs the loss swapping to Splitting Ice.
Blink and Alter Time are nice to get bombs to the door and you back to the fight.
For more information, please refer to our Vigilant Guardian guide.
Skolex, the Insatiable Ravener
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Skolex, the Insatiable Ravener: Slick Ice.
Tips
If blue swirls are spawning under your feet, you are too close to the boss. Move back to avoid further unncessary movement.
Retch's timer is important. Try not to have Rune of Power down when Retch is about to happen, as you will need to move fairly far to avoid it.
For more information, please refer to our Skolex, the Insatiable Ravener guide.
Artificer Xy'Mox
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Artificer Xy'mox: Slick Ice.
Tips
Blink can pass you through Genesis Rings without issue. Alter Time is also usable, although it can be difficult to time with the forced relocation and the rings.
Try and have Comet Storm and Frozen Orb available for the add phases.
Dausegne, the Fallen Oracle
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Dausegne, the Fallen Oracle: Slick Ice.
Tips
Ice Block can be used to solo Staggering Barrage, or drop the debuff on Heroic.
Alter Time should be used when soaking someone else's Staggering Barrage, and ended as the effect ends to heal yourself back to full.
You can Blink through Disintegration Halo.
For more information, please refer to our Dausegne, the Fallen Oracle guide.
Prototype Pantheon
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Prototype Pantheon: Slick Ice.
Tips
Try and not pop cooldowns during Pinning Volley, as you will lose a lot of cleave damage.
Alter Time is fantastic to negate the positional and damage aspects of Hand of Destruction.
For more information, please refer to our Prototype Pantheon guide.
Lihuvim, Principal Architect
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Lihuvim, Principal Architect: Slick Ice.
Tips
Alter Time should be used to heal yourself to full after Deconstructing Blast.
For more information, please refer to our Lihuvim, Principal Architect guide.
Halondrus the Reclaimer
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Halondrus the Reclaimer: Slick Ice.
Tips
Use Deathborne on pull, and again in the final phase.
A good deal of this fight is mobile. Shimmer vs Ice Floes is going to be a personal choice and what you are comfortable with. Neither will get you through an entire movement phase by themselves.
Utilize the knockbacks during the mobile phase to position yourself so you can get extra stand-still DPS.
Comet Storm should land all 7 comets even when moving, as Halondrus' hitbox is rather large.
For more information, please refer to our Halondrus the Reclaimer guide.
Anduin Wrynn
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Anduin Wrynn: Slick Ice.
Tips
Alter Time Domination Word: Pain if possible, otherwise use Mirror Image. Try and negate as much of it as possible.
Polymorph the add you are assigned to during intermissions.
Ice Block removes Hopelessness, allowing you to not use the bubble in the middle of the room.
Deathborne on pull should get you a second use during the intermission, just after the small adds spawn in.
For more information, please refer to our Anduin Wrynn guide.
Lords of Dread
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Lords of Dread: Slick Ice.
Tips
Deathborne should be lined up to end at 1 minute into the fight. What exact point this is will depend on what rank of Conduits you have. Generally you are safe popping it 10 seconds into the fight.
The First Sigil gets special notice here, as popping it just before Unto Darkness is a disproportionate DPS increase compared to most trinkets, and if your kill lasts long enough, it will be up for another Unto Darkness vulnerability phase.
Mages are very good at being able to ignore a lot of damage during Unto Darkness. Alter Time should be popped just as the phase starts, and ended when you need the health or left to expire. Mirror Image is up for every Unto Darkness phase as well.
Make sure you do not pop cooldowns going into Infiltration of Dread.
For more information, please refer to our Lords of Dread guide.
Rygelon
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Rygelon: Slick Ice.
Tips
For the most part this is a test of single-target DPS. There are no real tips for Mages specifically.
On Heroic, you may be asked to soak Cosmic Core's damage with Ice Block, although this is a poor job for a Frost Mage due to the extended downtime involved. If possible, get someone else to solo soak, or just do it as if you had no immunity.
For more information, please refer to our Rygelon guide.
The Jailer
We advise you to use the following Legendary against The Jailer: Slick Ice.
Tips
You cannot Ice Block any debuffs on this fight.
Frozen Orb will become trapped in open holes. You can safely use it over closed holes.
Blink also hates open holes, and if you are aimed wrong there is a high chance of going nowhere. Likewise, closed holes behave perfectly fine.
Alter Time the Phase 1 bomb to minimize downtime in the air.
For more information, please refer to our The Jailer guide.
